I've been gone a while and I felt that I needed to get back into some writing. So, here's a little prologue I devised. I hope you continue to read! :D
Prologue
Blindness took over my eyes in the few seconds that I can remember. The only sense that I had a grasp on was my hearing. At first, I swore it was an angel beckoning to me for my arrival. The voice was soft, soothing, and - when I really listened - familiar; the sound that I had longed for these past few days. It called my name repeatedly, by with no urgency. I tried to flicker my eyes open enough to catch one last glimpse before I fell back into the darkness that my fate awaited me - one more picture to carry on. His face barely broke through my heavy eyelids but, it some how managed to leave the impression I hoped for. His eyes were filled with tears that he didn't have time to release. His face flushed and nose a slight pink color. His lips were trembling as he continued to repeat my name. I loved the way he said it with such a softness that I hadn't noticed until now. My throat was hoarse and I feared I would not be able to release the words. Somehow, with the last breath I could conjure up, I said those last words; the ones I needed him to hear. "I love you, Joe"
Oh, how quickly these threads seem to slip away . . . bump.
