JONASTASTIC!: A JONAS BROTHERS STORY
Chapter 1
"Dial faster!" my BFF Cassie exclaimed. "I'm dialing as fast as I can!" I yelled. We were both tense. And a little excited. Ok, a lot excited. After all, the fate of the world rested in our hands. This phone call could change our lives. Forever. My hands started to sweat. I was beginning to doubt. "He's not going to answer." I said in a hoase voice. "Maybe he will..." said Cassie hopefully. I could see she was doutbing, too. "And maybe he won't ." I said sourly. "He's got to!" wailed Cassie. I put my arm around her, setting my phone down. She was about to reply when a voice came from my phone. "Hello, this is Wacky Wally, your favorite afternoon DJ on your favorite radio station! And guess what? You're the right caller!" Cassie and I looked at each other. "Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Wacky Wally chuckled. "Let me guess, teenage girls? And I asume you are Jonas brothers fans?" "Yeeeeessssss" I managed to croak. "Ok, can I get you names, ladies?" "I'm Molly Totoffoli" I said. My nervousness was kicking in. I looked at Cassie. She was staring at the phone like it was an atom bomb. "And she's Cassie Rose" I added quickly, doing my best to shake Cassie out of her trance. "Ok, you girls have to play a little game in order to win the contest. I'm just going to ask you a few questions. Oh, and don't worry, the questions are Jonas Brothers related. Just tell me when to start the timer." I looked at Cassie. She gave me a lopsided grin as if to say, "Let's just give up now." I gulped. it was now or never. "Ok, Wally, start the timer." "Ok there's thirty seconds on the clock. First question: How long does Nick say it took him to write the song S.O.S?" "Ten minutes!" Cassie and I said in unision. "That is...correct!" Wacky Wally exclaimed. "Next question: What is Joe's birthday?" "August 15!" Cassie replied. She was a Joe Jonas expert. "That is...correct!" "Last question: What is Kevin's middle name?" I was about to blurt out "Paul!" when Cassie covered my mouth. "It's Kevin. His real first name is Paul." she said. "Are you sure?" I asked. "Positive!" Cassie replied. "Ok..." I said. I gulped. My hands were so slippery that the phone flew out of my hand! Cassie and I both dived for it at the same time. I got to it first. "Five seconds!" Wally said. I was scared. what if Cassie was wrong? But I had to trust her. We were BFFs, after all. and if she was wrong I would forgive her. Eventualy. I looked at her nervous face. I gulped. "Kevin!" I exclaimed. "And that is...CORRECT!!!!!" Wally yelled. Cassie and I grinned at each other. We would get to meet JB! We were so excited! I felt like I was about to faint! OMJ! "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Chapter 2
Cassie's POV
Molly was unusually quiet on our ride to the airport. I decided to see what was wrong with her. "So," I said coyly."are you going to tell Nick you love him?" "What?" she asked. "Oh come on," I said."you always say how much you like him, and how he's such an inspiration to you, and you always kiss his poster, and you even have the same birthday and-" "Enough already!" Molly exclaimed. "I'm not in love with Nick Jonas. We're actually meeting them. That changes things. I'm in love with Nick Jonas as...a rockstar. I'm not in love with Nick Jonas as a person." "Yet." I said under my breath.
2 hours later
We boarded the plane and had taken off safely. I was board. Molly was listening to her iPod. My mom was chatting with Molly's mom. I flipped through a magazine. I couldn't concentrate on the words. I was worried about Molly. We would e meeting the Jonas Brothers in less than 24 hours. It seemed like the excitment hadn't kicked in yet. I shook Molly and pointed out the window. "Look." I said. We were starting to descend. "Molly," I said."be happy! We're going to be meeting our idols! Why aren't you excited? This is the chance of a lifetime! I'm worried about you." She looked up. "I guess you're right. I am happy. It's just that..." Her voice trailed off. She was lost in thought. "It's just that I'm nervous. I mean what if I trip or do something stupid? This is our oppertunity to meet them! I'm just really, really nervous. I was suprised. Molly? Nervous? You've got to be kidding me. "Don't worry. I got your back." I said. That seemed to make her feel better. We landed in L.A. Then I started to get nervous. What will I wear? What if they hate me? What if- Molly interrupted my thoughts. "We're here!" she squealed. I relaxed. Just be yourself, I thought. "Here we go." I said as we got our luggage out from the luggage compartments. As we made our way down the aisle, Molly stopped in front of the door leading into the airport. "What is it?" I asked. "Nothing." she said. She whispered something in my ear. I grinned. "1,2,3" she said. "LIVING THE DREAM, BABY!"
Chapter 3
We arrived at the airport, got our luggage, and drove to the hotel in record time. Now we had even more time to prepare to meet the Jonas Brothers. "Cassie," I said,"which outfit should I wear?" Ignoring me, she yelled, "Check out this Plasma screen TV!" I sighed. Once Cassie got excited, there was no stopping her from going crazy. I walked into the room to find her jumping on the bed! "Calm down!" I exclaimed. I grabbed my iPod and walked to the door, yelling, "I'm gonna check out the hotel." There was no reply from Cassie. Shocker. I needed to clear my head. I turned on my iPod. The wonderful music of the Jonas Brothers filled my head. I relaxed immediatly. I walked to the Lobby and got a soda from a vending machine. I was sipping my soda when my nervousness kicked in. (again) I was scared. What if I made a total fool of myself in front of Kevin, Nick, and Joe? I walked around some more. I skipped to my favorite song. 'Just Friends' blared out of the headphones. I guess I wasn't looking where I was going. Maybe I was just to absorbed in the song. Or maybe I was just a big klutz. I closed my eyes and hummed along. Suddenly a strong force pushed me down. I opened my eyes to see myself lying on the ground. I sat up to look for the jerk who knocked me down. "Oh my gosh, are you okay?" a soft voice came from behind me. "No." I said flatly. I was horrified. I was so clumsy. How did I expect to meet the Jonas Brothers when I couldn't go five minutes without falling? I thought I was about to cry. "Ummm...do you need any help?" "No, Thanks." I said, my voice breaking. "I'm really sorry. This was all my fault." I looked up. This mysterious person was trying to take the blame. "It's my fault, actually." I said. I realized that my iPod was missing. Where's my iPod?" I said aloud. It had taken me a year's worth of allowance to pay for it. "Here." the voice said. The stranger placed it in my palm. His hand was warm. "Here let me help you." the velvety voice said. He pulled me up with amazing strength. "Thank you." I said. My vision focused. I gasped in suprise. "Your-your Nic..." "Nick Jonas?" he asked. "Yeah." I said, finding my voice. "I see you're a fan." he said. Then i realized my iPod was still playing 'Just Friends.' "Yeah." I said again. I was sooo emarassed. "Oh my gosh you're all wet!" Nick said. I touched my tee-shirt to find it was soaked with my soda. "Here I'll get you a towel." he said. I could only nod. "Come with me." he said. I stood there, dumfounded. "Come onnn." Nick said, pulling me along. He pulled me up to one of the hotel rooms. "Wait here." he commanded. "Okay." I said. He came out with a fluffy towel. "Here." he said. "Thanks." I said. "Do you need help finding your room?" "No." I sniffed. But he insisted on walking me there. "Were are Joe and Kevin?" I asked curiously. "They went to dinner." he replied. "Why," he asked,"are you disappionted you didn't get to meet them?" "No, you're my favorite!" I blurted. I clamped my hand over my mouth. I couldnt believe I had just said that! Nick laughed. "Here we are." he said. "Thanks...for everything." I said. "You're welcome." he said, looking at me strangely. "Uhh...Later, I guess." I said hopelessly. "Yeah," he said,"Later."
Chapter 4
Cassie's POV
I was sitting on the couch watching TV. Suddenly I heard voices outside and figured Molly was back. Wait...voices? Is she with someone? Who's out there? I wondered. I put my ear against the door. I heard someone say,"Later." I ran back to the couch. Molly would be mad if she knew I was evesdropping on her. Then the door swung open. She walked in as if she were in a daze. "Molly! What happened?" I said. She collapsed on to the nearest bed. She looked like she was in a dream. "Nick Jonas." she said. "That's what happened."
5 minutes later...
"Shut up!" I screamed. "It's true, I swear." she said. "I can't believe you already met Nick Jonas!" I exclaimed. "I've got to go find Joe!" I cried. "No, you can't. They went out to dinner." Molly said. "Okay, fine. But you've got to act cool when we meet them tomorrow. Like you've never even met Nick Jonas. Maybe he won't reconize you." "But that would be kinda cool if he did." Molly said dreamily. "So now you're in love with Nick Jonas...as a person." "Yeah. He was really sweet and he helped me up and he got me a towel and he's even cuter in person....." "We need to think of a plan. So I can date Joe and you can date Nick!" I exclaimed. "Brillinant!" Molly said sarcasticly. "The only problem is...we only have an hour tomorrow when we meet them." I said. "We have to casually bump into them in the hotel after we meet them." Molly said. "They'll remember us, we hang out and eventually...they fall in love with us." I said. "Good plan." we said at the same time. "No there's only one thing to worry about." I said. "What's that?" Molly asked. I gulped. "Getting them to fall for us."
Chapter 5
My mom was driving Cassie and I to the studio where we would meet JB. I felt dizzy. Cassie was overtalking. (she does that when she's nervous) I hope she doesn't do anything crazy. We pulled up to the studio (Eeeppp!) and go out of the car. Big Rob was waiting outside the studio for us. "Here, come on inside." Big Rob said. "Okay, Cassie, this is it." I whispered. "Yeah." she said back. We walked into the room. And, like I had expected...Cassie went nuts. "Oh My Jonas, I am like your biggest fan!!!! Iloveyourmusicandyoursongsandyoursooocuteand-" "She really excited to meet you guys." I explained. "I'm Molly, By the way." "Hi, I'm Joe." "I'm Kevin." "And you're Nick." I finished. "Yeah." he said, looking up. His mouth dropped open. So he does remember me. Has he been thinking about me? I wondered. Don't be silly. He just reconizes your face. I told myself. It was an awkward silence. Nick still staring at me, Kevin looking confusedly at me, Joe muttering something to Kevin, and Cassie staring at Joe with a dreamy expression on her face. "Awkward!" Joe blurted out. We all laughed. "Ummm...I'm Cassie." Cassie said. "And I know who you guys are."she said. She shook their hands. Cassie and Joe clicked immediatly. They started talking, and then Kevin joined their conversation. I didn't know if I should join in or not. I gave Cassie the Help-me-I'm-in-a-situation look. She grinned and I knew she had no intention of helping me. I decided to try and start a conversation with Nick. "Ummm...so how it going?" I asked hoplessly. "Uhh...good, I guess." he replied, sounding uninterested. I groaned. I pretended to be interested in the vase of flowers on the table next to where I was sitting. "So have you fallen again since I saw you last?" I jerked my head up. "No, and if I remember correctly, I didn't fall, I was knocked down." I said tartly. "Oh. Yeah. I guess that was what happened." Nick sounded sorry. He picked up his guitar. Oh, great. I'm so boring he would rather practice his guitar than talk to me. I thought. "You want to hear a song?" he asked sweetly. "Me?" I asked. "Yes, you." he replied. "Sure." I said. He strummed his guitar a few times. My heart totally melted. His voice was beautiful as he sang: "Hello beautiful,
how's it goin'
I hear it's wonderful
in California.
