I know, I know.. The title's a little off, but you'll understand why I used that title when you read the story.

Nick one-shot for Rachelle
“5, 6, 7, 8… Slide… 1, 2, 3, 4… 5, 6, 7, 8… And stop!” I whispered to myself as I watched the teenagers dancing in front of the camera.
“And that’s a wrap!” Our director yelled.
I clapped as I saw the cast ending the dance routine perfectly! We were currently in the set of Camp Rock II and we were filming the final dance scene.
I’m only 17 but I’ve been dancing since I was three! My dance teacher surprised me one day by having some Disney executives watch our recital, and right then and there, they signed me as the choreographer for the Camp Rock sequel! They said I was perfect for it since the movie was for people around my age and most of the cast members were teenagers as well. They said they knew I’d work really well with the cast. So of course, I accepted and I’ve been teaching the cast several dances for the past three months and I was so proud of everything they’ve been able to accomplish! And they were right! Working with the cast didn’t even feel like work at all since we were all the same age and it was really fun working with them.
“You guys were great!” I beamed as the music stopped and some started cheering, jumping up and down, and some running to me to hug me.
“Rachelle! Wooo! Did you see me?”
“Rachelle! That was my favorite routine!”
“Wooooo! I’m so pumped!”
The kids around me were shouting and trying to get my attention. I found it so hard to respond to all of them so I just laughed and started hugging them all.
When the crowd started to dwindle, since most wanted to freshen up, I walked to the stage and sat down facing the lake.
“Penny for your thoughts?” I heard someone say from behind me. I turned around and saw Nick Jonas standing right behind me.
Nick is probably what you could call my best friend here in Camp Rock. We always hung out when they didn’t have to film anything. We started getting close when he said he was having trouble with some of the dance routines we had so when we were both free, I’d practice with him. In return, he taught me how to play the guitar. But aside from our lessons, Nick and I hung out a lot for no reason. He seems to be the quiet type when there’s a lot of people but when it’s just us, he never fails to make me laugh, sometimes to the point that my stomach hurts and I start tearing up.
I smiled at him and patted the space beside me, motioning him to sit down.
“So what were you thinking about?” he asked as he sat down beside me and we both stared at the lake.
“A lot of things” I laughed. “I mean, I can’t believe we’re done with everything and that we’re all going home tomorrow” I said with a sad note in my voice.
“Yeah, I was thinking about that too. I’m going to miss everyone” he said. “But it’s been really awesome. I had so much fun!” he added.
I nodded and smiled at him, “That’s another thing I was thinking of. I can’t believe I got to work with such amazing people!” I told him.
He chuckled and said, “You know what they say… Birds of the same feather, flock together!”
I groaned as I looked at him and shook my head.
“Nick, it would’ve been simpler if you just said, ‘You’re amazing too, Rach!’” I joked.
He then looked at me with his soft brown eyes and then said, “You ARE amazing, Rachelle” he said softly.
I felt my heart jump when he said that. I didn’t know if he was serious or if there was a punch line waiting to follow.
“I mean it” he then said, sensing my confusion. “I’m glad I met you and got to know you better” he said, taking my hand in his and smiling at me.
I couldn’t believe what was happening, but I just let him hold my hand and I smiled back.
“I have a confession to make” he chuckled as he stared back into the lake, my hand still in his.
“Hm?” I wondered what this confession was.
“I just pretended to need dance lessons so I could spend time with you” he confessed, smiling again at me.
I remembered our practices in my head and everything just started making sense.
I laughed when he said this, “I knew it! Haha! When I would watch you guys during practice you’d get everything right, but when it was time for us to practice, you would seem to forget everything!” I said.
He chuckled and grinned sheepishly.
“So you’ve been lying to me for three months?” I asked him, pretending to sound hurt. Little did he know how flattered I was that he actually did that just to get to know me better.
He ran his thumb in circles along the back of my hand. “I’m sorry” he smiled sheepishly.
I laughed at him. “I was just kidding, Nick! It’s okay. I’m actually flattered” I admitted. “Besides, you taught me how to play the guitar so we’re good” I smiled at him.
He squeezed my hand and smiled with relief.
“So tell me, what did you learn about me from our fake practices?” I joked.
He faced me and then looked into my eyes. Every single time he does that I could feel my heart skip a beat and heat rush up my cheeks.
“For one thing, I know you love laughing” he chuckled.
“Ok, that’s one. What else?” I asked.
“You’re a very helpful person. You actually gave me private lessons for three months” he chuckled.
“Well, it had its advantages” I grinned at him.
“I know that you’re confident about yourself and you won’t change for anyone. I actually admire you for that” he said as he started to lean his face closer to mine.
I was surprised when he said that.
“I also know that your eyes change color. Sometimes it’s blue, sometimes it’s green. So let’s just say they’re blueish greenish” he smiled at me, still staring into my eyes and his face continuing to inch closer to mine.
“And” he chuckled, “You always have stray hairs on your face” he said as his other hand, the one not holding mine, pushed back some hair on my face and placed it on the back of my ear.
I knew I was blushing when he did this. He was making me so weak in the knees.
“Oh, that’s one more thing” he laughed again. “You’re cute when you blush”
I crinkled my nose at him which made him laugh again.
“Just one more thing, I promise” he whispered as he leaned closer again, this time our foreheads were almost touching.
“The most important thing I learned about you” he started,
“everything I mentioned” he continued,
“made me fall in love with you” he said.
I wanted to say something back but I couldn't find the words. I couldn't believe this was happening.
He took my chin in his fingers and lifted it so he could kiss me gently on the lips. I closed my eyes as he did this. The kiss was gentle but so full of emotion.
When we both pulled back we both had smiles on our faces.
“Nick” I said, giggling.
“What is it?” he asked
“This will probably be the only time you’ll hear me say this” I laughed.
He looked at me weirdly.
“But I’m glad you lied" I told him.
I continued laughing which made him laugh too.
He didn’t say anything. He just smiled at me and slowly intertwined his fingers in mine. We remained silent, my head resting on his shoulder, as we both stared at the lake, both facing the same direction, and both with smiles on our faces.
