Hey everyone! Aside from "See Right Through Me" I've decided to start a new fic! This one's a little different from all of the other Fan Fics out there right now... It's a little sci-fi-ish... but in a good way I promise! The chapters are longer than my usual, but I'm hoping that's a good thing. PLEASE read and comment, I will be forever grateful! Much Love

Joe's POV
“So is anyone going to tell me where you’re taking me?” I asked quietly looking out of the passenger window of the car. I was searching for some sort of clue as to where I was headed, but I came up short.
“No” Kevin & Nick said in unison.
“But its my birthday… don’t people have to do what I want?” I asked hoarsely, though I knew it was hopeless.
“Chill Joe. We don’t want to ruin the surprise. We’re almost there anyways.” I could hear Nick say from the backseat.
I rolled my eyes and pressed my forehead against the cold glass of the window. “Some birthday present…” I mumbled to myself “wake me up at an ungodly hour and drive me to who knows where...”
“Someone’s riding the bitter bus today” Kevin said beside me in a sing-song voice. I looked over at him and saw him laughing at his own alliteration while focusing on the road ahead. “And we woke you up and 4am so Mom & Dad wouldn’t know we’re gone. We’re breaking some major rules for you, be thankful” Kevin rattled on.
“Shut up Kevin” I yelled, though it came out as a whisper. Ugh, I hated this sour mood that I was in. Weren’t birthdays supposed to be happy? It wasn’t even the fact that I was turning a year older that had me down though. Yesterday just wasn’t a good day. I lost my voice after our last show & haven’t been able to speak audibly for nearly 24 hours now. On top of that, my iphone got hacked, and someone started sending mean texts to all of my contacts. I had to spend hours tracking everyone down and apologizing. I was just in no mood to celebrate.
I could see the sun starting to rise over the distant horizon, forming warm hues across the dark sky. The Californian roads were practically empty as we sped along the palm tree lined street. “Um, make a left here.” Nick said, sifting through a few printed directions from map quest. Kevin nodded and turned down a smaller street, passing countless ratty strip malls and car dealerships. “Left on Suncrest Road, and it should be right on the corner.” Nick said.
Kevin couldn’t hide his smile as he drove up to a deserted strip mall parking lot & threw his jeep into park between two yellow lines.
“We’re here?” I guessed.
Nick & Kev started getting out of the car & I quickly followed suit. I glanced around at the signs above each of the stores in the strip mall… “Barry’s Tire Emporium”, “Flowers by Francie”, and my personal favorite, “Wok N’ Roll Chinese Take-out” Where were they taking me? We walked towards the building, but suddenly turned the corner to go around it.
I was half expecting everyone I know to jump out and yell surprise, but behind the building there was nothing but dumpsters and crabgrass. I looked up and noticed something glowing above my head. I took a quick step back and saw a small neon sign. There were no words, just an illuminated crystal ball and an arrow that pointed to the right.
“The door’s over here!” Nick called from a ways down. “Are you sure she’s open this early?” he asked Kevin. Who’s open early? Where are they taking me? Why can’t mom & dad find out? I was both too tired and too confused to really make sense of anything.
“Yeah, when I talked to her on the phone yesterday she said she’d be open at 5.” Kevin said. I glanced absent-mindedly at my watch. 5:11am.
“Alright, well then let’s go.” Nick said apprehensively eyeing the metal doorway before him “… You first Kevin.”
Kevin rolled his eyes and opened the door widely, signaling for me to go in. I looked through the door and saw a set of stairs leading down into the bleak darkness, then looked back up at Kevin in disbelief “Nothing will pop out at me… right?” I asked reluctantly stepping passed Kevin.
“No.” He said with a light chuckle. “… at least I don’t think so”
I quickly descended the narrow staircase, hearing Kevin and Nick not far behind. At the bottom, there was a glittering bead curtain, lightly reflecting deep flecks of purple and red across the walls. Without a thought, I walked through it… the beads chiming as they collided.
Realization slowly dawned on me as I took in my surroundings. There was a small room before me, engulfed in dimmed lighting and an intoxicating sent. The walls were covered in dark, ornate wallpaper with beads and velvety curtains spread throughout. There was a bookshelf to my right, stacked with old leather bound covers, all with titles I could not pronounce. The defining feature however, was a small round table in the middle of the room, the center piece was a large crystal sphere with a cloudy liquid swirling around inside.
I could hear Kevin and Nick walk in behind me, as Kevin let out a low whistle.
“Joseph, I presume?” Said a distant female voice with an unfamiliar accent. Floorboards creaked as a slight figure stepped through another beaded curtain doorframe, and stood before me. The woman looked to be in her mid-60’s, wearing a deep red peasant skirt and purple shawl. Her face was sunken and pale, against the black silk scarf, which was covering most of her wiry blonde hair. The woman’s dark chilling eyes stared into mine for a long second, looking almost amused; I was sure she could feel my sudden fright.
I swallowed and nodded, quickly casting a glance back at my brothers. They both stood there, completely silent and still, mouthed slightly gaped open. They both clearly had no idea what to expect in taking me here.
“Well Joseph,” The woman continued, walking over to the table, skimming the surface of the crystal ball with her fingertips, raising her eyebrow “It is my understanding that you would like your future told…”