I've been missing you
it's true.
But tonight-"
He stopped. I looked up to see Kevin, Joe, and Cassie starting at us. Cassie raised an eyebrow at me. I shrugged. I became totally absorbed in the flowers again. "Uhh, I have to talk to Molly for a sec." Cassie said. I flashed her my what-the-heck-do-you-think-your-doing look. She ignored it. She practiclly dragged me off the couch. "What?" I asked, anoyed. "You totally had a moment!!!!" "What?" I asked. "That's insane." "No, what's insane is that you can't see that he's into you!" Cassie replied. "Sure. Whatever you say. now I kinda want to hang out with the Jonas Brothers before we had to leave." I said. "Fine. Whatever." she said. I went back and sit on the couch. Nick was still strumming his guitar. I looked around. Where are Cassie, Joe, and Kevin? I thought. I heard a noise from the hallway. I got up. I peered down the hallway. They were coming. With water guns. Filled with marshmellows. Joe lifted his gun and a marshmellow popped out. "Ahhhhhhh!" I screamed. Nick looked up to see that we were under attack. He jumped behind the couch, and I followed. "What do we do?" I asked. "We don't have marshmellow guns. We don't stand a chance." "What if I distract them and you grab some marshmellow guns." "Okay..." I grabbed a marshmellow that had bounced off my head. When Joe wasn't looking, I threw the marshmellow at him, immatating Cassie's voice and saying, "Chew on this sucker!" Joe turned and shot some at Cassie. Cassie fired back at both Joe and Kevin. While they were shooting marshmellows at each other, Nick sneaked away and got two marshmellow guns. "Fire!" he yelled after handing me a marshmellow gun. Marshmellows were everywhere when we ended the Marshmellow War. It was the best day of my life. Then we had to leave. I said bye to Joe and Kevin. They gave us their autographs and some tee-shirts. "Bye." I said to Nick. "How long are you guys staying in the hotel?" he asked. "A week." I replied. "Oh." he sounded dissapointed. "It was nice seeing you...again." "Yeah. You too." he said. "I'll see you lat-" Nick cut me off. "Here." he said, handing me a rose from the flower vase. "Thanks." I said. He smiled. "Bye." he said. "Bye." I replied. I walked to the limo that was waiting to pick us up and drive us to the hotel. I hugged Kevin and Joe goodbye. I got into the limo. I waved to Nick. He waved back with a half smile on his face. I smelled the beautiful rose Nick had given me. It was the best day of my life.
Chapter 6
We met the guys back at the hotel. "Hey, us guys were talking..." Joe started. "And we were wondering if you guys wanted to have dinner with us tonight." Kevin finished. "Sure!" Cassie replied. "Great. We'll come by your room at 7:00." Joe said. Nick was being unusually quiet. "Hey, Molly, is it okay with you girls if I bring...ummm...a friend?" "Ummm...that's okay, I guess." I said hesitantly. "Cool." Nick replied. he looked relieved. Who's this so-called 'friend' he's bringing? He's hiding something from me. And I'm going to find out what. I thought.
2 hours later
There was a knock on our hotel room door. I looked through the peep hole. "Who is it?" my mom asked. "It's Nick." I replied. "We're having dinner with them tonight at seven. Is that okay?" I asked, crossing my fingers. "Sure, but stay with the boys the whole time. I don't want you getting lost." "Yes!!!!" I said. I opened the door. "Can we talk?" Nick asked. "Surrreeee...." I said. We walked around the Lobby, talking. "Can I ask you something?" he asked. I felt butterflies in my stomach. Was he going to ask me to be his girlfriend? What are you thinking? Of course he's not going to ask you that. You just met. And besides, you don't deserve someone like him. I told the voice inside my head to shut up. "Here, let's sit." Nick said. We sat down on the edge of the fountain. "Have you ever loved someone that you know you don't deserve?" "Yessss." I sighed. I looked into his eyes. "Because I think I'm ummm...in love with someone. And I don't know how to tell her." My mind went out of control. Was he talking about me? If he was, I could totally make it work to my advantage. "I would...give her roses...and chocolates, maybe, and I would tell you- I mean her how much you loved her. I would be completly honest with my feelings. Then, after your first date, kiss her. She'll totally fall in love with you." "Great! You give awesome advice. I'm totally going to use that with Jennette!" "Huh??????" My mouth hung open. "Jennette?" "Oh, yeah. I forgot to tell you. Jennette's my new girlfriend! I met her yesterday, after I uhh, knocked you down. She's awesome! I think you two will be great friends." I gulped. So he wasn't talking about me. And I gave him advice to kiss her! Why was I sooooo stupid? "I gotta go." I said abruptedly. I ran as fast as I could to the elevator. "Wait!" Nick called. He ran after me. I tried to shut the elevator door, but Nick got inside right before the doors slid shut. "Are you okay?" he asked. "I'm fine...I just don't feel good. I think I might take a nap before dinner." "Okay, then. Hope you feel better. See you at seven." Nick said, getting off at his floor. "Later." I said. I was so worried. What was I going to do?
Chapter 7
7:00 P.M.
Cassie was pacing back and forth in front of the door. "Relax, Cassie, they'll be here." I said assuringly. But I could tell that she was nervous. After I had told her about Jennette, she had automaticly jumped to the conclusion that Joe had a girlfriend, too. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Cassie opened it quickly. "Hey, guys!" Joe said. "You girls ready?" Kevin asked. "We've been ready for an hour." Cassie said. "Let's go!" Kevin said. "Uhhh...where's Nick?" I asked. Joe's face darkened. "He's going to get this 'friend' he's bringing along. He'll meet us in the limo." We went downstairs and got into the limo without any JB fans sighting us. I saw Nick come out the front door just as I had sat down. Following him was the sorriest sight I had ever seen. The girl behind him had plastic-looking blond hair. She was wearing a hot pink, strapless, rienstoned, and sparked shirt. Then she wore a hot pink tutu that was splatered with purple paint and was wayyyyy too short. My mouth hung open. So did everyone else's. Nick opened the limo door, attemping to get in the limo before and crazy fans could spot us. He failed. A little girl, about 7 years old ran up to the limo. "Wait!" she cried. "Can I have your autograph?" she asked timidly. Before Nick could reply, Jennette said in an extremely annoying voice, "Nick's busy right now. He can't be signing autographs all day. So, if you could be so kind, SCAT!" The little girl bursted into tears. I reached into my purse and pulled out a sheet of paper from my journal. (I always keep it with me) I handed it to Joe, then Kevin. I stepped out of the limo and shoved the paper into Nick's hands. He signed it, not saying a word. He knew how angry I was at Jennette, and he also knew how mad I was at him for bringing her. I looked around for the little girl. I saw her, sitting on the edge of a park bench about 30 feet away. I stepped forward and tripped on something pink. I looked up to see Jennette standing there innocently. "Opps." she said simply. "Molly-" Nick started. I brushed past him. I jogged over to the little girl. "Are you alright? I'm so sorry. That girl shouldn't have acted that way." I said. "It's okay." the girl sniffed. "Nick wanted you to have this." I said, handing her the piece of paper. Her face lit up. "I'm Mary. I loooove the Jonas Brothers. Nick's my favorite. Their music is awesome." I smiled. I was glad she was feeling better. "Why was your friend being so mean?" she asked. "Shes not my friend. Trust me." I said. "Then who is she?" Mary asked. "Nick's girlfriend." I had trouble saying the word girlfriend. "Well she's mean. I wish Nick would have a girlfriend like you. You're nice." Mary said. "Me, too." I said under my breath. "Which one's you favorite Jonas?" Mary asked innocently. I took it under consideration. "Nick." I said quietly. "Do you love him?' Mary asked, suddenly becoming serious. "I-I do. But don't tell. I'll see you later, okay? I gotta go." I said abbruptedly. I waved and ran back to the limo. "Don't worry! You're secret safe with me!" Mary yelled at the top of her lungs. I grinned and got back in the limo. "What secret?" Nick asked. "Oh, nothing." I said, consealing a smile.
