Chapter 17...just for Lexi-con
[WARNING...this chapter contains mechanically explicit scenes]
“This is hard.”
“No one said it would be easy, Rock-star, but you gotta do it.” I growled in frustration at Zee.
“This would be so much easier if you were here and could take care of it.”
“You’ve never done this before?” She was laughing at me. I rolled my eyes, but smiled. I could just picture her, flopped down on her couch, eyes closed as she lay down, her soft hair cascading over the arm of the couch she’d rested against. “I thought this was something every guy knew how to do, and that they’ve all done it at least once.”
“Well, I’m not most guys.”
“No kidding, Rock-star.” I sighed into the phone. I was apparently NEVER going to get rid of that nickname. ARG. “Just do it.”
“No! I’m gonna get messy.” I pouted, and even though I knew she couldn’t see it, she laughed.
“You’re pouting right now, aren’t you?”
“No.”
“Yeah you were. Don’t lie. Your pants could catch on fire, and THEN where would you be?” God, she was so adorable. “Please, for me, just do it?”
“I’m gonna get messy!” I know I was being lame, but I liked talking to her like this. It made the distance a little more bearable.
“You’re not gonna get messy!” She sighed. “Look, I’ll talk to you the whole time, give you step-by-step. Will that help?” She purred into the phone. I bit my tongue, but dam.n my girl had a sexy voice.
“Ok, fine. What do I need to do?”
“First, are you in clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty?”
“You just said I wouldn’t get messy!!!” I protested.
“Chill, Rock-star. It’s just in case.”
“Well, just in case, yeah, I am in clothes I don’t mind getting dirty.” She laughed and I grinned.
“Cute.” I knew she was rolling her eyes.
“I try.”
“Alright, now lay down on the ground, and then slide up under her.” It was difficult, with one hand holding my phone to my ear, but I followed her directions. “Now, right in the center, but just to your left, you should see a box looking thing, with a plug in it.” I looked around till I found what she’d described.
“Right.”
“Put the pan directly under the plug.” I growled, crawled back out from under the car, grabbed the pan and slid back. “Have the pan now?” She laughed.
“Yes, as a matter of fact, I do.”
“Ok, now remember, righty-tighty, lefty-loosey. So turn the plug to the left. If it’s on too tight, which it might be, you will need a wrench or pliers.” I growled again, then proceeded to crawl out from under the car again, grab a pair of pliers, and slid back under again.
“Don’t say it.” I warned, half-serious. I unscrewed the plug, and the oil came spilling out into the pan. “Is it supposed to be this icky looking?”
“Dear lord, ICKY??? Are you five now?” She laughed. I rolled my eyes, but couldn’t stop the smile that made its way onto my face.
“Yeah, but you love me anyway.” Crap. I immediately regretted my wording. We hadn’t used the L word with each other. And while I knew I loved Zee, I wasn’t sure if I was moving too fast. I didn’t want her to feel pressured into saying it back, or lose her if she wasn’t looking for that kind of commitment.
“Yeah, I guess I do.” I held my breath. She couldn’t seriously be saying what I thought I heard her say. “Nick?”
“Huh?”
“Did I just screw things up by saying that? Is it too soon for you? Can we just pretend I never said that?” She said quickly. “Oh, god, I’ve ruined everything now, haven’t I?”
“I love you too, Zee.”
“Really?” Her voice was soft and fragile.
“Yeah. And you love me?”
“Of course!”
“Then you better not make any plans next week. I’m bringing you out here to meet my family.” I heard her squeal with joy.
“Oh, my god, I love you so much. And I can’t wait till I get to see you again!”
“Me either.”

Yeah, so I cut out a bunch in regards to the oil change...cause you're supposed to change the oil filter when you change the oil, and technically, all he did was drain the oil, but whatever.
