Chapter One

“I can’t stop the rain from falling, can’t stop my heart from calling you, it’s calling you.”
I sat up as fast as I could, not knowing exactly what was going on. I looked at the clock: 6:00 a.m. I will kill this boy.
“Do you know what time it is Nicholas?!” I asked groggily, but nonetheless mad.
“Six?” he laughed a bit.
“Why in God’s name are you laughing?”
“You told me to call you when we got home, and well-“
“OHMYGOD! I’m coming over.”
I hung up and practically ran in my closet. After dressing faster than I ever have in my life, I ran in the bathroom. When I was done with brushing everything that needed to be brushed, and straightened, and made up, I flew down the stairs, out the door, across the street, and into the Jonas household.
“Gennie Rai!” Joe yelled and ran towards me.
“Joey J!” I responded, laughing.
I hugged one of my two best friends, neither of which I’d seen in three months. Nick came out of the kitchen and opened his arms, I instantly ran into them.
“I missed you, Rai,” he said sincerely.
“I missed you so, so much Nick,” I responded.
I had known the guys since I moved to Wyckoff, New Jersey in third grade and started going to the church where their dad was a pastor. Joe was the one I immediately clicked with, even though I was Nick’s age. After a while though, Nick became my absolute best friend in the entire world, Joe coming in close second. I was also very good friends with Kevin and Dani, but I stopped seeing them as much after the wedding.
“What are we going to do today guys?” I asked, sitting next to Frankie on the couch.
“Well, I was thinking nothing too drastic, or anything that involved a car,” Joe said.
“Maybe a very long nap,” Nick suggested.
“If you guys are that tired I can-“
“NO!” they yelled in unison, “Let’s watch NCIS, I haven’t seen it in forever,” Joe continued.
After about three episodes my phone rang. I excused myself, seeing it was my boyfriend. I walked into the kitchen and answered the call.
“Hey Gabe,” I said.
“Hey Gen, what are you doing today?” I cringed at his nickname for me. I never had the heart to tell him how much I despised being called “Gen.”
“Hanging out with some friends,” I answered, “why?”
“I need to talk to you, about something important. Meet me at the park?”
“Sure,” I replied.
“Ok, see you there in five.”
I hung up and went into the living room. I told Joe and Nick where I was going, and that I’d be back really soon.
“See ya later alligator!” Joe yelled as I left.
“Bye Joey J!"
