haha, glad you get it now! :D i actually started this last night, but got stuck and then dad kick me off....and for more storyness!
when you see this font it means she's dreaming :)
I closed my baby blue Apple laptop with a sigh as I made my zillionth wish of the day. I reached to my backpack which lay on the floor in front of the nighstand. My adopted parents' insurance agency was taking off big time so we currently in a smancy first class hotel in downtown Dallas. While they attended some boring convention meeting thingy downstairs, my sister Carli (she's not adopted) and I were left to fend for ourselves. Well, kinda. There was the not so mini mini bar, room service, jillions of vending machines, HD TV, amazing internet connection, and of course a hugemongous hotel to explore.
Out of the backpack of wonder came my blue iPod nano chromatic. Though it may seem otherwise, Carli and I are nowhere near spoiled. These were our unexpected "big" Christmas presents. You see, Mom has this thing were she makes us think that never in a zillion years would we get this one thing and then Christmas morning there it was. And it worked, every single year. This past year, we got our iPods, mine blue hers orange. The year before, I got my laptop, she got her Nintendo DS. This year, we were hoping for an orange Apple laptop for her and I had my eyes on a baby blue digital camera with wifi.
"Carls, I'm going exploring." I called towards the bathroom as I tied my spiffy new shoeties. (A/N: yea, I said ties instead of laces but that's just the way I roll :D)
"Kaydokers, can I use your laptop? Pleeeeease Melly?"
"Can't you use the old one?" I whinned. Dad had just gotten a new "work" laptop, so Carli had silently laid dibs on the other since she didn't have one of her own.
"But yours is so much faster. And I thought you loed me..." she trailed off for the so called "dramatic effect".
"I do, but UGH!" I could just see smirk on her face as I gave in. "Fine! But you know the rules!"
"Yay! Thank you sissy!"
"Yea, yea. Love you too." I grabbed my chocolate Aero hoodie, ice blue Chocolate cell, a room key, set my Jonai playlist to shuffle, and was out the door in 10 seconds flat...I think.
I received weird looks as I skipped down the hallway to "Thats' Just The Way We Roll", but that's a good thing. I could check it off on my "To Maitain A Heathly Level Of Insanity..." list.
The lobby was practically emptey when I arrived so I plopped myself down on the comfy couch far away from the freaky old man that was very intrested in his fingers. "Eternity" came on and I made another wish before I dozed off.
The smell of smoke woke me up from my dreamless sleep.
"Mommy! Mommy! Where are you?" I screamed. There was no reply. Smart for a 2-year-old, I felt my bedroom door with the back of my hand only to snatch it back. The door was a thousand degrees, but luckly it wasn't the only way out.
I pushed back the screen of my already open window and looked out into the back yard. My parents and brothers where nowhere in sight, they must be in the front.
Hugging my doll and memory box to my chest, I climbed on top of my toy chest, climbed out the window, and stepped out onto the patio cover. I shut my eyes tightly and jumped down on to the trampoline below. Once on the ground, I ran out the back gate and sat down in the tall grass, hugging my knees to my chest and sobbing. I rocked myself back and forth in an effort to calm down, and it was working until someone started shaking me.
“Wake up! Wake up!”
I opened my eyes to find another pair of hazel ones exactly like mine staring back looking very concerned.
