Chapter 13 B, I believe
The next morning, I was up just moments before my alarm went off. I turned it off, and set to getting myself ready. After a quick shower, I hurried to get dressed.
“Shirt to wear? Shirt to wear?” I was panicking.
“The blue one.” I whirled around at hearing Nisha’s voice. “The blue one. With the stripes. She’ll love it.”
“What are you talking about?” I tried to say as nonchalant as possible, as I quickly thumbed through my clothes for the blue shirt I knew she was talking about.
“You’re obviously not up this early for anything other than you have some secret meeting with a girl. Don’t try to pretend otherwise, Nick.” She smiled.
“How did you…does everyone…oh, dam.n.”
“Chill. I know because it’s pretty obvious to me, the way you’ve been moping about since you got back from your ‘road-trip’ or whatever it was. And the way you’ve been secretive with your plans for today. It doesn’t take a genius to figure things out.” She paused, a wicked smile crossing her face. “And no, your brothers are totally clueless.”
“Thanks.” I said sheepishly.
“Oh, and I made you breakfast…something you can take with you on your drive.” She handed me something wrapped in a napkin. It was small, but I could tell it would fill me up. And the smell…awesome.
“Nisha, you are the best!” I sat my breakfast down on the edge of my bed and slipped the blue shirt over my head.
“I know.” She smiled. Then she slapped her forehead. “God, I need a vacation from Joe. I’m sounding like him now.” I laughed, and she grinned. “Have fun. And stay safe.” And with that, she walked away, leaving me to finish getting ready.
