How Could You ?
I walked into Starbucks. The soothing aroma of coffee hit me in the face, breathing a new life into me. I had been up all night trying to write new lyrics fro my gig tonight at a local bar. Suddenly my relaxation was cut short as my body tightened up as a very familiar voice ran through my ears. It felt like needles being stabbed into my back as the words slid from his mouth. I hurridley made my order, and turned around to find no one other then Joe. That last person I had ever wanted to see again, and of course there right beside him like an annoying pest was Emma. She was all done up in a long black dress that grazed over every curve of her body. Her green eyes peaked out from under her blonde hair staring directly at Joe. I looked at myself in absolute disgust. I was wearing old jeans that had paint all over them from the may renivations in my room. A black T-Shirt that read, Don't Be Trashy Recycle in metallic letters, along with Oscar The Grouc h sitting in his trash can, exactly were I wanted to be hiding right now. My old green converse peeked out from under my jeans, and my brown hair was pulled back in a head band exposing my very bloodshot deep brown eyes.
"How could he do this to me."
It just ran through my mind, as i flashed back to the exact day I said that.
I was awaken by Joe, singing my favorite song "Shelf"
"Don't take my heart and put it on a shelf."
"Oh Joe, you know I would never do that to you," I said not realizing that on that day he was going to do just that. I fliiped my body around under rthe covers to find Joe's arms open pulling me into him. I could feels his heart beating as one with mine, and every breathe we took was together. His breathe slowly fall down my neck as he kissed it, instantly sending chills up and down my spine, slowly he made his way to my lips, and as he did I felt like no ordinary person. Suddenly his phone vibrated. He let go of me, pushing himself away and kissing me on the forehead. His body listend in the sun, as every muscle was defined. His long dark brown hair floated freely across his face, and his deep brown eyes seemed endless. He was wrapped up in the satin sheets, and made him look like a God. I watched as his face intesified reading the message, and then slowly turned into a smile.
"Who is it," I asked grabbing onto his hips,, and pulling mysleg closer to him. He grabbed my hands and wrapped them around his neck.
"Oh just Nick, he needs me to meet him up at Starbucks. Hurridley he took the covers off his body, and threw on a pair of Jeans and a V-Neck T-Shirt. His lowered his gaze to me, and I fell back into the pillow, jut remidning myslef this wasn't' a dream. As soon as I heard the door shut I got up, and grabbed myself a cup of coffee from the counter. I sat on our cool leather couch, as my eyes hooked on to the TV,w watching Regis and Kelly. Suddenly the phone rang. I grabbed off the table not even bothering to take my gaze away from the TV. I pushed up a hello.
Suddenly my eyes unglued from the TV, as I heard a familiar voice respond back.
"Hi."
"Um....Nick, aren't you supposed to be with Joe," my stomache started to turn as I forced the question out.
"No.." I didn't even wait to hear the rest of what he said. I threw the phone on the table, and ran out the door grabbing my keys. I jumped into the car driving for what seemed like forever, I just kept tell myself it was all in my head. Joe would never do anything to hurt me I mean we were in love. I slid into the parking lot, jumping out of t car, and slamming the door behind me. I ran up to the glass doors of starbucks, suddenly stopping in my tracks. I felt a tear run down my cheek, as my long hair slid across my face, and the black night gown blew in the cold morning air. I looked through the door, my heart stopping as I found Joe sitting at a table holding the girl's hands across from him. Slowly Joe's eyes met mine, and instantly he dropped Emma's hands and ran twoards the door. I spun myself around as fast as I could, heading twoards my car. I fumbled the keys in my hands as I gasped for air.
"How could he do this to me?"
The honking of cars all around me still would not drown out his footsteps pounding on the pavment, as his voice coming closer.
"Alexis, Alexis, Alexis, Alexis."
"Alexis, your cofee is ready."
I suddenly jumped back into reality, noticing I had been staring at Joe and Emma the whole time. The lump in my throat grew hard, and made it even more difficult to breath. I hurridley grabbed my cofee, and went out the door. I didn't want to turn and face those eyes. The eyes of God and the devil, both staring at me, but I could feel them. They were burning a hole in my back. I jumped into my car, and pulled around the corner, and off the road. I slid my hands off the wheel raising them to my face, as I whipped away my mess of tears, hair, and makeup. I looked at myself in the rear view mirror.
"How could he do this to me?"
