Introduction

"Jenny, " Keri said "Are you absolutely out of your mind? This is a recipe for disaster."
"Keri." Jenny replied "Kevin can help me."
"How?"
"He's a rockstar. And you know how badly I want to be one."
"How does that change anything?"
"If I can somehow get him to help me train my voice and play guitar, then I'll be right on track."
"I don't know about this. He just cost you a head injury, and your dad won't want you falling for anyone while he's in the clink."
"This is strictly business. I'll just get him to help me, and then I'll pursue a solo career."

Chapter One

This story begins on the streets of a rather large suburban area in the United States known as New York City. The biggest city in the entire country, actually. But that’s not what this tale is about. This story is about a young girl named Jenny Ferra. She has lived in this fateful city almost her entire life, and it never seemed to be very interesting. Whether it was going to thousands of Yankees games with her father, or watching the Thanksgiving parade from the window of her apartment, nothing really was all that great.

So this tale begins now, in the midst of it all, on a rainy afternoon, in New York City.

“I’m home!” Jenny shouted as she walked in the door. She then realized the house was empty. “If there’s anyone here?” She mumbled.

The girl walked over to the countertop, noticing a small slip of paper there.

“ Jenny, I am not able to come home today. I was arrested for violating my probation and am back in jail. Keri will take care of you until I get out in a few years.
Love, daddy.”
  She read the note aloud.

“Great. Daddy’s in jail again. Nothing unusual.”

Her father had been in and out of jail since Jenny was in 4th grade. Now, she was 18. 8 years. 4 times in prison. Her best friend, Keri had been helping by taking care of Jenny. Keri was a few years older than Jenny, but they were still the best of friends beside their differences.

“Well, I see your daddy’s back to where he belongs,” Keri said.

“Yeah.” Jenny turned around to look at her friend. “wait a minute. How did you get in here?”

“Your dad asked me to come over and told me where he hides the key. In that plant outside.”

Jenny rolled her eyes. “dad.”

“Well, it’s not my fault.”

“Yeah, my dad’s been in and out of jail since he and mom split up. I don’t know what went wrong between those two, I mean, they were so happy.”

“Okay, let’s not get into a lot of drama while your dad’s gone. I promised him I’d take care of you, and that’s exactly what I plan to do.”

“Dude, that rhymed!”

“Focus, Jenny.”
