One Shot for Brittany
Starstruck @ Starbucks
I walked into Starbucks like I did every morning. Another boring day lies ahead for me. I come to Starbucks to get some peace and quiet so I can maybe focus on my song writing. I went up to order and the cashier immediately recognized me. “Hey Britt. Your usual?” I laughed. She even knew my regular order because I came so much. “Yes. Thanks Tessa.” She got my drink and I started to head for the table in the corner. There was water on the floor, which I obviously didn’t see, and I, being the lucky person I am, slipped on it. My cup went flying. I managed to hold on to my laptop but I was pretty sure I was going to fall right on my butt. Then a pair of hands grabbed me “Woah are you okay?” I didn’t even respond. I was too busy watching my drink drench another customer. I immediately got up and rushed over to him. “I am so so sorry! I’m such a klutz. I didn’t mean to..” He put his hand up to stop me from talking. I was almost sure that he was going to yell at me. He looked up at me and started laughing “It’s okay. It’s not your fault. There should really be a ‘wet floor’ sign there.” I laughed. He seemed sweet. Most people would have flipped out. He extended his hand “I’m Joe” he said with a smile. I shook his hand “Brittany. I said. Nice to meet you.” I then took a good look at him. “Wait a minute. Are you Joe Jonas?” He looked at the floor and then sarcastically said “Geeze just when I thought we met a girl who didn’t know us!” I then looked around. Behind me was Nick Jonas. I’m assuming he is the one who caught me, and over at the register stood Kevin. “Wow. It’s a pleasure to meet all of you. It really is.” Nick then spoke up “Joe do you hear that?” Joe looked at him like he was crazy “No Nick I don’t hear anything. What’s wrong with you?” Nick laughed “I was going to say, I don’t hear any screaming. It’s nice.” Brittany laughed. “I thought it was funny Nick. And trust me. I won’t scream. I figure you get enough of that every night.” We all stood there when Kevin came over. “Here’s your drinks guys. Woah Joe!” He took a look at Joe. “What happened to you man?” He laughed. “Well Brittany here decided it would be fun to spill her drink on me” he said. “HEY NOW!” I said. “I did say sorry! Even though you do look kind of funny.” Joe looked at me and smiled “Well either way you owe me. Hang out with us today.” I thought about it. Write songs…or hang out with the Jonas Brothers. I’m thinking hanging out sounds good. “Well I guess I can hang out with you” I said faking disappointment. They all caught on and decided to joke around back “Well don’t do us any favors! If you don’t want to just say so!” I responded “I came here to work on a song I’m writing.” Nick then spoke up “Well what a great way to spend your day hanging out with songwriters who could probably help you if you wanted.” I laughed “Alright you got me. I’ll hang out with you guys.”
Throughout the rest of the day I got to know each of them a little better and they go to know me. I found out that Nick really isn’t shy at all when you get to know him, he’s actually pretty funny. Joe is just crazy, but he is really sweet. Kev is just like a big brother. He’s so caring and free. “So today was fun.” I said. “Yeah it’s almost coming to an end. Bummer.” Joe said. Kevin then spoke up. “Hey didn’t you say there was a song you were working on that you needed help with.” I thought about it. My song! I completely forgot. “Yeah. Wow I completely forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me. I have all the lyrics, I just need the music. That’s always where I find my problems.” Joe laughed “Well Brittany, you just happen to be in the company of some very talented musicians.” As he said that Nick went over to the piano, Kev grabbed a guitar, and Joe came and sat down next to me. “Alright so can I see the lyrics?” I was too busy getting lost in his gorgeous brown eyes to even pay attention “Sure. Here you go. But they might not be that good. I’m just warning you.” He laughed. “I’m sure they are great.” He then got up and walked over to Kev and Nick and they all read through the lyrics. “These lyrics are good Brittany, and I think we have an idea of what the music should sound like.” Joe then grabbed my arm and pulled me over to the microphone with him. “Do you sing?” He asked brushing the hair out of my face. “A little. I mean I’m more of a drums and piano kind of girl but I’m not terrible at singing” He smiled. “Alright well just follow me.” Nick and Kev both started to play and Joe started to sing but then I took over pretty quickly.
Did you forget
That I was even alive
Did you forget
Everything we ever had
Did you forget
Did you forget
About me
Did you regret
Ever standing by my side
Did you forget
What we were feeling inside
Now I'm left to forget
About us
But somewhere we went wrong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
So now I guess
This is where we have to stay
Did you regret
Ever holding my hand
Never again
Please don't forget
Don't forget
We had it all
We were just about to fall
Even more in love
Than we were before
I won't forget
I won't forget
About us
But somewhere we went wrong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
But somewhere we went wrong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
At all
And at last
All the pictures have been burned
And all the past
Is just a lesson that I've learned
I won't forget
I won't forget
About us
But somewhere we went wrong
Our love is like a song
But you won't sing along
You'll forget soon
About us
That was so good, I thought to myself. “That was good Britt.” He looked at me. “So Britt, will you go out with me tonight?” I smiled. Joe Jonas asked me out. “Of course. But I can’t guarantee I won’t spill anything on you again” He laughed “With you, I’ll take my chances. You’re worth it.” I smiled again. I woke up this morning thinking today would be just another boring day. But let me tell you. My day was far from boring, and not too shy of amazing.
