Alrighty then, this is for LeZi and Ashley, since they're just the apple of my eye and all that crap.
Chapter 10
“WAIT!!!” I let go of the knob, dropped my suitcases and turned to face him. He was still lying on the bed, but had somehow managed to roll over so he was facing me.
“Yes?” I said impatiently.
“I don’t want you to goodbye me.”
“I think I should. You made it clear you don’t need me, and that you wanted me to leave. So I am leaving.”
“Don’t go.” I sighed. “Please?” I closed my eyes.
“Joseph,”
“It’s Joe. Or Mr. Jonas if you’re nasty.” He started laughing again.
“I can’t talk to you while you’re drunk.” I walked over to him and rolled up one of my sleeves. “Give me your arm.”
“Why?”
“I am going to bite you, Joseph.”
“But—but that will hurt me.” He whimpered and tried to move away from me as I sat down on the bed next to him.
“I am going to drain the alcohol from your system. And then you are going to bite me. I’ve been a vampire much longer than you have. I have a better tolerance to alcohol. Then, you and I can talk intelligently. Ok?”
“I don’t want but don’t hurt me, OK?” He held out his arm to me. My fangs grew and I bit his wrist. “How, I, you’re teeth cut me, how come I didn’t feel nothing?”
“Two reasons: One, it was a small bite; and two, with how much alcohol is in your system, I could probably shoot you and you wouldn’t feel it.” I held out my wrist to him. “Now, bite me.”
“I don’t wanna.” He pouted. “It’s gonna taste oogy.”
“Oogy isn’t even a word. Just do it.” He finally took my wrist and plunged his teeth into my skin. The moment the skin began to break, I felt his fangs appear, which finished the bite. He started to suck the blood from me and I quickly took his bleeding wrist and did the same. After a few moments, I lowered his arm from my mouth, and yanked mine away from him, knowing he couldn’t control his blood lust yet. “How do you feel?”
“Like I have the headache from hell.” He grabbed his head and groaned.
“That, dear Joseph, is called a hangover.” I stood and went back for my suitcases. I opened one and pulled out some Band-Aids. I covered my wound and then his. “Why did you get drunk?”
“I don’t want to be a vampire anymore.”
“I understand that, Joseph. But did you seriously think that drinking gin would somehow change you back into a human?”
“No, I just…thank you for the ear plugs.” I nodded. “I don’t know how I would have performed without them.” He sat up next to me.
“Joseph.” He looked at me, dejected. “Joe, I get that you’re upset. I do. I get that you don’t want to be a vampire, that you want to go back to being a normal human boy…well, as normal as you were before Samar turned you. I wish I could give you that life back. But I can’t. I wish I could tell you that this life will be easy. I can’t do that either. If you’re serious about wanting me to leave, I will, tonight. But if you want me to stay, I can guarantee you that I will be here to help you with each new problem you face.” He tackled me with a hug.
“I’m sorry.”
“Now, Joe, don’t go apologizing. You’ll only get mad at me later for it.” I smiled. He only hugged me harder, his face buried in my hair. “Joe?”
“Yeah?” He didn’t move, but something was different.
“Are you crying?”
“No.” He sniffed. I smiled and wrapped my arms around him, letting him (not) cry. Eventually, he fell asleep in my arms. I eased myself out of his grasp, and tucked him into bed. And I ended up spending the night in that dam.n chair anyway.
