Teardrops On My Guitar (oneshot for Emily)

He looks at me
I fake a smile so he won't see
What I want and I need
And everything that we should be

Emily smiled as Nick looked at her. She knew she was in love with him, but he didn't, of course.
"Beautiful eyes--I mean night" She said to him.
"Yeah. You should meet Selena, my girlfriend." The fake smile disappeared on her face for a second, then came right back before Nick knew it was gone.
"But you're a great friend, too." He said.

I'll bet she's beautiful
That girl he talks about
And she's got everything
That I had to live without

The two walked around the block. It was such a lovely night in Brooklyn, New York.

He talks to me
I laugh cause it's just so funny
That I can't even see
Anyone when he's with me

Emily laughed at all of his jokes, even though most of them weren't even that funny. She looked around, and all she could see was him. No one else walking the streets. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
"It really IS a great night" Nick said.

He says he's so in love
He's finally got it right
I wonder if he knows
He's all I think about at night?

"Can I tell you something, you know, as a friend?" The boy said
"Sure."
"I really love Selena.I don't know, I think I finally got it right."
"I'm...happy for you." It was a total lie. It hurt so much when he said that, she could feel her own heart shatter to pieces.

Emily looked at her clock. 3:42am. She couldn't sleep. She was thinking of Nick.
"Life is so unfair." She said to herself.

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only reason I keep wishing on that wishing star
He's the song
In the car
I keep singing
don't know why I do

So she got out of bed and wrote a sad, sad song about the hurt deep inside. She cried hugging her guitar and finally got to sleep.

He walks by me
Can he tell that I can't breathe?

They walked along the streets together. Emily was holding her breath.
"I gotta go, Emms. Sorry."
"It's okay." She just stood there as he walked away.

And there he goes, so perfectly
The kind of flawless I wish I could be

She got home and ran to her room. The pain swelled deep inside her cold, fragile heart.

She better hold him tight
Give him all her love
Look in those beautiful eyes
And know she's lucky cause

"I hope she really loves him." Emily said to herself "Great, now I've started talking to myself."

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on that wishing star
He's the song
In the car
I keep singing don't know why I do

Emily drove home by herself. She just couldn't believe it.

So I drive home alone

She turned out the lights in her room beside her bed. Then she looked at the picture of Nick on her bedside table.

As I turn out the light
I'll put his picture down and maybe get some sleep tonight

Then she lay the picture down and turned the other way and tried to sleep.

Cause he's the reason
For the teardrops on my guitar
The only one who's got enough of me
To break my heart
He's the song in the car
I keep singing don't know why I do

He's the time taken up
But there's never enough
And he's all that I need to fall into

"Emily" He said "I know."
"How?" She replied, trying to hold back the tears from falling.
"The way you stormed off that night. I knew it only meant that."
"Well, it's good that you know. But you told me you're in love with Selena."
"No. The truth is, I liked you, and I used that to hide it."
Their lips met in a gentle kiss.

and then really sweet at the end.
i honsestly wasn't expecting the end.
but i loved it.
