I don’t think that passenger seat
has ever looked this good to me
“Aren’t you going to get in?” Kevin asked with slight impatience in his voice
“Oh, right” I said sliding in
He closed the door behind me, walked over to his side, and got in.
“So how was your night last night?”
“Well” he started
I honestly wasn’t listening to a word he was saying instead I was counting the colors in his hazel eyes .
“ I’ll never fall in love,” he swears running his left hand through his mop of curls
I laughed because I hope he’s wrong and I don’t think it’s even crossed his mind that I like him as more.
“So, why is 6 afraid of 7?”
“Why?”
“Because 7, 8,9 “
I faked a smile but I know all his favorite songs.
He tells me about his night
And I count the colors in his eyes
He’ll never fall in love he swears
As he runs his fingers through his hair
I’m laughing cause I hope he's wrong
I don't think it ever crossed his mind
He tells a joke I fake a smile
That I know all his favorite songs
And..
[Chorus]
I could tell you his favorite colors green
He loves to argue, born on the seventeenth
His sister's beautiful, he has his father’s eyes
And if you ask me if I love him,
I’d lie
He looks around the room
Innocently overlooks the truth
Shouldn’t a light go on?
Doesn’t he know I have had him memorized for so long?
He sees everything black and white
Never let nobody see him cry
I don’t let nobody see me wishing he was mine
[chorus]
He stands there then walks away
My god if I could only say
I’m holding every breath for you...
He’d never tell you but he can play guitar
I think he can see through everything
But my heart
First thought when I wake up is
My god he’s beautiful
So I put on my make up
And pray for a miracle
Yes I could tell you his favorite colors green
He loves to argue oh and it kills me
His sisters beautiful he has his father’s eyes
And if you asked me if I love him
If you ask me if I love him
I’d lie
Yes I could tell you his favorite colors green
He loves to argue oh and it kills me
His brother’s funny he has his mother’s eyes
And if you asked me if I love him
I spent the rest of the day with Kevin in his room talking and laughing .
“You want to know what I was writing when you walked in?” he asked
“Yeah”
“I was writing a song”
“Really, about what?”
“You promise you won’t laugh?”
“Of course not”
“It was about you”
“Really?”
He didn’t reply he just leaned in and planted a sweet kiss on my lips.
Now if you ask me if I love me I wouldn’t lie.
I walked into his house after school.
“Hi, Mrs. Jonas”
“Hi, honey Kevin’s in his room”
“Okay” I said walking towards his room
I knocked on his door but he didn’t answer so I just walked in just to see him strumming on his guitar.
He looked up at me and said “ Oh, hey Delaney”
“Hey, Kevin you were good”
“I’m not that good” he said putting down his guitar
“Kevin , trust me you were good” I said taking his hand in reassurance
He looked into my eyes but he could see through everything but my heart.
My first thought in the morning my god he’s beautiful so I put on my make up and pray for a miracle. And little did I know today that prayer would be answered.
He stands by my locker and then walks away
“My gosh, If I could only say I’m holding every breath for you”
He looks around the room and finds his seat but overlooks the truth about us.
“Had trouble finding your seat there?” I giggled
“Haha, I guess”
“Well, that’s you” I giggled
He started to take out his book and his pencils as I stared at him
“What are you staring at?”
“Nothing”
I guess he sees everything in black and white
He lets no one see him cry like I don’t let anyone see me wishing he was mine.
We parked at school, got of his car, and walked to our first class together.
When we got to class, I instantly found my seat.
I could tell you his favorite colors green
He loves to argue, born on the 5th
His brother‘s funny, he has his mother’s eyes
And if you ask me if I love him,
I’d lie
I heard a honk it was my best friend Kevin.
“Coming Kevin “
“Okay!” he yelled
I walked out of my house and to Kevin's car.
I saw him get out and open my door for me
“Thanks” I smiled
“No problem”
I just stood there looking at the passenger’s seat
