here's your one-shot, emily. it's a very long one-shot though. lol i think i have to work on the length of my one-shots. =P i hope you like it.
*Emily’s POV*
I kept on fidgeting on my seat as my mom drove me to the hockey stadium. My uncle, who was working for the arena management recently got a promotion, and since he knew how big of a fan I was of the Pittsburgh Penguins, he managed to score me a ticket!
I turned on the car’s CD player and soon BB Good by the Jonas Brothers (my favorite band!) blasted through the speakers.
You gotta be, be good to me.
I’m gonna be, be good to you.
We’ll be happy as can be.
Just goota be, be good to me.
I sang along as my mom started laughing at me.
“Mom, c’mon, give me a hint. What’s Uncle Charlie’s surprise for me?” I pleaded as the song continued playing.
“I’m sorry honey, I promised him I wouldn’t tell you” she laughed. “What I do know is that you’re going to like it” she grinned at me and then looked back at the road.
“Gosh, I bet I get to meet the players! Do I? Do I get to meet them?” I asked, getting excited at the thought of meeting my favorite Hockey team of all time!
“I don’t know hon” my mom smiled.
I groaned and pretended to pout but she just laughed at me. Then she started singing along to the Jonas Brothers and I joined in. Yea, my mom’s cool like that haha.
Finally, we reached the stadium and Uncle Charlie was already waiting for me outside.
“Emily!” he shouted as I got outside the car.
I ran towards my favorite uncle and gave him a hug.
“What time should I pick her up?” my mom yelled from inside the car.
“Don’t worry about it, I can drive her home” Uncle Charlie yelled back.
“Ok. Thanks Charlie! Have fun Em!” my mom said as she winked at me and waved goodbye.
“So, what’s the big surprise?” I asked him as my mom drove away.
“You’ll find out soon enough” he grinned at me as we walked inside the stadium.
“Wow! Uncle Charlie! I love it! Thank you!” I said as we walked into private box seats (A/N: I’ve never been to a hockey game before so I don’t know if there are box seats there lol so since it’s fiction, let’s just pretend). I was definitely going to watch the game from the best seats in the house!
“You’re welcome Em, but that’s not your surprise” he chuckled.
Just then three guys walked inside the room and waved at my uncle.
As they got closer, I realized who they were. The Jonas Brothers!!!
I was shocked but thank goodness I didn’t let my jaw drop, that would’ve been embarrassing.
“Boys, this is my niece Emily. You take good care of her ok?” Uncle Charlie told the three boys.
What? How? Uncle Charlie was friends with them? I was confused. I couldn’t ask my uncle because he soon waved at me and left.
My thoughts were cut though by the boys introducing themselves. I introduced myself too but I still felt a little shy. While waiting for the game to start the guys told me that their manager knew Uncle Charlie and that’s how they managed to get the seats. Uncle Charlie promised them the seats if his niece could watch with them. I loved Uncle Charlie. I couldn’t believe he did this for me. Pretty soon I got comfortable with the boys. They were so down-to-earth and they just kept me laughing the entire time.
I had so much fun watching the game with the guys. But Nick was the one I got along with the best. We would shout and cheer at the same time. We were really enjoying the game! He was so fun to watch it with because he got really hyped up.
The Penguins won the game, by the way! But I was a little sad when I realized that it was time to say goodbye to the boys. I was surprised though when Nick actually asked for my number. Who knew that he would still want to keep in touch?
We said our goodbyes and I got a hug from each of the boys, but Nick’s was the longest. I savored the hugs, since I wasn’t sure if I was going to see them again or not.
Surprisingly, Nick and I kept in touch even though he had to leave our city to continue with their tour. We e-mailed each other, sent text messages, and he’d always call whenever their schedule got the least lighter.
One night, while I was about to go to bed, my phone started ringing. I glanced at the screen and saw Nick’s name blinking.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Hi Em!” Nick said cheerfully but he sounded really tired.
“Hey! How was the show? You sound tired”
“It was amazing! But yeah, I’m pretty exhausted”
“Nick, you didn’t have to call if you were tired. Why don’t you go to bed now and we can talk some other time” I told him. As much as I wanted to talk to him, I wanted him to get some rest too. I’m sure he was pretty tired.
“Aww, you don’t want to talk to me?” he asked, sounding like he was pouting. It was adorable.
