Awe, Lexi!!!! OK, well, I am posting the date chapter now, dedicated to Lexi...I would give you my mallet.
Chapter 15...the DATE... (it's short, but oh well.)
The rest of the drive was spent talking. She finally told me the rest of her family had been killed in a plane crash. She looked so solemn; I reached over and squeezed her hand. After that, she let me hold her hand the rest of the way.
“We’re here!” I said, pulling into a parking lot in front of the Cannery Casino.
“We’re in Vegas?” She eyed me suspiciously. “You’re not dragging me to some crazy drive-through marriage chapel, are you?”
“No.” I laughed. “This is our date.”
“What is?” I just smiled. I shut off the car and jumped out, ran around to hold her door open for her. “I’m not sure I trust you.” She said with a smile. “What have you got up your sleeve?”
“Just my arm.” She laughed, and I led her into the casino. Just as we entered, we were hit by the unique sights and sounds and smells one can find only at a casino. She gave me a questioning look, but I just smiled, took her hand, and led her towards the back. Finally, we made it to the entrance of the club. I paid the entrance fees, and a big burly dude stamped both our hands. “I really hope you like it.”
I opened the door, and we stepped inside. I could hear the opening strains of ‘Day in the Life’ from the Beatles tribute band that graced the stage. I looked at Zee, who grinned like she’d just died and gone to heaven. Her eyes bounced from classic car to classic car that were displayed just beyond the stage. The casino had opened one of the club’s walls leading to a gated area outside, to make it a classic music and classic car show. They had stands set up for barbeque and raffles to win certain cars. She looked at me, and I couldn’t help but smile at the sheer joy I saw in her eyes.
“I did good?”
“You did PERFECT!” She said, and then it happened. That beautiful, adorable face of hers leaned up and kissed me. Nothing beyond a small kiss on the lips, but still, it held the magic of a great first kiss that would hopefully lead to many more.
