Yeah it sucks I know haha.
Division
You chose to surrender
the best thing that's happened to you
What were you missing?
Were you just tripping?
Running away from your fear
was the best you could do
You made this decision
You chose our division
“K-Katie I can’t do this anymore… I just don’t feel the same about you anymore.” Joe said staring at his girlfriend, Katie who was trying to fight back the sobs. She couldn’t believe that her boyfriend of three years was ending it; she didn’t understand what went wrong in the relationship. She tried to make him happy, do everything she could for him.
“Why Joe why, what did I do wrong?” Katie asked, wiping away the flowing tears as she stared into his eyes.
“You didn’t do anything wrong Katie! Don’t ever think you did okay?” He murmured trying his best to soothe her to make her understand that their separation was for the best. She merely nodded her head, trying to comprehend it all. “I have to go… I’m really sorry Katie I am.” With that he turned around making his way back to his home.
When he left Katie ran into her house, up the stairs, and into her room slamming the door shut. She collapsed onto her bed, the tears streaming down her heart felt like it was breaking into a million pieces. Why did he decide to end it all? What did she do wrong in the relationship? Was it something she did, was it something she said? Maybe she hadn’t done anything wrong; maybe he was the one who couldn’t handle the commitment anymore.
Congratulations
Now you are free
You have earned your degree
Yeah, you graduated
This is your last separation from me
There'll be no more trying again
No more coming back
No more forgiving you
No more thinking that somehow the sum will be different
By using Division
Days had passed since that fateful day, and she was slowly but surely started to heal but then he would call, saying how sorry he was, how much he needed her back in his life but she wouldn’t listen. No she couldn’t take him back not after he tore her heart out basically, she was fine without him, it was his fault for their division not hers.
After the fifteenth call to her house she unplugged the telephone wire from the socket, growing annoyed from his persistent calls. She tried to figure out why he wanted her back now; he didn’t seem to mind break her heart. She sighed in frustration, should she be mad at him or not? Maybe she should do something so they could both get closure and move on.
Walking into the kitchen she looked at the calendar and saw that tomorrow was when Joe was finally graduating home school. She could at least throw him a party just so they could have their last goodbye before he left for college, and with that she started to plan the whole thing.
Half of your friends would attend before they ever knew
Why they are going
To this party I'm throwing
They would be thinking that I would be pleading to you
To get back together
Well how about never?
The graduation party for Joe was in full swing, there were colored balloons hanging from the ceiling, snacks and drinks piled onto the coffee table, music blasting from the stereos and half of the people she invited swinging their bodies to the beat. I smiled at them as I stood off to the side by myself when Nick, Joe’s younger brother came up to me.
“Why did you throw this party Katie? You aren’t going to ask for him back are you?” He asked, looking at me and then back at his older brother who was flirting with some girl.
“No, he is the one who wanted me back; I just thought I would do this so we would have some closure you know?” He nodded his head before walking away talking to his girlfriend, Bekah. I stayed rooted to the same spot watching Joe move from girl to girl each time getting rejected. Then he started walking towards me a sad smile etched on his face.
“Hey Katie, thanks for throwing this party for me you really didn’t have to.”
“It’s no big deal, I thought I should at least do something for you since you are leaving for college in a few days, and we need some closure you know?”
“Yeah, I’m really going to miss you Katie and I’m sorry for calling you all the time begging you to get back with me… maybe this is better us being friends.” Katie nodded her head, giving him a warm hug.
“Going to miss you too Joe now go back to the party have fun!” She giggled, sure he hurt her but maybe he was right, maybe they should just be friends.