“Nick! Of course I do, but I also want you to be perfectly healthy” I giggled.
“I know, I know” he said. From the sound of his voice I could tell he was smiling. “I just called to say that…” and then he paused.
“That…?” I asked
“We’ll be in Pittsburgh this Saturday” he said excitedly
“Really? Wow! That’s great!”
“Yeah! And I also called to tell you that I’m taking you out on Saturday, ok? I’m not taking no for an answer” he said, chuckling.
Like I would say no to Nick Jonas, right?
I laughed at him. “Ok, Saturday it is. What are we going to do?”
“It’s a surprise” he said. “Ok, now I think I better go to bed before you ask me what that surprise is” he laughed again. Nick knew me all too well.
“You knew I was going to ask you!” I laughed. “But ok, I agree with you going to bed to get some rest” I told him. “Good night Nick”
“Good night Em. I’ll see you in two days” he said as we both hung up the phone.
Saturday finally came and at 2:00, Nick was outside my house waiting for me. I still had no idea what we were going to do. We rode the car for a couple of minutes and then Nick placed a blindfold around my eyes. Before getting out of the car, he handed me his iPod and told me to just listen to it as he placed the earphones on my ears. Boy, he was really secretive. He took my hand as I got out of the car and led me to who knows where.
“Nick! Where are we?” I asked, perhaps a little too loud since music was blasting from Nick’s iPod into my ears.
I felt Nick shaking a little. He must’ve been laughing at me.
He then led me to sit down. He removed the earphones and all I could hear was people chattering. I still had a blindfold over my eyes.
“Nick! Where are we?!” I asked again.
“I’ll give you a clue” he teased, “Do you know who Mumble is?”
Mumble… Mumble… The penguin from Happy Feet? What about him? I thought to myself. Wait… Penguin! Did Nick take me to the Penguins game? But I thought the tickets were all sold out!
I knew my mouth was wide open, shocked by my realization. Nick then took it as a sign to remove the blindfold from my eyes. Then there he was, squatting in front of me with a huge grin on his face. And right behind him I saw the ice and the crowd. We were in the same box seats where we first met. Yes, we were definitely at the Penguins game!
“Nick!!! Oh my gosh! Ahhhhh!” I screamed as I leaned forward and wrapped my arms around his neck to give him a hug.
“Ahhhh!” I kept on screaming which made him laugh as he was still hugging me.
“I’m glad you liked my surprise” he said as he hugged me tighter.
“Nick! How? I mean… I thought… Ahh!” I was so happy I couldn’t even form a sentence properly.
He laughed at me, his eyes squinting as he took the seat beside me and faced me.
“Uncle Charlie” he grinned. “I told him I wanted to surprise you, so he went along with it” he said, smiling at me.
“Oh gosh Nick. Thank you! This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me! This is amazing!” I said as I hugged him again. I couldn’t help it, I was ecstatic!
“No Em… You’re amazing” he whispered in my ear.
We pulled back slowly and he was smiling at me. I wasn’t sure if I heard him correctly but I was sure that I was blushing now as I felt my cheeks get warm.
“I mean it” he said, breaking the silence between us. He took my hand in his and intertwined his fingers with mine.
“Em, you’re the sweetest, smartest, nicest, funniest and most beautiful girl I’ve ever met. And I’ve met millions” he chuckled. “I’m really glad I met you. I never dreamed that I would meet anyone like you. You’re the only one who can make me smile after a very exhausting day just by hearing your voice or even just reading a text message from you.”
I smiled at him. I didn’t know what to say.
“I was wondering Em…” he started saying, and then stopped. He looked nervous.
“Will you be my girlfriend?” he then continued. He stared into my eyes waiting for an answer.
I just stared at him. Him, Nick Jonas. Nick Jonas was right in front of me asking me to be his girlfriend and I was speechless, breathless even.
I looked at him, trying to see if he was joking but his soft eyes just met mine and I knew he was serious.
“Yes” I said softly, smiling at him.
He then smiled, took my hand in his and kissed it.
Then he twirled his fingers with mine as we both looked at the ice, waiting for the game to start. We both had silly grins on our faces.
“This is definitely the best surprise ever” I said to him as I squeezed his hand.
He beamed and leaned his face closer so our noses were touching.
“Nope.” He said and moved even closer.
“YOU’re the best surprise ever” he whispered as he kissed me softly.
