Graduates, Graduates, Everywhere
They could still remember their first day of kindergarten. Could still remember the tears she/he shed when their kids walked inside those doors. They could still remember how every day in the kindergarten their child would run up to them at the end of the day full of stories and hugs. They could remember how in first grade when they needed help with homework they used to run up to them frowns on their faces. They remembered in the second grade when they got their first boyfriend and girlfriends.
“Mom are you crying already?”
All she could do was nod her head at her daughters words as the beautiful girl sighed and slipped the yellow gown on.
“This is such a horrible shade of yellow.”
Her mother shook her head, she looked gorgeous in anything she wore, extremely gorgeous.
They could remember the times when their favorite colors changed every day, and when they loved to sit and color pictures. They could remember before there were boyfriends and when there were best friends. They could remember before they got their drivers license before their first school dance.
“Mom stop crying please!”
None of their mothers could stop the tears, Spencer was the worst thought and she only had one of her children leaving her, Stephani had three and Crystal had two.
“I’m sorry Madison, but my baby! Your graduating!”
“Mom you have five more kids calm down.”
“I’m sorry it’s just!”
“Mom’s always get emotional honey.”
Kevin kisses Spencer’s forehead and she turns into his hug. Her tears soaking his nice shirt. He lets out a little laugh and whispers in her ear.
“Baby it hasn’t even started yet.”
“I know it’s just she’s leaving!”
Kevin smiles down at his wife before talking.
“You still have Alyssa, Steven, Ben, and K3.”
Ah K3 the miracle that Stephani helped with. Seeing how happy Kevin and Spencer were with their children and yet the longing in the pairs eyes for a son of their own she got an idea.
“Guys I’ll be a surrogate mother for you.”
Spencer and Kevin both turned somehow the conversation had turned from Madison’s tenth birthday party to Stephani carrying their child for them.
“Stephani what are you talking about?”
“I can see it, I can see how much you want a little boy that is you and him. How much he wants it. Nick and I are blessed with our nine kids, we want you to be blessed as well. And besides you guys are the best friends and family in the world why wouldn’t I do this for you.”
“Steph we couldn’t ask you…”
“You didn’t I offered, I want to do this for you if you want me too.”
So for three months they try to get Stephani pregnant and when she finally does everyone is extremely happy. Nine months later a handsome healthy little boy is born, Paul Kevin Jonas the third.
“Yea we have ten more years for him.”
“Thanks Steph for that one.”
Stephani is bawling as she looks at her three children standing in front of her two in blue and the third in yellow.
“No problem just know when he graduates I will cry as much as you.”
“I wouldn’t expect you not too!”
“Come on lets go find some seats.”
Nick leads the way holding a bawling Stephani in his arms to find the perfect seats to see the first six of the nineteen children graduate.
“It seems like just yesterday we were all together for Frankie’s graduation.”
“That was years ago.”
“It still feels like just yesterday.”
“But it wasn’t I mean hello we are married.”
That came from Frankie’s wife Brittany who was currently pregnant with the couples first child.
“True…”
“Shhh they are starting!”
They sit silently watching waiting for the first name to be called, Haley Leigh is first to walk across the stage graduating with highest honors. Next is Madison Grace walking with honors. Followed by the twins Amanda Elizabeth and Taylor Allison the two boys coming last, Nicholas Jerry leading Michael Andrew across the stage.
“My babies graduating!”
Stephani is almost in tears but she isn’t. Well actually she is, her years as a teacher helped her prepare though and the tears were slowly falling she wasn’t as bad as Crystal or Spencer. But her voice still squeaked. After all the first third of her children were graduating all at once, most people had years in between children her kids all went at once. At least it seemed that way.
As they walk outside ready to meet their children everyone is still in tears. Except the other children they are just happy their siblings are leaving.
“Mom stop crying.”
Madison looks at her mother and sighs, her mother will not stop crying.
“I can’t help it Madison, your leaving me. I’m so proud of you baby.”
“Thanks mom.”
Madison smiled her fathers smile and Spencer couldn’t help but smile, she was so beautiful a perfect mix of Spencer and Kevin.
“Your welcome baby your welcome.”
Right then Madison’s best friend ran up and smiled widely wrapping her into a tight hug.
“Can you believe it?”
“Yea! But I can’t believe you haven’t figured out I like you yet.”
He looks shocked from Madison to her parents and then back again.
“Go on and kiss the girl.”
Her cousins start singing and Madison blushes slightly.
As they turn away from the youth of America, Kevin smiles and kisses his wife’s cheek.
“Graduates, Graduates, Everywhere one is yours and mine.”
