Teach Me Tonight
-Prologue-
He sat down on the bed, her sweet peachy scent still lingering in the air. Several textbooks were open, with writing in the margins, pencils lying askew across the crisp sheets. She’d been gone for hours, without saying a word to him as to where she was headed. He knew that she’d come back though, she always did.
Something about that girl was extremely intriguing to Kevin. He didn’t know what it was, or why, but he just couldn’t get enough of her. Her face, the way it lit up in the sun, or the way her eyes sparkled when she watched him play guitar. Okay, maybe he was imagining the sparkles, but in his mind, they were always there. Her simplistic style, her worth ethic, the way she always got what she wanted- it made him envious of her. She had achieved so much, with so little. Something that he, Kevin Jonas, was never able to do.
He stood up one last time, before walking back out where his two brothers sat on the bus. Joe had a magazine open, sipping on a can of soda while munching on the bag of potato chips that sat beside him on the couch. Nick, however, was bent over the table, furiously erasing on a piece of paper that looked to be covered in numbers. Kevin chuckled slightly as Nick ran a hand through his curls, obviously very confused about whatever he was doing. He thought quickly about offering to help him, but then decided against it. It was her job, not his.
And then Kevin’s focus went straight back to her. He knew that he was falling, and falling fast. But he couldn’t let anyone know. He didn’t want to screw things up for her, because she’d come so far, and he didn’t want to see her fall back to the bottom. Because he knew that anyone that worked for his parents was totally off-limits. He picked up his guitar, and slowly strummed a few notes, letting the thought of her drift away from his mind.
