Chapter 1
"Cause an empty room can be so loud……" Jane looked up from her homework to see her cell phone ringing. She reached over and picked it up
"Hello?"
"Hey Jane, it's Kevin" Jane smiled. She couldn’t help but smile when she talked to Kevin. Her mom’s old college roommate, Laurie, worked at a record label with his dad, Kevin Jonas Sr. When Jane and her mom went to visit last summer she had introduced Jane to the Jonas Brothers at a concert. It was an amazing experience. She had been star struck at first, but after hanging out with them she just saw them as her friends. She always loved spending time with them. All of them were so sweet. Being closest to Kevin in age she felt especially close to him. He was like her brother, all of them were. She saw them when she was in L.A. with Laurie but she mostly talked on the phone with them.
"Hey Kevin, didn’t you have a show tonight?" she asked.
"Yeah in D.C., we just finished."
"Cool, how'd it go?"
"Pretty great since Joe silly stringed the first three rows," Kevin replied. Jane started to laugh.
"That's so funny and totally Joe."
"I know right? But um, the reason I called was that we're coming to Raleigh in two weeks and wanted to know if you wanted to come and see our show. I already booked three tickets one for you, one for Summer, and an extra if you wanna bring a friend or something." Jane had almost forgotten the guys had met Summer. They had only met her once when she had come with Jane to a show. She was Jane’s best friend.
"Well, I had already gotten really excited about sitting around doing nothing that night..." Jane smiled, that was really sweet of Kevin to think of her.
"Oh, well what if I said they were front row?" Kevin asked
"Then I might be able to fit it in my schedule. When is it?" Jane replied. She always loved the guys shows.
"Two weeks from Friday at the Raleigh Auditorium at eight. Come like an hour early to get your tickets and stuff. Just give the lady at the front your name and that you're with us."
"Great, thanks a lot Kevin, that was really nice of you to remember me.
"No problem, Joe and Nick wanna see you too."
"Oh I bet, tell Joe I still want a ‘go fish’ rematch.” She glanced at her clock “You should get to bed, its almost eleven."
"Yeah your probably right, and I’ll let Joe know. ‘Night Jane."
"Bye Kevin." Jane hung up. She couldn't wait. She already knew who she was gonna invite. Summer and Kelly, they were the only ones who really knew that she kept up with the guys and Kelly had been dying to meet them, now was her chance. She was sure the guys would like them, they were definitely Jane's closest guy friends and Kelly and Summer were pretty much they're hugest fans. This was gonna be interesting.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** *
Kevin set down the phone. He hadn't seen Jane in a while since they'd been so busy with the tour. When Laurie asked them to meet Jane he had expected just another fan, but he had been wrong. She was confident, funny, and was very down to earth. He really liked talking with her. All three of them did.
"Hey Kevin catch!" a nerf football came from no where and hit Kevin in the head.
"Ow! Joe stop throwing stuff on the bus!" Kevin looked up to see Joe walking back to the sofa Kevin was sitting on.
"Sorry, so is Jane coming?"
"Yeah, she'll be able to make it.”
"Cool, I like your little girlfriend." Joe said throwing the football in the air and catching it.
"What? she is not my girlfriend" Kevin answered
"You sure? Cause your face sure gets red every time you talk to her."
"No it does not." Kevin threw a pillow at him. It didn't, did it?
"Whatever" Joe said dropping the football to catch the pillow "Where's Nick?"
"Are you kidding, he was asleep as soon as we got on the bus." Joe laughed
"Why does that not surprise me” Kevin responded.
“ Well I'm going to bed too, night."
"Night." Kevin called after him. He looked out the window to see the D.C. lights rushing by
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"Good Morning!" Jane closed her locker to see Kelly's always smiling face.
"Wow, someone had sugar this morning." Jane yawned "and it wasn't me."
"Yeah coffee!" Kelly said holding up her cup.
" well I was up late doing homework," she casually shut her locker "oh and Kevin called." even though Jane was zipping up her book bag she could still see Kelly's face light up.
"Kevin? Why did he call you so late?"
"He had just finished a show. He called to let me know he got me tickets to the Raleigh show in two weeks." Kelly nearly dropped her cup.
"No way! No way!" they both started walking to the science building.