We got to the restarant, a local country club. There was a fancy golf corse and everything. On the courtyard, there was a formal dance. "After we eat, we can hit the dance floor." Nick suggested. Jennette winked at Nick. Cassie rolled her eyes. The food was amazing. I tried a lot of new foods. While I was pigging out, (not really) Jennette wasn't eating anything. "Aren't you going to try this food? It's amazing!" Nick said. "Yeah, and it's loaded with carbs. No, thanks." Jennette said snottily. Joe quickly said, "Uhh, now that we're done, let's dance!" There were a few hip, upbeat songs, but most of the tracks were slow dances. During the slow songs, Jennette was wrapped around Nick, and he didn't seem to be enjoying himself. Joe and Cassie danced for a few songs, and I seemed to be the only one who wasn't dancing. I decided to make the most of the night. I walked up to Jennette and Nick and tapped him on the shoulder. "Can I borrow Nick for one song?" I asked Jennette. Before she could reply, Nick was de-tangled from Jennette's arms. A slow song came on. I gulped. "Care to have this dance?" Nick asked sweetly. "Sure." I said. We started dancing. "Thanks for rescuing me." Nick said. "I wasn't rescuing you." I said coldly, remembering how angry I was at him for bringing...it. "Then why did you ask me to dance?" Nick asked, amused. Because I love you and can't stand to see you dancing with Jennette! I thought. "Okay, I was rescuing you. You didn't seem to be having much fun." I said. "Owwww!" Nick cried. "Sorry." I said. I must have stepped on his foot. Hard. "I'm a bad dancer." I explained. "Just follow my lead." Nick said, explaining the steps. "Okay..." It turned out that I wasn't as horrible as I'd thought. "Has anyone ever told you you have really beautiful eyes?" Nick asked. "I-I...thanks. You have nice eyes, too..." I said. To tell the truth, I hadn't really ever payed close attention to his eyes. I looked into his eyes, and within 5 seconds, I was lost inside them. It seemed like we were the only two people in the entire universe. It was perfect. "Listen, I have to tell you that-" Nick started. Suddenly, the song ended. Jennette appeared. "I want my date back." she said coldly. "Just one more song." Nick pleaded. "No, she's right. You're her date, after all." I said cooly. She smirked at me, then grabbed Nick's arm. "Come on. Let's dance." I went back to the tables at the edge of the dance floor. "Hey, Kevin." I said, sitting down. "Hey." Poor Kevin looked lonley. "You wanna dance?" "Sure." Kevin said, smiling. We danced for a while. I felt myself looking over my shoulder, trying to see what Nick and Jennette were doing. Nick had the same idea. I met his gaze once and I quickly looked away. "Is everything okay?" Kevin asked. "Yes, I-" I started. I saw Jennette leaning in to kiss Nick. I tried not to watch, but I couldn't help it. Their lips gently touched. It seemed like the world was spinning in slow motion. They stood there for what seemed like eternity. If only that were me. I couldn't take my eyes off Nick and Jennette. "Are you okay? You look like you're going to be sick." "I'm...I'm fine." I said, my voice shaking. (A.N. Can voices shake?) The song ended (finally) and I told Kevin that I didn't feel good and that I was going to go to sit down. Kevin found a girl to dance with and I sat down at the table. I was misrable. I sat there for the rest of the night, wrapped up in my thoughts. It was time to leave and I couldn't be happier. During the limo ride, Cassie and I were having a mental conversation. (A.N. This wouldn't actually happen, but I thought it would be funny to put it in the story. TS (thought speak/spoke) is like a mental text message. It's kinda complicated. It's kinda like you know someone soooo well, you can read their mind. It's a BFF thing. Does that make sense? Probably not. Now keep reading.)
Disaster. That was a disaster. I TS. (thought spoke)
Sorry about the whole Jennette thing. Cassie TS back.
Uggg my life is over.
No it isn't. You just have to get Nick back.
And how do you suggest I do that?
Ummmmm... you could call Jennette, convincing her that she's won a $1,000,000 dollar shopping spree in Paris. She leaves, you steal Nick, and then everyone's happy.
I can't believe that's the best thing you can come up with.
Fine, then you think of a better plan.
I will. Grrrrr.
Chapter 8
The second the limo pulled up to the hotel, I opened the door and ran outside. I couldn't stand seeing Nick and Jennette together for one more second. I got to the elevator, pushed the button and waited impatiently. "What's the rush?" Nick asked. My mind raced for an excuse. "There's a new episode of Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream that's going to be on tonight and I don't want to miss it." I said before I remembered who I was talking to. "Righttttt." Nick said, rolling his eyes. "It was on at like 7:55. It's 9:22." "How do you know when the new episodes are on?" I asked. "I watch them...occasionally." Nick said. "Sure. Whatever you say." I replied sarcasticly. "So are you and Cassie coming to the mall with us tomorrow?" Nick asked. "Uhhh, no, since when were you guys planning to go to the mall?" "Uhhh, we were talking about it in the limo-" "Oh, yeahhhh, that mall. I thought you were talking about a...ummm...different mall..." I said hopelessly. Nick looked at me strangely. "We'll be there." I said simply.
The Next Day (Saturday)
Cassie and I were playing video games in our hotel room while our moms were our sightseeing. My phone rang. "It's Nick." Cassie informed me. "Talk to me." I said, picking up my phone. "Molly?" "Duh." "What's with the whole 'talk to me' thing?" "I don't know. I'm just being random today." (silence) "Are you still there?" "Yeah. Listen, me and the guys were wondering if you girls wanted to grab a bite to eat with us before we go to the mall. Is that okay with you?" "It depends what we're eating." "We can put it to a vote when we're all down in the Lobby. See ya in a few." "Bye." I hung up. "Cassie, you wanna go eat before the mall?" "Are you kidding? I'm starving!" We headed down to the Lobby. I saw the guys. "Hey guys and...you" I saw Jennette. "Okay, so where are we going to eat?" Cassie asked. "Let's vote." Nick suggested. "That's boring." Joe said. "Get over it. I vote McDonald's. What about you, Jennette?" "McDonald's? Are you crazy? I don't eat at McDonald's. Never have. Never will." "You've never been to McDonald's?" Nick and I exclaimed in unison. "But that means..." Nick started. "You've never had a Big Mac?" I finished. "Ewww. Of course not. Now, I vote we go to Starbuck's." I stared at her. "So, for lunch we'll all have...coffee and lattees." I said sarcasticlly. "I vote McDonald's." I said indignantly. "Me, too." Joe said. "Me three." Cassie said, agreeing with anything Joe said. "Okay, then it's settled. McDonald's it is." Kevin said. "Let's go!" I said. "But I don't eat at McDonald's!" Jennette whined. "Get over it." Nick mumbled under his breath. I grinned, hearing his comment. This was going to be fun.
The limo ride from McDonald's to the mall seemed endless. Jennette kept complaining about being hungry (she didn't eat a bite of her salad), Joe and Cassie were trying to lighten the mood (and it wasn't working), and I was sitting there, my head resting on the window, wishing I was anywhere but there. Jennette was arguing with Joe about something stupid and Cassie was trying to back Joe up. I groaned. I looked outside the window, extremely board. "So what's up?" Nick said from behind me. "Oh, not much, it's just the WORST DAY OF MY LIFE!" I said loudly. "Is this about Jennette?" Nick asked, sounding surprised and sarcastic at the same time. "Maybe." I said grumpily. "What, are you jealous?" Nick said, amused. "That's kinda pushing it, Jonas." "So you are jealous!" "Yeah, I'm totally jealous of Jennette. The queen of pink." "I heard that." "You were supposed to." Jennette went back to her aguement with Joe. Nick opened his mouth to speak, but was interupped by Kevin, who yelled, "We're here!" I think he was getting sick of Jennette, too. I jumped out of the car as fast as I could. I had to avoid Nick. He knew I was jealous. When we got into the mall, Jennette immediatly squealed, "Let's go to Hollister!" Typical. "I'm...I'm sure Molly will go with you." Nick said, begging me to go with Jennette. "I would rather by eaten alive by ants." "Oh, well. You're coming with me. I need someone to tell me how pretty I look." Jennette grabbed my arm and dragged me off. This was officially the worst day of my life.
Chapter 9
After about a gazillion hours in Hollister, Jennette finally agreed to go to a different store. We passed Hott Topic. "Let's go in, I need a Twilight shirt." "Okay! I love the Twilight series!" Jennette said. I gasped. "You read Twilight?" "Of course! I just think it's sooooo romantic how Bertha and Edwin fall in love-" "Edwin and Bertha? Don't you mean Balla and Edward?" "That's what I said." "Righttt." We went into the store and I immediatly grabbed a TEAM JACOB shirt. "Who's Jacob?" Jennette asked. I sighed deeply and went back to the tee-shirts. I ended up getting the Jacob shirt, red skinny jeans, and a pair of Converse. "Why do you wear Converse? They're soooo uncomfortable." Jennette said. I looked down to see her wearing the highest high heels I've ever seen in my life. "Nick likes Converse." "Yeah, I know, they're sooo comfortable." Jennette said. We met the guys for lunch. I ordered pizza. I was starving, so I immediatly started eating. I noticed Jennette was staring at me. "What?" I asked. "Your...eating." "What's wrong with eating?" Nick said defensivly. "I don't know...it's just...weird." We all cracked up, laughing our guts out. (That was random. Can you laugh your guts out?) Joe was laughing so hard, soda came out his nose. Jennette elbowed Nick in the ribs. "Uhh...sorry." "You better be." Jennette said, trying to be tough. Nick rolled his eyes. I grinned. He smiled back. Maybe this day wouldn't be so bad after all.
"I'm gonna go to the bathroom." Nick said after we all had finished lunch.
"M'kay." (Me)
"Sure." (Cassie)
"Whatever." (Jennette)
"Have fun." (Joe)
"Bye." (Kevin)
He looked at us strangely. Once he was gone, Joe went into action. "Okay, guys we all know that tomorrow is Nick's birthday. We're going to split up and look for a present. Cassie, you'll look with Jennette. I'll look with Kevin, and Molly, you'll look with Nick. But not for a birthday present, 'cause he doesn't know about this. Just distract him. Keep him busy until I call you. So are we all clear on the plan?"
"Yup." (Me)
"Pretty much." (Cassie)
"Whatever." (Jennette)
"Yeah." (Kevin)
"Okay, then. Operation: Get_Nick_A_Birthday_Present_Without_Him_Finding_Out is a go."
I was sitting, waiting for Nick to come back. "Where's everybody else?" "Ummm...they ditched you." I said, hoping my lame excuse worked. "And you didn't?" "I thought it would be mean." "Righttttttt. What are you hiding?" Dang, he's good. I thought. I looked up innocently. "Nothing." "Sure." "Are we going to shop or what?" I asked trying to change the subject. We walked around, looking in different stores. I hadn't seen anyone else. So far, so good. After an hour, I called Joe. "Hello?" "How's the present search going?" "Not good. Kevin and I haven't found anything. Neither has Cassie." "Oh, come on Joe, how hard can it be?" "Okay then, what do you suggest?" "Just get him a puppy or something." I heard Nick calling my name. "Gotta go...bye!" I hung up and hid the phone behind my back. "Hey, Nick, what's happenin'?" I said. "Ummm..." "Nevermind. Let's go in here." I said, pointing to a shoe store. "Okay." We went in. Wow, I can't believe we haven't bumped into anyone else. If that happened that would be a disaster- I gulped. I had spoken too soon.
