I realize I have about fifty billion fics out there that haven't been finished. And most of my friends know and understand why I haven't updated.
But this has been sticking with me for a while. I can just SEE it. So bear with me?
Enjoy.
Somewhere Along In The Bitterness
The sun was shining through the sheer curtains, casting a fine light in the room. Dust particles could be seen floating in the air; shimmering and moving slowly with the breeze that came from the air conditioner. Books stood uniform in a tall bookcase that lined one entire side of the room, and a man was sitting with his arms crossed stiffly in the overstuffed, fluffy couch.
He was eyeing the man across from him with something like disgust and disbelief. It was a look he’d become all to accustomed to giving, and apparently the man was used to receiving. He watched as the man across from him adjusted his eyeglasses and peered down at a sheet of paper on a clipboard. This caused him to scowl and roll his eyes, but he didn’t speak.
“Mr. Jonas, you are aware that you have to continue these sessions for six more weeks, regardless of whether you actually let them help you or not. So why don’t you try telling me how you feel and we’ll go from there?” The man was balding and his face was of a kind nature. But the man’s nature did nothing for the young person across from him.
“I told you, Mr. Lafferty, that I didn’t need these therapy sessions and that we’re all just wasting our time here. That’s how I feel. Nothing different from yesterday, or the day before.” With a roll of his eyes he pushed his curls from his face and scowled once again.
Mr. Lafferty just nodded his head and peered down at his paper with a resigned sigh. He’d known this case would be a difficult one when he took it, but it was beginning to take its toll on him. He’d known who the young man was from the posters hanging from his granddaughter’s wall and her constant talking about the music group his brothers were in. But the smiling, talented man she was crazy about was quite different from the one sitting across from him.
Where had that man gone? Surely he wasn’t far. It was his job to find out what happened to the person this Nick Jonas was and to bring him back…if he wasn’t lost somewhere along in the bitterness.
