GASP...it's chapter 16 yay
Immediately, both the wolf and the vampire leap at the bird, breaking whatever hold it had on me, and sending all three of them crashing to the ground. The horrible beast shrieks as both the vampire and wolf bite into its flesh. With how badly I am wounded, I cannot move, cannot flee. I cannot close my eyes, as each scream seems to echo inside my head. I can’t look away.
"Kevin." I recognize the voice of Pari, now at my side. She takes my hand and gasps. "JOE! NICK!" She calls out frantically, towards the writhing mass of bodies, each trying to gain the upper hand. Then she turns back to me. "Kevin, you’re going to be ok." This puts me on instant al.ert. No one says that unless something is terribly wrong, right?
"Pari…" Even inside my head, my voice sounds foreign to me…weak and raspy. She kisses my cheek and then jumps to her feet. I watch as she makes a mad dash in between the thrashing and fighting. She grabs hold of both the wolf and the vampire, and all three instantly disappear.
The bird staggers a few steps and then collapses on the sand. Slowly, I see the feathers begin to fade away, all the bird-like features vanish, until all that is left is a girl. My girl. Mona.
“What happened?” Joe asked as he, Nick, and Pari suddenly appeared back in the room with the others.
“I—he got hit by a blast from Mona.” Pari tried to explain.
“He’s in shock.” Zee said, looking up from her spot on the bed next to Kevin.
“Pari, do something!” Nick urged, but the faerie shook her head. “What do you mean, no?”
“She can’t do anything for him now. She’s dream fae. She can’t heal him.” Nisha answered solemnly. “We have to turn him.”
“No!” Pari half-yelled.
“Pari, if I don’t, he WILL die.” Nisha glared at the girl. “I know you love him, but I can’t NOT turn him.” Pari nodded, but closed her eyes, unable to watch as Nisha bared her fangs and slid them easily into Kevin’s neck.