Chapter 10
Cassie's POV
I was with Jennette looking for Converse in a shoe store. Or at least, I was looking for Converse. Jennette could care less about Nick's present. I heard a buzzing noise (You know like when you go into stores and they have little buzzers that go off when people come in the store? Yeah. Like that.) and stood up to see if it was Joe. He was supposed to meet us here. He had the 'perfect idea' for Nick's birthday present. I looked around and saw Molly and Nick. Molly and Nick???? Molly looked at me. She had a look on her face that said "HIDE!!!!!" I ducked. I crawled on my knees throught the aisles, making my way to the door. I had just gotten out when I saw Jennette in the high heels section. I gasped. Nick and Molly were heading towards the Converse section...which was right naxt to the high heels! Molly obviously didn't see Jennette. It was up to me. I crawled as fast as I could, trying not to be seen. I grabbed Jennette and pulled her onto the floor. "Ewwww, it's dirty down here." "Shhh! Nick's here and we can't let him see-" "Ooohhh, Nick's here! Oh, Nicky-poo!" Nick whirled around. "Did you hear that? It sounded just like Jennette..." "No, ummm I didn't. You're probably just imagining it, 'cause you miss her so much." Molly said. "Yeah, about Jennette, I...I think I might break up with her." Jennette shot up. "Nicholas J-" Jennette started. I grabbed her and pulled her back down. "Did you hear that? 'Cause it realy sounds like Jennette." "It's all in your head. Oooh, that's a cute pair of Converse... and they're on sale!" Molly pulled Nick over to the Converse aisle. I pulled Jennette out of the store. We saw Joe and Kevin walking towards us. I raced towards them. "What happened to you?" Kevin asked. I looked down. My knees were all red from crawling, and I was sweating all over. "We almost got caught." "Well, on the bright side, I found the perfect gift for Nick." Joe started off towards the store. "Where are you going?" I asked. "To the pet store." he answered.
(By the way this chapter isn't in Cassie POV just FYI)
I tryed to call Joe, hoping Cassie was with him. "Hello?" "Joe! Ohmygosh Cassie almost got caught-" "Sike! Leave a message." "Uggggg." I groaned. "Everything okay?" Nick asked. "Yeah. Everything's fine." I lied. "I'm gonna go look in here-" "Okay. Sure. I'll just wait out here." Why won't Joe answer his phone? Is something wrong? Then I had another thought. What if he thought I was serious about the whole "Get him a dog." thing? Oh no. This isn't going to be pretty. But I had other things to worry about. Nick said he was going to dump Jennette...for me? What if he doesn't even like me? He doesn't. But then again...wait, who am I kidding? This is Nick Jonas we're talking about! He'd never fall for someone so...like me. My phone rang. I jumped. I was so wrapped up in my thoughts I hadn't heard it the first time. I answered it. "Hello?" "Meet us in the parking lot. We got the gift." "Joe you didn't get him a pup-" Click. He hung up. I went in the store and got Nick. "Let's go." I said. When we got into the parking lot, I looked around for Joe. "JOE!" I yelled when I saw him. He was holding a huge bag...which contained a huge kennal. "Joe, you didn't." "I did." "Joe I was just kidding! Now Nick's gonna-" "Molly? Joe? Where are you?" Nick called. "Over here!" I called meekly. "Do something with...ummm..." "Elvis." "Elvis?" "Well, Nick likes Elvis Costello, so we named him-" "Named who what?" "No one, nothing." I said quickly. "Whatcha got there Joe?" "Nothing...just some...ya know...clothes." I sighed. At this rate, Nick birthday present would never stay a secret. The bag russled. Joe looked at me. "Ya know, Nick, I think Jennette wanted to talk to you." "You bet I do!" Jennette yelled, stepping out of the limo. "I can't believe you were going to break up with me! You jerk!" "Who said I was-" Nick stopped, turning to me. I saw where this was going. "No! I wouldn't...ever...Nick you've gotta listen to me-" "You told her, didn't you?" Nick said, appauled. Apparantly, Jennette saw where this was going, too. "That's it. That's exactly what happened." Jennette said. "Jennette! No, that's not what happened..." Jennette got a sly look on her face. "Oh! And I know exactly why she did it, too. She's jealous of me. She's got a little crush on Nick, and she figured she's have a better shot with you if I were out of the way." My mouth hung open. Nick looked shocked. "Is...is that true, Molly?" Nick asked, taking a step forward. "Of course it is. She's been in love with you since the moment she met you." Jennette answered for me. "Jennette." said Cassie. "She's so helpless in love, she can't think straight. She's been plotting against me ever since we met." Jennette finished with a smirk. "I can't believe you would do something like that!" Nick yelled. I shrunk back. I was afraid. Tears were pouring down my cheeks. "I can't believe you would believe her over me!" "I'd definatly believe my girlfriend over some... some fan." Nick said harshly. Everyone gasped. I felt like he had slapped me. I stood there, dumbfounded. Nick realized what he had said. "Molly, I-" he started. The was a rustling noise from the bag. Joe hadn't been paying attention to Elvis and...BAM! A small, furry puppy jumped out of the bag and into Nick's arms. Nick looked even more shocked. "It was Molly's idea-" Joe started, trying to help the situation. Nick's jaw dropped. He looked at me. A single tear slid down my cheek. Trying to find my voice, I whispered so only he could hear.
"Happy Birthday, Nick."
Chapter 11
After that, I ran. I quickly hailed a taxi. I ordered the driver to the hotel. When I got there, I ran up to my room, wrote my mom a note explaining what happened, and started packing. I got another taxi to go to the airport. I was nervous but I knew I was doing the right thing. I bought a ticket back to Oklahoma. I got on the plane. My mind was racing. My head told me to leave, but my heart said stay. I knew leaving Nick behind was the smart, responsible thing to do. But what if I don't want to be smart and responsible? What if I just want to be happy- happy with Nick? But remember his little creepy girlfriend and how she treated you? You can't go back, not now. But Nick, oh Nick, Nick... NO. You can't be stupid...just for a guy. But he's not just a guy, he's Nick Jonas... When I got here in L.A., I thought I loved Nick Jonas- as a rockstar...but now I know that I love Nick, the person. But Jennette...he thinks I told...he wouldn't listen...do I really love a man that won't listen to what I have to say? I asked myself. Yes, you do... A voice in the back of my head said timidly. I felt like I was going to be sick. The plane had taken off and I hadn't even noticed. I looked out the window and whispered quietly, "Goodbye, L.A."
6 Months later
I was okay. For moment, anyway. I was okay. I felt healed, like everything was better, no, like I had never been hurt in the first place. I honestly did not know how muck longer I would feel 'okay.' The guys were back from their tour. And they were coming. To see me and Cassie. well, technically they were already seeing Cassie, because she had agreed to they're suggestion of us going on tour with them. Yes, I said it. Us. I, too, was asked to go on tour with the boys. Well, I don't actually know that, because I haven't listened to any of Nick's messages he left for me or read any of the texts he sent me. I'm assuming that one of them had asked if I wanted to go on tour. I was supernervous about seeing Nick again, but I knew I could handle it. I was laying on my bed, staring at the balnk walls. (I had ripped down all my Jonas posters and passed my CDs on to my sis.) She, of course, didn't care if one of them had broken my heart. She still loved them. She paraded around the house, wearing a white dress, saying,"I'm gonna marry Joe Jonas." I just rolled my eyes. Celebrity boys, I thought, they'll only break your heart.
Chapter 12
After that came the dreams. Dreams about Nick. He hugged me, kissed me, told me I was beautiful, and said that he loved me.
Yeah.
I tryed to stay awake that night, honestly I did, but I fell asleep. In my dreams, I heard his voice...
"Oh my gosh, are you okay?"
"So have you fallen again since I saw you last?"
"Has anyone ever told you that you have really beautiful eyes?"
"I'd definatly believe my girlfriend over some....some fan."
"Ding Dong. Dinggggggg Donggggggggg."
I sat up, rubbing my eyes. Ding Dong. Dinggggggg Donggggggg. I was now fully awake. I got up and opened it. It was Nick. I opened my mouth to immediatly apoligize. He grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him. Before and before I knew it, his lips were on mine. I melted. After a moment, we both pulled away. I laid my head on his shoulder. He whispered in my ear,"I love you." I looked up at him, forgetting the past. "Since when? I thought Jennette-" "Jennette's...gone. I broke up with her. A long time ago." "When?" "The day she told me that you liked me." "Oh." "On tour, I realized that I can't live without you. For I while, I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't think straight. I...I need you. I love you."
I didn't know how to react. It was unreal. I wanted to pinch myself, just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I hoped with all of my heart that it wasn't a dream. And even if it was a dream, I was now, completely, 100% sure that I loved him back.
Chapter 13
2 Days Earlier
Cassie's POV
This was it. The boys' last show. It was going to be special. Because after the concert, I was going to tell Joe how I felt about him. I was feeling good. I was being positive, despite the fact that later today I would be telling the man that I love how I feel. "Hi, Kevin," I said that morning,"do you want anything for breakfast? I can make pancakes, or...or waffles...you know, how about a Pop-Tart? Everyone loves Pop-Tarts." Kevin looked at me like I had three heads. "Here." I grumbled, tossing him a pack of Pop-Tarts. Joe walked in. "Good morning, Joe! What do you want for breakfast? I think I'm gonna make pancakes, but if you want anything else, I can make anything..." He ignored me. "Hmmmm...definatly Pop-Tarts." he said, seeming to be talking to himself. He left the kitchen. I sat down across from Kevin. He leaned across the table. "Okay, I know you love him, but could you lay off the lovey-dovey stuff? It's starting to creep me out." My mouth hung open. He raised his eyebrows. "Is it that obvi-" I started. Joe walked by the kitchen door. "That's crazy talk! Good one, Kevin." I said punching him lightly on the shoulder. Once I was sure Joe was gone, I turned back to Kevin. "Is it that obvious?" "Yeah." "Oh, Kevin, I'm sorry, it's just I'm planning to tell him- tonight." "Tonight? I don't think that's gonna work out..." "Why?" "Well, you know...Joe invited Taylor to tonight's concert..." "Wait-hang on a sec...Taylor? As in Taylor Swift?" "Yeah..." "OMG she's like my favorite country singer!" "Not anymore." Kevin murmed under his breath. "What?" "Well, ya see, Joe's kinda...into her..." My face fell. A tear dropped. I turned my face, not wanting Kevin to see me cry. "Here, I'll take your plate, your done, right?" I didn't wait for him to answer. I whisked the plate away. Joe walked into the kitchen. "Morning, Cassie." he said as I passed him with an armful of dishes. I didn't answer. Tears poured. I dumped the plates in the sink and wiped my eyes. "morning, Cassie." Mrs. Jonas said as she entered the kitchen. "Morning." I squeaked as I started washing the dishes. "Cassie, you don't have to do that, I'll take care of it later." Mrs. Jonas offered. "No, it's okay, I have nothing better to do...really, it's no big deal." "Alright, dear. Thank you for your help." "Your welcome." I whimpered, drying my tears with a dish towel.
I knew I had to act. Fast. If I told him before the concert, he could have time to disinvite Taylor. It was time to make my move. The only thing I could do now was pray that it would work.
"Hey, Joe, can I talk to you for a sec?"
"Ummmm...okay, sure."
I led him into one of the backstage rooms. I sat down, picked up my guitar, gulped, said a silent prayer, and started singing.
