Wyckoff Park has always been Ashley’s place to relax. Her place to think and enjoy the breeze, the scent the air was filled with. When her parents announced that they were leaving, her heart broke. No longer could she have her afternoons spent running around the park, no care in the world. No longer could she spend her days exploring the park. She cried about a lot of things. Including the park, and the person that came with it.
Kevin Jonas used to love going to Wyckoff Park. One of the things he loved about it was the girl. This girl with curly brown hair always a bit messy, from the wind playing around with it. Her light green eyes welcomed even the most unwelcoming people. Her laugh made everybody smile, even the grumpiest of men. The two had a bond together. But it was broken, when she did the weirdest thing. She didn’t show up at the park for two days in a row.

Now Ashley was 18 years old. She had been away from the park for about three years. Walking around the perimeter brought back memories for her. The boy she had met. The voice that had whispered her name, and the accidental kiss she enjoyed. His name was Kevin, but she never got his last name, causing her to lose contact with him. With a pang of guilt, she realized she never gave him her last name.
She was 13 when she met him. There was a young boy, playing guitar at a bench. The melody instantly caught her attention, and she fell in love with it. Just as her heart secretly fell in love with the boy. They instantly started a conversation, and found that they were alike in more than many ways.
Kevin was sitting on the bench he had sat on when he met Ashley. He had brought his guitar with him, hoping to impress her. He remembered her instantly coming up to him and starting a conversation.
They had been good friends for a year when the kiss happened. Kevin was sneaking up on her, trying to scare her. Instead, she had turned her head, not realizing that they were so close. Their lips touched, and their hearts glowed. Sparks flew for both of them in those two seconds, but they didn’t dare show it.

The day had come a year later. The day that Ashley needed to tell Kevin she was moving. She had known this day would come for about a month, but kept on avoiding it. She knew that this was the wrong thing to do, but she did it anyway. Her heart broke as she walked to the park, sure she would find Kevin there. As long as she had known Kevin, he would always be at the park, every single day. But she didn’t know that he was there just to see her.
When she old him, her heart broke completely. His heart shattered. The tears formed in their hearts, but not in their eyes. They didn’t want to give away their love for eachother, no matter how painful it would be to hide it. Ashley and Kevin knew that they would never be able to see eachother, either that, or the chances were far too low to rely on. No matter how much they dreaded to, they needed to go on.

Like a sweet embrace
Sitting on the swing she loved so much, Ashley shed her silent tears. In romance novels she had read, the boy and girl always find eachother. They fall in love all over again, and end up getting married, living happily ever after. Why couldn’t this have happened with Kevin and Her? Why couldn’t she just magically appear infront of him, to find that he had been waiting for her?
Kevin sighed as he sat down on the bench. This had grown to be one of his favorite places in the world. He had brought his guitar with him, to play in silence. Though he had become famous, and he had never written the song down, he still remembered the song he had played for Ashley. Almost as if he had made I up a few seconds ago. Thinking about her, he unwittedly began to strum the melody that reminded him of the girl he loved so much.
Lifting her head, Ashley was dumbstruck. She head a melody, a melody she loved so much. It was familiar, but she could not place her finger on it. Standing up, she walked over to it. As if she were in a trance. Her knees went weak as she saw the person who was playing it. Kevin.

Ashley walked over to Kevin, just as she had done when they first met. A conversation was instantly started, and she knew he recorgnized her. They spent the next hour or two just talking. Talking about how life had been since Ashley left. They learned that Ashley had been accepted into the college she always wanted to go to, and that Kevin and his brothers were rising to fame every day.
They joked about their future, uncertain of what it would really be. They joked about how it would be if they suddenly became super heroes and saved the planet. They joked about what it would be like if they got married.
If only they knew just how much they wanted it to be true…