"Romeo, take me
somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting,
All there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and
I'll be the princess,
It's a love story baby just say
yes."
I looked up. His face was blank. I knew that all hope was lost. "Cassie, I don't-" "I know. I get it." A single tear slid down my cheek. Joe walked to the doorway and whispered, "I'm sorry."
Chapter 14
I was excited to see Cassie and tell her the awesome news. Nick had asked me to his girlfriend. Of course, I said yes. Cassie would be superexcited. Now all that I had to do was get her and Joe together. The doorbell rang. I jumped up from the couch and opened it. "Cassie! Wassup?" "Oh, ya know, the usual." "Where's everybody else?" "Oh, the guys are signing autographs for some of your neighbors on your driveway." In a few minutes, the guys came in. "Hey, Kevin. What's happening?" "Not much." "Hi, Nick." I said, greeting him with a kiss on the cheek. "Joe! Good to see ya, buddy." "Good to see you, too! I think today is the best day of my life." Wow. "So, Joe, why is today the best day of your life?" "Because I have an awesome new girlfriend who rocks." "Oh, I see." I said. Cassie must have already made her move. I was so proud of her. We all talked and ate for hours. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Everyone except Cassie.
Cassie spent the night at my house. "So...I hear Joe's got a new girlfriend." "I can't believe you would bring that up!" Cassie cried angrily. I was suprised. Then I understood. "Aww, did someone have their first fight with their new boyfriend? It's okay, Cassie, it happens, I'm sure you and Joe will kiss and make up tomorrow." Cassie blinked. "Wait, you don't know? I thought you were just trying to be mean." I was confused. "Joe wasn't talking about me...he was talking about...Taylor Swift." "OMG! The Taylor Swift? I love her music!" "Yeah. Everybody does." "Awww, Cassie, I'm sorry." "It was a disaster. I sang him the song, Love Story-" "But that's a Taylor Swift song." "I know. Anyway, I sand it for him and then he basically told me that he wasn't interested- at all." "I'm sorry. But maybe he'll break up with her, like Nick and Jennette." "But this is different. He loves her. When he looks at her...you can see it in his eyes...he loves her. He'll never look at me that way." Cassie started to cry. "Forget him. If he's that rude as to tell you he doesn't like you to your face- well, I think that's just inconsidarate. Find someone else." "That's it!" Cassie cried. "What?" "You'll see...tomorrow."
Chapter 15
Cassie's POV
I was nervous. I tapped my foot impatiently. I was standing on the porch of my ex-crush, Jake Burger. (A.N. Yes, this guy is a real person, but he doesn't live in Oklahoma, he lives in Arkansas. My and Cassie call him Burger Boy. Yeah.) Burger Boy Jake answered the door. "Cassie, hi, I haven't seen you in forever! How have you been?" "Oh, good, I guess." "Here why don't you come in." "Thanks, Jake." I said, batting my eyelashes. I sat down on the couch. "So, ummm...why are you here?" Jake asked, trying to be polite. "You know, I haven't seen you in forever, and I wanted to ummmmm...(gulp) tell you something." "Really what?" "I...I...I love you, Joe." "Joe?" "Jake! I meant Jake..." I looked up, and he seemed to be buying it. "Soooo...what if I told you I loved you back?" Jake asked, blushing. I gulped. "Ummmmm...well I-" He cut me off with a kiss. I wanted to gag. He isn't a very good kisser. I thought. I wonder if Joe's a kisser? Wait what am I saying? He'd never kiss me, he's to busy kissing Taylor... "Uhhhh Cassie are you okay?" Jake asked. I my lips were still puckered. "Yeah...I'm fine...just streching my lips, that's all..." He looked at me strangely. "Ummmmm...do you want to hang out this afternoon? I have some friends that want to meet you...well, one friend in particular...but yeah what do you say?" "Sure. I'd love to meet your friends." I grinned. Everything was going according to plan.
Afternoon
I was in my backyard, waiting for Cassie to show up. She was supposed to be here an hour ago. Where the heck was she? The boys would be here any minute, and there was alot to be done. "Were HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Joe yelled, bursting through the fence door. "Hello, Joe. The burgers will be done in a sec." The others followed behind Joe through the door. "Hey Nick, Kevin, and Taylor." Taylor??????? "Yeah, about that..." Joe said sheepishly. "It's fine, it's fine..." I said. This wasn't going to be pretty. Cassie is gonna freak out when she finds out Taylor's here. I thought. The fence door opened again. Cassie walked in. But the only reason I reconized her was because she was wearing her favorite summer dress. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known who it was. Cassie was wearing makeup...and lots of it. Joe's eyes widened. Taylor elbowed him. "Uhhhh...sorry, Tay, do you want a burger?" "Yes. And it better not be burnt." Joe glanced over his shoulder. Cassie was standing there with Burger Boy. Joe looked jealous. This was going to be an interesting afternoon.
Cassie's POV
When we were done eating, the guys got out a frisbee and started tossing it around. I didn't want to get dirty, so I didn't play. Neither did Taylor. "Hey, Lassie, can I talk to you?" "It's Cassie." "Like I care. Listen, I'm not exactly stupid. I know you like Joe. And I'm just gonna tell you that he isn't a bit interested. Nice makeup. If you think just because you smear makeup all over your face you'll get a better shot with Joe, you're wrong. I'm watching you. I'll be at Joe's side every second, just in case you try to pull something. And for the record, Joe's not going to date a 9 year old." "I'm 18!" I yelled as Taylor walked away. I stuck out my tounge. There was no hope left. I knew I would never get a shot with Joe. Why did I even bother?
Chapter 16
It was time to leave. Cassie was going to spend the night at my house again. She said bye to Burger Boy and kissed him. It was a very looooong kiss. Whatever Cassie was doing, it seemed to work. Joe looked more and more jealous each second. When Taylor and Burger Boy left, the guys said they had some big news for us. They were going on tour again for six months. But me and Cassie couldn't go with them because we had school. Ugggg.
They promised the would send us tickets to the Oklahoma concert. I knew this was going to be hard, being away from all my friends for such a long time. But I knew it would work out. It was going to...right?
Wow, three month pass by fast. Cassie and I were at the airport, saying goodbye. "Bye Kevin." I said, hugging Kevin. "Bye Joe." I said, hugging him. "Bye Nick." I said. I kissed him softly and hugged him. "Have fun, okay? I'll be here when you come back." I hugged him one more time, just as the speakers said, "Flight 29 to New York is boarding, I repeat, passengers of Flight 29, please board the plane. Thank you." "Bye." everyone said. We watched as the boys, Frankie, and Mr. and Mrs. Jonas boarded the plane. I blew Nick a kiss. I was so sad. I wouldn't see him for another 2 months.
2 months later
The Oklahoma JB concert
"Wow, this place is awesome." I said, looking at the stage. Cassie and I got to leave school early to see the stage get set up. It was pretty awesome. We watched as the boys rehearsed their songs. They were ah-mazing! Cassie seemed misrable the whole time. She refused to talk to Joe. Actually, she hadn't talked to him since the last concert of their last tour. I felt bad for Joe, because I knew he felt bad. I went backstage and got on my laptop. I was surfing the web when I saw an article that caught my eye on www.Popstar.com. The title was: Is It Over For Jaylor? I gasped, reading on...
Rumors are flying around the Internet that Joe Jonas has
called it quits with Southern beauty Taylor Swift. The couple
never official went on the record about their relationship however
Taylor became a fixture in the Jonas clan and was even spotted in
one of their YouTube videos...
We are sorry to hear that the couple split but this means that Joe
Jonas is single and on the market again. Better start primping ladies!
(A.N. BTW I actually found this on www.Popstar.com ... I didn't write it or anything...)
I gasped. I saw Cassie walking down the hallway. I pulled her into the room. "Look...at...this." I said, pointing to the screen. "Oh my god." she said. "You don't think it's true, do you?" I asked. "Well, we haven't seen a lot of Taylor lately, so maybe..." We both looked at each other and screamed. We started dancing in circles. "This means one thing: he dumped her for you." "Come on, he won't even talk to me." "He will if you talk to him first." "Good point."
Chapter 17
The next day (after the concert)
"OMG! Joe just asked me out, Molly!" Cassie yelled. I held my phone about a foot away from my ear. I waited for her to stop screaming. "I'm really excited for you, but we kinda missed an important detail..." "What detail?" "You dad. He'll never let you date Joe. You know how strict he is." (A.N. Her parents are nice, but they are superstrict.) "I'll...I'll talk to him..." Cassie said nervously. This was going to be a problem.
Cassie's POV
I gulped and opened the door of my dad's study. "Hiya, dad...can I talk to you?" "Yes, but make it quick, I have things to do." "Well, the other day, this guy asked me out..." "What boy?" "Ya know...a boy..." "WHAT BOY?" "Joe Jonas." I said meekly. "Oh, no. I will not stand for this. You're telling me that boy asked you out on a date and you said yes?" "Maybe, kinda." "Well, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to tell Joe what-ever-his-name-is that you've changed your mind. I will not have you date a rockstar." "But daddy!" "No buts-this is my house, my rules. I want you to call him this instant and tell him no." I ran out of the study. I sat down on my bed and pulled out my phone. With shaking hands, I dialed Joe's number. "Hey, girlfriend, watssup?" "Joe, I need to talk to you-" "Guess what? Next month were're playing a show in Texas, so maybe you and Molly could drive down to see us. I really miss you, Cass." I took a breath. "Joe I just wanted to say...I'm...I'M NOT INTERESTED!" I cried, ending the call. I threw my phone across the room, buried my head in my pillow, and started crying.
(Not Cassie's POV anymore)
1 month later
"Molly, this weekend we're driving up to see you cousins in Rockport. Start packing, please." "WHAT??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????" I yelled. My cousins in Texas are really mean. The last time we saw each other was when I was 7 years old. My cousin Chloe ripped the head off my favorite Barbie doll! (A.N. True story!) "Mom, I can't, remember the Barbie doll? What if I'm next?" "Oh, honey, you're overreacting...but to make the trip more fun...I got you these." she said, pulling out four JB tickets for the Texas concerts. "Wow, mom, thanks, but there's four tickets we only need two for Cassie and me..." My voice traveled off. I knew where this was going. "Of course you'll be going with Chloe and Ginger." "No. I won't do it." "But I also got..." she said, reaching into her back pocket,"backstage passes. You can see the boys!" I wasn't that dumb. "They sent you those tickets, didn't they?" I asked. "It's impossible to get backstage passes, the guys must have given them to you. Am I right?" My mom's face turned red. "It doesn't matter where they came from, what matters is that you'll spend some quality time with your cousins and you'll be able to see your boyfriend." It was hard to argue with the boyfriend part. "Alright, I'll do it, but Cassie's coming with me, kapiesh?" "Kapiesh." (A.N. Is that spelled right?) my mom said, smiling. "I hope you realize how dangerous this is. I might never come back. Chloe will probably rip off my head like that Barbie doll." "Let it go, will you?" "Fine. But don't say I didn't warn you." My mom rolled her eyes, saying, "Better start packing."
"LIVE
TO
PARTAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!"
Cassie and I sang the last line of Live to Party loudly. We were singing along to all of our fav JB songs. We had the windows and the sun roof rolled down. We were headed to Rock Port, Texas. We had told the guys were our cousins lived so that they could meet each other. (It was my mom's idea.) The weekend might not be fun, but at least Cassie, Nick, Joe, and Kevin would be there. I was really nervous. 1. I was meeting my evil cousins for only the second time in my life. 2. Cassie and I were going to have dinner with the Jonas family...tonight! I wanted to make a good impression. We finally arrived at my cousin's house. I knocked on the door nervously. Here goes everything. I thought.
The door opened. "Molly, hi!" Chloe cried, pulling me into a bear hug. "Hi, Chloe, hi." I said. After Chloe realeased me, Cassie had to blurt out, "I thought you said they were evil." I elbowed her. Hard. "What?" Chloe asked, cocking her blond head to the side. "Inside joke. It's nothing." I said hastily. We walked inside. The house was pretty impressive. Chloe's mom, Trudy, came in. "Molly, hi, Chloe's so excited to see you. She's also excited to meet your friends- the Jonas Brothers, right?" So they knew. That explained the hugging. "Yeah, you won't see them 'til tomorrow." I said. I watched Chloe's face turn from her obnoxious, plastic grin to a dark, gothic frown. "Chloe, show the girl to their room." "Fine." said Chloe, stomping up the stairs. "It's nice to see you, Aunt Trudy." I said, trying to be nice. "Nice to meet you." said Cassie, trailing behind me. "Chloe, wait, come back and help these girls with their bags." Aunt Trudy called up the stairs. "Whatever." Chloe said, slinging my duffel bag over her shoulder and grabbing Cassie's backpack roughly. We walked up the stairs. In front of us was the longest hallway I had ever seen. "Yowza." Cassie said, dropping her duffel bag. "Pick a room, and quick before I make you carry your own stuff." Chloe said. We picked the closest room. Chloe tossed our belonging into the room carelessly. "Have fun." she muttered.
Cassie and I were unpacking our stuff when Ginger's head popped through the door. "Hey, guys, welcome to Rock-" "They're not here yet." I sighed. "Oh. Whatever, then." Ginger said snottily. I groaned. "We better get ready for tonight." Cassie said, glancing at the clock. It was 5:45. Dinner was at 7:00. We quickly showered, got dressed, did makeup, did hair, and find the perfect acessories. I jumped onto the bed. "What time is it now?" "6:00." "You're kidding." "I wish I was." So we decided to watch TV. I flipped it to Disney Channel. Camp Rock was on, so we watched it, cracking up at anything the guys said. It was 6:30, so we went outside and got in the car. I gulped. I hoped we would make a good impresion. "Here goes nothing."
Chapter 18
We all met at Cracker Barrel. (A.N. I read in an article that CB is Joe's fav place to eat when they visit their grand parents) "Hi! I'm Molly." I said, introducing myself to Mrs. Jonas. "Hello, Molly, it's great to meet you, our boys have told us so much about you. They talk about you girls all the time." Mrs. J said, looking sadly at Cassie. Cassie stared at her shoes. No one knew why she had broken up with Joe. She refused to say anything about it, even to me. I had tried to get the answer from Joe, but his lips were sealed as well. I introduced myself to Mr. Jonas too and we all ordered our food. We ate and got to know each other. It was actually fun. After dinner, me, Cassie, Nick, Joe, and Kevin went for milkshakes at Braum's. "I'll have a chocolate milkshake." I said. "Vanilla, please." Kevin said. "Two strawberry milkshakes." Joe said, pulling out his wallet. "Why did you order for me?" Cassie asked. "I'm not a child, Joseph, I can order for myself." "Joseph?" Joe asked. "Since when do you call me Joseph? And I knew what you wanted, I know how much you like strawberries." Cassie sighed deeply. We finished our shakes. The guys went to their hotel and we went back to my cousin's house. Tomorrow the guys would meet my cousins. I had a bad feeling. But nothing would happen, everything would go smoothly. After all, my cousins weren't that evil.
Were they?
The Next Morning...
"Rise and shine! You don'twant to be asleep when the boys arrive, do you?" Chloe's voice said. "Uggggg...what time is it?" "6:30!" Chloe replied excitedly. I sat up and looked around. I was so tired I had collapsed on top of the bed...I still had my dressy outfit on! "Let's go, move it!" Chloe said, grabbing the side of the blanket and pulling it, causing me to roll off the bed. "What the freak was that for? Are you out of your mind, Chloe? I could've gotten hurt." Chloe, ignoring my comment, said cheerfully, "We'll need to get started on the house, then the garden...and we can't forget the guest house..." "Okay, what are you talked about?" Cassie said, sitting up. "Cleaning, silly! You're part of the family, of course, so you'll be helping us straighten up the house before the guys get here." I should have known. She was already reffering to them as 'the guys.' "Oh no...there is no way we're cleaning this mansion of a house just for-" "You have to. You're guests, and I'm telling you what to do...now do it before I make you leave." I shot a look at Cassie. "Fine, we'll do it." "You two can clean the guest house while I-" "Wait a sec- guest house? Why in the world would we have to clean your guest house?" I asked. It's not like it would be used by anyone anytime soon. "Better safe than sorry." Chloe said, turning to leave. "What the heck is that supposed to mean?" I asked. "There's a big storm heading in tonight...we don't want your friend to have to drive in the rain, do you? It might be dangerous." She gave us a smug expression and flounced out of the room. "She's kidding, right? There's no way that..." "I hear rain storms here- especially by the lake- are pretty dangerous." "Oh. My. God." Cassie said. This was going to be a disaster.
The guys got here, and, surprise surprise, it started pouring rain. They stood on the porch like they were afraid of my cousins. (Hey, can't blame them) Cassie and I were standing in front of them, my cousins behind us. "Hi Nick!" Chloe said, trying to get to them. "Uhhhh, you guys can like come in any time." I said, stepping back. Ginger and Chloe rushed forward. "OMG, you guys are awesome, we love you, we're your biggest fans!" Chloe exclaimed. Ginger just stood there like an idiot and said, "Hi Kevin." Joe was getting impaitent. "Uhhhh, since we can't drive in the rain, where are we going to sleep? I mean, like if you guys have a couch or something we can sleep on..." Chloe burst out laughing. "Couches? Wow, Joe, you're hilarious...you guys can sleep in the guest house." "Okay, then can you like show us where it is?" Joe asked impaitiently. "Sure, follow me." Chloe said, batting her eyelashes. "Cool." Joe said. They went to the guest room to get settled and we went to our room. I sat down on my bed. "I'm so board." Cassie said, jumping on her bed. "Get down, you'll break something." I said. "It doesn't matter, they have enough money to replace it, they're rich." Even though that was true, I didn't want to be hated by my cousins for breaking furniture. "Why can't we be rich? We could go to an awesome college, we could get an apartment to share, we could have a good career. Why can't it be easy to get rich?" "We could always start a band or something...they certainly make it look easy." I said sighing. "Great, let's start now. We'll become famous." "You've got to be kidding me." "I'm not. Think of it this way: we have great voices, we can play instruments, and we have rockstar best friends that will let us open for them on their tour. She makes it sound so simple, I thought. "Fine. But you're the one who's going to write our first song." I said. "Will do. Wait - where's my journal?" Cassie said, panicing. "It's got to be somewhere..." I said. Her journal was special to her, she would be really upset if she couldn't find it. "I'll bet Chloe took it." Cassie said. "Didn't you have it this morning? At the guest house?" As I finished, she turned torwards me. "Oh my god." she said. "It can't be that bad...what's in there?" I asked hopfully. "Not much, only my most inner feelings about Joe."
Joe's POV
We had just got settled in when I saw something under the bed. I bent down and picked it up. It was a journal. On the front, a name was printed. Kathryn Isabella Rose. Knowing I shouldn't, but not really caring, I opened it up to the most recent entry and read:
Dear Journal,
Today was the worst day of my life.
My dad found out about Joe. He
made me call him and break up with
him. No one knows, just me. I don’t
want Joe to know, though I honestly
don’t know why. I feel so bad. I miss
Joe. A lot. He barely talks to me any
more. I don’t know what happened
between us. I guess he’s still mad about
me breaking up with him. Maybe it’s
for the best…maybe some good could
come out of this. Maybe…yeah, right.
I hate my dad for making me do that.
I don’t think I’ll ever forgive him. Next
year I’ll be in college, and when I graduate,
I’ll go find Joe and tell him the truth.
That’s all I have to write. I have to go
pack for Rock Port.
Love,
Kathryn Rose
I gasped. So that was why...
I grabbed the car keys and opened the door. "Joe, what are you doing?" Nick asked, looking concerned. "I'm going to set things right." I said, going out into the pouring rain.
It was time I met Cassie's dad.
Chapter 19
"We have to get my journal back. We have to." Cassie whined. "Chillax, we'll get it back. We'll just sneak over there and get it. No sweat."
10 minutes later, we were both dressed in black clothes, ready to sneak. "Let's syncronize our watches." I suggested. "We don't have watches." Cassie pointed out. "Okay, are you ready?" I asked. "Let's go."
We got some walkie-talkies (conveniant, huh?) and headed outside. I was to stand outside in the bushes while Cassie distracted Nick and Kevin. When she gave the signal, I would sneak in and get her journal. "Okay, you're sure you left it under the bed?" I asked. "Positive." Cassie said. "Let's do this." I said, putting my sunglasses on. "What are you doing?" Cassie whispered. "It gives me dramatic effect." I said simply. "Why do you need dramatic effect? The point is for them not to see us, remember?" "Fine, fine." I grumbled, taking the sunglasses off. We neared the house. I took my place behind the bushes. Cassie stood on the porch. My walkie-talkie buzzed. "This is Mrs. Danger, you in position? Over." "This is Mrs. Nick Jonas, yup, I'm in position, don't say over."
"What are you doing out here?" I whirled around to see Nick. "Hey, Nick, funny story..." Cassie's voice came over the walkie-talkie. "This is Mrs. Danger, what the heck are you doing over there, Mrs. Nick Jonas?" Nick cracked up. "Mrs. Nick Jonas...and Mrs. Danger...wow you guys are something else." "I know." I said, fluffing my hair. "So, care to tell me why you're out here in the pouring rain?" "Yeah, I'll pass." "Mmmm-hmmm."
"Just go back inside...forget this ever happened." "Right...like that's possible. Mrs. Nick Jonas...you guys are hilarious..." "Mrs. Nick Jonas! Are you in position? We don't have much time to steal the journal, okay?" Nick laughed even more. Then he became serious. "What journal?" he asked. "Cassie's. She left it here when we were cleaning." "Awww, you guys cleaned- for us? We're nothing special." "To us you are." "Awww, that's sweet. Now, dare I ask- why can't you just ask us to give you your journal?" "Cause Joe would read it." I said absentmindedly. "Molly! Answer me! We need to get in there now or else they'll read it! That journal has my most inner feelings for Joe in it!"
I gulped.
"Okay, I see where this is going. Go get James Bond and come inside."
"But Joe-" I started. "Joe's not here." Nick said.
"Mrs. Danger, we have been caught by FroBro. Procede inside."
We got inside. "My hair does not look like a fro. Does it?" Nick asked, examining his hair. "Kevin? Is my hair a fro?" "Ummmm...no comment." Nick rolled his eyes and sat down. "Okay, it's time to play truth or truth. Cassie goes first. Your truth question is: Why are you trying to break in to our house?" Cassie's face reddened. "We were trying to get my journal back." "You mean this?" Kevin walked in holding Cassie's journal. "OMG, you found it! Thanks, Kev." "It wasn't hard to find. It was right on top of on of the beds." "On top?" Cassie said slowly. "Yeah, I think Joe was looking at it earlier today. Then, after reading it, he just took off. Said he had to make things right." Cassie gasped. "My bookmark...it's in a different page." She flipped to the page, silently reading the entry.
"Oh my god."
Chapter 20
Joe returned the next morning without a word. At breakfast, he was silent. He acted as if he hadn't even read the journal. Cassie was silent, too. It was really awkward...Joe and Cassie, not even speaking, Nick and Kevin, trying to make conversation (and failing), and Chloe and Ginger, talking wayyyyyyy too much. Then Chloe crossed the line.
"so, Joe are you busy tonight, after the concert? I was thinking we could go get some pizza."
Everyone stopped and stared. I dropped my forkful of scrambled eggs. Only Cassie kept eating, but I cpuld totally tell she was listening for his answer.
Joe mumbled, "Can't. I'm allergic to pizza."
I breathed. I hadn't realized I had been holding my breath. Nick and Kevin exchanged glances. Ginger was staring at Joe with surprise.
And Cassie....
Cassie didn't show much emotion. But I swear I saw her smile.
_________________________________________________________________
"How are you guys doin' tonight?" Nick asked the crowd.
There was a choruse of screams as a reply. The crowd was huge. There were tons of signs, many with Joe's name on them. I think Cassie was a little jealous...
"Okay, we're gonna kick things off tonight with one of our favorites, Burnin' Up!" Nick yelled. More screams. But something was going on. Nick's face was puzzled. Joe was speaking into his mic. (They were little mics so they can talk to each other on stage and no one can hear them. It's awesome.) Nick shrugged. "Scratch that, we're going to start with one of our newer songs, Sorry."
"What are they doing?" Cassie hissed. She knew the song had been Joe's idea.
"Broken hearts and last goodbyes,
restless nights but lullabyes
help to make this pain go away..."
After the concert, Cassie did everything to stay away from Joe. He tried to follow her. He finally caught up with her. "I'm sorry, Cass, just hear me out-" A stage hand entered the room. "Uhh, Joe, sorry to interupt, but your meet and greet is starting, they need you down there...like, now..."
Joe sighed. "I'll be right there." he said. He followed the stage guy to the meet and greet room.
The meet and greet finished early, Joe said he didn't feel well. He went into the backstage area and collapsed on a couch. I walked in. "You okay?" "No." "Why?" "I don't know how to tell her." "You did talk to her dad, didn't you?" "Yeah. I got the OK, but...I don't think she likes me anymore."
Suddenly, I had a lightbulb moment.
"Well, ya know, our school prom is next Friday...she doesn't have a date yet." "I don't think that's such a great idea." "Just trying to help." "Sorry."
I felt that I said what needed to be said, so I left the room. I was in the hallway when I heard...singing?
Chapter 21
Cassie POV
This sucks. My life sucks. Everyone sucks. Especially Joe.
He sang Sorry just to mess with my head. We all know he doesn't like me. I grabbed a guitar (Joe's) and jumped on stage. He was still at the meet and greet.
"I got tired of waiting,
wonderin if you were ever comin around,
my faith in you was fading,
when I met you on the outskirts of town,
and I said,
'Romeo, save me, I've been feelin so alone,
I keep waitin, for you but you never come
Is this in my head, I don't know what to think,
he knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said-"
Another voice joined in. A familiar voice.
"Marry me, Juilette, you'll never have to be alone,
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad go pick out a prom dress,
it's a love story, baby just say
yes."
I whirled around to see Joe with a sheepish grin on his face. I smiled. I ran and hugged him. We stood there, hugging each other, swaying...
I took my head off his shoulder for a moment to look up at him.
He kissed me.
It was everything I'd dreamed about...and more.
I absolutly melted. I started crying a little, but honestly, who could blame me?
I hugged him again.
He leaned in to whisper in my ear,
"I love you."
Chapter 22
Backstage at the TX concert
"Okay, guys, we're leaving. Can you manage to survive?"
"Uhhh, we'll be okay...where are you going anyway?"
"We're going to get our prom dresses!" Cassie squealed.
"Excited much?" Joe asked sarcasticlly.
"Come on Joe, you're just jealous because you know some other guy is going to be dancing with Cassie at the dance." I said, laughing.
"Yeah, about that dance..." Joe started hesitantly.
"Mmm Hmmm?"
"Well, I've looked at my always busy shedual (???) and..."
"Joe! No way!"
"Yeah...yes way."
Cassie jumped up and down, sqealing and hugging Joe.
"You're amazing, you know that?"
"Believe me babe, I know it." Joe said flipping his hair for emphesis.
"Well, we're off." I said, kissing Nick and heading out the door.
"HEY!!!!" Selena yelled as she burst through the door.
"Owww!" I yelled, rubbing my head.
"Oh...sorry..." Selena said, giving me a sympathetic look that lasted about 1/2 of a second. She shrugged, flipped her hair, and flounced into the room.
"Selena..." I growled as Cassie and Nick helped me up.
"Hey Joe, hey Kevin," Selena greeted them.
"Hey Nick." she said flirtatiously, twisting her hair around her finger. Nick's face showed no emotion. Cassie held me back as if she thought I were about to attack.
The door swung open, there stood Miley and Demi.
"Hey Nick!" Miley said excitedly.
Selena wrapped her arm around Nick's waist protectively and Miley immediatly backed off.
Celebrities.
Demi waltzed in, sporting super high heels. She wobbled once, and Cassie nearly burst out in laughter.
"Hey Joewooooahhhhh!" Demi cried, falling into Joe. It was my turn to restrain Cassie...
"Wow Dems, you sure know how to make an entrance."
"Thanks." she said, flipping her hair.
"Uhhhh, could you get off me?"
"No, I'm comfortable, how 'bout you?"
Cassie bent down, offering a hand to Demi.
"Hi, I'm Cassie, I'm Joe's girlfriend."
Demi rolled off of Joe.
"Hehe, sorry about that...I'm superclumsy."
"No prob," Cassie said, relaxing.
"And besides, everyone wants a piece of him," Cassie said, jerking her thumb over her shoulder. Demi turned around to see Joe flip his hair ego-ishly.
The two laughed and started chatting.
So one of us was being nice. I sighed and walked over to Selena. Taking a breath, I stepped forward and tapped her shoulder.
"Hey, I'm-"
"I know who you are! Nicky's told me tons about you."
"Really?" I asked hopfully.
"No!" Selena said girlishly.
"Okay then, Cassie, lets go." I pulled Cassie off of the couch and out the door.
"Nice meeting y'all." I said hastilly. With that, I rushed outside.
____________________________________________________________________________
"Okay, who were those country bumkins? I mean, seriously, the girl said y'all." Selena said, jumping onto the couch.
"Oh, ya know...Nick and Joe's girlfriends." Kevin said.
"Right...whatever..." Selena said, examining her nails.
All five rolled their eyes.
"So what do y'all want to do?" Selena said, imitating Molly.
"Let's play truth or dare!" Miley suggested.
"Sure," said Joe,"I'm up for a challenge."
"Okay." Kevin said.
Nick bit his lip hesitantly. This didn't seem like a good idea...
"Okay. I'm in."
_______________________________________________________________________
"OMG! This is the awesomest dress I've ever seen!" I gasped.
I picked up a hot pink dress. Cassie rolled her eyes.
"I'm going for a more classic look-ohhh! Look! Lace up dresses!"
Cassie pulled out a champaign colored dress with a laced uped back.
"Wow...cool. Joe'll flip when he sees you in that."
We tried on the dresses. We got the right sizes and grabbed some Subway for lunch. We drove home (or at least to the concert arena).
_________________________________________________________________________
"Okay, Nick, truth or dare?" Miley asked menicingly.
"Trut-"
"Nick! You've done nothing but truths! Do a dare!" Joe yelled.
"Fine. Dare."
Selena heard a car door slam. She knew Molly and Cassie were back.
"I dare you-" Miley started.
"To kiss me." Selena butted in.
"Now Selena-" Joe started.
"Don't try to protect him. A dare's a dare."
"But Sel-"
"No, Joe, she's right. A dare's a dare."
"But you've got a girl-"
"Joe."
Joe fell silent as Nick leaned in to kiss Selena....
_______________________________________________________________________
"That was uber fun!" Cassie exclaimed, getting her dress out of the trunk.
"I know! I'm so excited for prom!" I said, grabbing my dress (gently) and heading for the door.
I sighed.
"It's going to be perfect! The lights, the decorations, the music- it'll be wonderful. And the best part? Our dates. You'll go with Joe and I'll go with Nick-"
I stopped, standing in the doorway to see Nick making out with Selena.
Chapter 23
We were back at school. I hadn't spoken a word to Nick.
Here's how it all went down:
I walked in, saw Nick and Selena, blah blah blah.
The next part absolutly kills me. He didn't even notice.
But Selena did. She depened the kiss, running her hands through his hair.
Joe, Kevin, Miley and Demi were staring at Nick. Then they would look at me to see my reaction this went on for a few more moments.
I felt so stupid. Standing there like an idiot while my boyfriend finished his makeout seession with Selena Gomez.
When one of them finally pulled away (it was Selena) they were both breathless. Selena looked over Nick's head and smirked at me.
By the time Nick noticed me, I had tears running down my face. I was still standing there in the doorway, tears streaming down my face, mouth hung open.
The room kind of cleared, Kevin was 'working on a new song and suddenly had an idea', Cassie 'wanted to show Joe her dress', and Miley, Demi, and Selena 'had to leave.'
I stood there in front of Nick.
His head hung low. It should.
"I'm-"
"Don't say you're sorry. Don't lie to me."
Nick was silent.
"How could you do this to me? How?"
"I- I don't know."
I shook my head.
I looked at him.
"I loved you."
Nick looked taken aback.
"I-"
"My mistake."
Chapter 24
I was sitting on the couch at home. It had been about a week since I had spoken to Nick.
The doorbell rang.
"It's open!" I yelled. I was too lazy to answer it. Or maybe I wasn't. It hurt every time I did something that reminded me of Nick. I remembered leaving him, those long, misrable 6 months. I remembered when he knocked on the door, telling me he loved me. I, like an idiot, forgave him.
That's why I wouldn't answer the door.
I also wouldn't leave the house. Every magazine had his face plastered all over it. Every time my mom gave me my J-14 magazine I burst into tears.
Cassie walked into the living room.
"You're still not over him?"
"Pssshhh, of course I'm over him."
"No, you're not. I've known you long enough to know you 'Breakup Routine.'"
"Huh?"
"Come on! Everytime you go through a bad breakup, you watch CSI reruns all day and eat nothing but Fruit Roll Ups and Beans Burritos for Taco Bell!"
I looked at the floor, trying my best to shove the Taco Bell bag and the Fruit Roll Up wrappers under the couch.
"Okay...I'm not over him."
"Good! I have the perfect solution."
"What?"
"Uggg...you're sooooo slow. I'm gonna help you get over Nick."
"How?"
"We're going to make a You-Tube video."
____________________________________________________________________________
Cassie set up the camera and started recording. She pushed me into the view of the camera. She grabbed her iPhone and started playing '7 Things' in the background.
"Go! Say something!"
"Hey, guys..." I said with an awkward wave of my hand.
"You all know me as...well, as Nick's girlfriend."
"But not anymore...I'm now his ex-girlfriend. And...I have a few things to say to Nick."
Cassie gave me a thumbs up from behind the camera.
"Stop...this isn't working."
"The camera's working fine."
"Not the camera! This...whole thing."
"Fine then. How do you want to do it?"
"I don't know...but I can't just bash Nick on You tube!"
"Yeah, you can. Miley did."
"Yeah..." I said softly. I started humming 7 Things.
I started singing, and before I knew it, I was dancing around in front of the camera. I sang it as loud as I could. I wanted to ruin him.
I finished the last line. (I skipped the 'I Like' part) I sat in fronty of the camera.
"Nick Jonas was my boyfriend." I said shakily.
"But not anymore..."
"I caught him kissing selena Gomez...while we were dating."
"And I'm here to tell you...the seven things I hate about Nick Jonas."
_____________________________________________________________________
"Okay...number one. He snores. Talk about annoying!"
"Number two. He obsesses about his hair aaaaalllllllll the time."
"Number three. The fans. Guys, sorry to break it to ya, but he doesn't care. He says he does, sure, but he also said he loved me!"
Number four...the ego. At ever concert they demand certain things. '20 bottles of Fiji water' and then '15 bottles of Aquafina.' That's rediculous! Bring your own water!"
"Yeah!" Cassie chimed in.
"Number five...his feet! Whhheeewwww, those things stink!"
"Number six...he says he's never cheated on a girlfriend. That's a big, fat, lie. He cheated on me with Selena. Who knows how many other girls he's been two timing!"
"And finally, number seven. The EGO! The whole 'group prayer' thing? Not true! I've never heard the boy pray...ever! And he hates meet and greets! He told me himself! He thinks you little fans are annoying! He thinks it's a pain to sign autographs and meet you guys. He isn't grateful. He doesn't keep his promises. And...
he doesn't love me..." I whimpered.
I burst into tears.
"He broke my heart, okay? I'm not over him! I'm not! But that's okay! I can live with it! I can live with the pain! It's okay that I feel like someone is stabbing me evey time I see his picture! It's okay I'll drop to my knees and cry every time I hear his voice! I'll be okay...knowing he'll never love me!"
I cried hystericlly.
Cassie turned the camera off. After doing all she could do to comfort me, she left.
I was all alone. I was sad. I wanted Nick back. I wanted everything to be okay. I wanted him...
to love me back.
Chapter 25
The phone rang. Luckily it was right next to the couch so I didn't have to get up. I hurt. It hurt to move, it hurt to talk, it hurt to live.
"I did it!!!!" Cassie screamed in my ear.
"Hmmmm?"
"I did it! I booked us for the prom!"
I sat up quickly. Screw the pain, Cassie and I were going to be proforming at the prom!
"That's awesome! Does Ashley know?"
"Nopester. I called you first!"
"Awwww, your the best."
"I know! Now, we need to rehearse, rehearse, rehearse!"
"What are we gonna sing? We've got tons of options, we've practiced every song known to man. Or we could sing one of our original songs..."
"I was thinking 'A Thousand Miles'..."
"Okay...I'll call Ashley!"
I hung up and dialed Ashley's number. She was our piano player. Cassie played guitar, and my friend Kiara played drums. It was awesome.
I told Ashley. She was as excited as me. I hung up the phone and settled back into the couch. I smiled faintly. The pain was slowly going away. The hole in my chest where my heart used to be was mending itself. Now, instead of feeling I was being stabbed with knives when I saw his face, it only felt like push pins. A lot of push pins.
my eyes for a moment. I felt healed.
The phone rang. My moment of happiness would soon end.
"Hello?"
"What the hell, Molly?"
"Nick?" I cried, wrapping my arms aroung myself. I felt like I was being ripped into. Like I was being torn up inside.
"What...what do you mean?"
"The video! The video, Molly!"
Crap. She put it on You Tube? Geez, I was going to kill Cassie.
"What about the video, Nick?" I asked calmly.
"Go on You Tube. Now."
"I can't move."
"Then I'll tell you. The comments...the views...over 3 billion people have watched it! And the comments...Molly, they hate me! You absolutly ruined my career! My friends...they won't talk to me. The press won't leave me alone! And the fans...they're gone. They think I don't care."
The sadness in my heart nearly made me cry.
"And you know what? You're right. Totally right!"
"What?"
"In the video. You said I don't love you. You're right. And I never will. I never did."
He said this so intensly I dropped the phone.
All the lies...
I started crying. The tears streamed down my cheeks. I was a mess.
I heard a click and knew he hung up. He really didn't care.
I dried my tears after two hours of nonstop crying. I called Cassie, Ashley, and Kiara. They came to my house to rehearse. We ran through 'A Thousand Miles' a couple hundered times.
We were ready for prom.
Chapter 26
***Prom***
I was at my house, getting ready. I took a shower and blow dried my hair. I slipped my dress on carefully. I put a bit of makeup on. I didn't fix my hair, thought, I left it down. I put my high heels on, examining my pedicured toes.
I sighed. All this work and I was dateless.
The limo came at around at 6:30. In it was Cassie and Joe, Kiara and Jason, and Tim. Tim was Ashley's date. Ashley was running late with her dress and was going to meet us at the hotel.
I didn't speak for the rest of the ride. When Joe realized what was going on, he tried to cheer me up.
"You know, I'm not supposed to tell you this, but Nick's coming."
"Nuh uh."
"Yuh huh. I saw him getting his nice suit out of his closet."
"Really?"
"Yuppers."

We got to the hotel where the prom was and got onstage to get ready.
"Bye!" Cassie said, quickly kissing Joe.
My cell rang. It was Ashley.
"Hello?" I said.
"What do you mean she's sick?"

"And she's sure she can't come?" Cassie asked frantically.
"Positive. She's throwing up all over the place."
"We can't do the song without piano! We can't!"
"Can't you sorta cover it up with guitar?"
"Uhhhh..."
"Can you?"
"Yeah...but it's not gonna sound too great..."
"I've got it! Joe'll play!"
"We can't! If someone sees him, what will they do? They'll mob the stage, that's what they'll do!"
"Then what are you gonna do when you're dancing?"
"He brought a disciuse (???)!"
I looked aroung to see Joe in a fake pair of glasses with a fake moustasce (???).
I sighed.
"Just...cover it up. We've got to go."
Cassie grabbed her guitar and Kiara sat down to her drumset.
An empty piano mocked us.
I walked up to the mic nervously.
"And now, providing live entertainment for us tonight, The General State of Confusion*!"
* This is actually the name of my friend's band. Ashley is in it. I'm in a band with Cassie. We've thought of a name, but it's in Spanish, and I have no idea how to spell it. And BTW we don't actuyally sing in Spanish...lol.
Anyway...
Cassie and Kiara started playing. I softly started singing:
"Makin my way downtown
walkin fast
faces pass
and I'm homebound."
"Starin blankly ahead
just makin my way,
makin my way through the crowd."
I sang the chorse (???) uneasily. I got to the second verse.
"It's always time like these
when I think of you
and I wonder if you ever think of me."
I hadn't realized how much this song reminded me of Nick. Speaking of Nick, I looked Joe's way. Was Nick really coming? I gave Joe 'the look' and he shrugged. He didn't know where Nick was either.
"Casue everything's so wrong
and I don't belong
livin in your presious memories."
"Cause I need you
and I'll miss you
and now I wonder...
if I could fall
into the sky
do you think time
would pass me by?
Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I
could just see you...
tonighttttttttttttt!"
I finished the last line of the chorse to hear a totally unexpected sound. Piano music?
I turned to see none other than Nick, working his magic on the piano. I kinda stred at him for a moment. He flashed me his killer smile and I absolutly melted.
I turned back to the audiance. They heard Nick's music, too. They started crowding around the stage, actually listening.
I finished the song with the same enthusiasm Nick used. We finished and the DJ took over. Cassie and Kiara started squealing.
I walked up to Nick, trying to be strong.
"I think what you did was very nice and I-"
"I take it back."
"What?"
"I take back what I said. I love you...and I always will."
I grinned. With that, he swept me off my feet and kissed me.