"Yeah, would you maybe be interested in going?" Jane asked smiling.
"YES! I'll get to see Nick in person! Is he dating anybody, he is isn't he? Oh I hope he‘s not."
"I don't know, I'll have to ask him," RING! The tardy bell rang. "Right after biology." They both rushed to their classes.

“Hey Nick, pass those strings,” Nick tossed the box to Kevin. They were on the bus rehearsing.
“Thanks” Kevin opened the box and started to work on one of his guitars.
“No problem,” Nick replied “ hey do you like this?” He pulled out a sheet of music and started to play. Kevin listened, it was good. Nick had always been great at writing stuff.
“ So what do you think?” Nick looked up expectantly.
“I like it,” Joe replied “Is that all you have so far?”
“So far, yeah” Nick continued to write on the paper. Joe looked up at Kevin.
“So what’s the deal with you and Jane? She knows you like her right?”
“ No, we’re just friends, no pun intended.” Kevin saw Nick smile as he wrote.
“Just wondering cause you talk about her a lot. Its really pretty cute, you get all shy and…”
“Cut it out Joe, you think she’s great too, you said so.” Kevin pointed out as he started blushing.
“Yeah, she is pretty cool. And I totally beat her at go fish.” Joe smiled
“Oh yeah, she says she wants a rematch” Kevin said
“Oh I bet, what do you think Nick?” Joe asked suddenly looking over at him.
“ I think you could rematch her, go for it, why?”
“No, I mean do you think she and Kevin are secretly dating?” Joe raised his eyebrows
“Oh, well there’s no way, Kevin can’t keep a secret.” He and Joe started laughing. “She’s cool though, you should go out with her, she is really fun.“ Nick said looking over at Kevin.
“True, now her friend, Summer, she was fun to talk to.” Joe smiled remembering Jane’s cute friend.
“Ha, you would think so. I‘m sure they‘d both love dating guys who they get to see twice a year.” Kevin looked over at Nick and grabbed the music. He began to read.
“I like it but change this…” Kevin began to erasing “…to this” he handed it back to Nick.
“Yeah, I like this better.”
Kevin’s phone started to ring. He grabbed it and answered.
“Hello?”
“ Hey it’s Jane, are you busy?” she asked.
Joe whispered “It’s Jane, I know cause your smiling like an idiot and-” Kevin smacked him in the head and returned to his conversation.
“Hey Jane, I’ve got time. What’s up ?”
“Just wanted to say thanks for the tickets and that my friends can’t wait. And I’m pretty excited too.” Jane replied
No problem, it’ll be a blast. So what did you do today?” Kevin asked as he got up to walk away from Joe and Nick.
“Not much, school, coffee, oh and I found out that Mr. Potato head was the first toy advertised on TV.” That was so nice of him to care about her day. Kevin laughed. Jane loved that laugh.
“Okaay…random.” he said slowly.
“It’s true! That kind of knowledge might win you money or something!”
“Right…so have you heard Girl of My Dreams yet?”
“Yes! And I love it!”
Kevin laughed “yeah Joe came up with some of the more entertaining lyrics.”
“I figured, let him know Summer and I thought it was great.”
“Oh he’ll appreciate that, especially the Summer part.” Kevin smiled slyly.
“Meaning..” Jane wasn’t sure what he was saying.
“Well, you can’t tell Summer, but I think Joe likes her.” Kevin said.
“Really, do they talk a lot?” Summer had been talking about Joe, Jane thought she liked him too.
“I don’t think so, they’d be a really great couple though.” Kevin had liked Summer too, she was just the kind of girl Joe needed.
“Oh, I know!” she was now getting very excited about the whole idea. “ I would play matchmaker but my love life is nothing to brag about.” Kevin perked up. He had never heard Jane talk about a boyfriend, he just assumed she had one.
“What do you mean?”
“ Well my last relationship lasted a good, umm…four days, it was really lame.” Jane laughed.
“Aww, sad” Kevin smiled, “ I guess no playing cupid for us.”
“I guess not,” Jane smiled again. Kevin was just so east to talk to. He checked his watch, 5:30, they had sound check at 5:45.
“Hey Jane , I’m sorry but I gotta go, sound check. I’ll talk to you soon though.”
“Ok, bye Kevin, you’ll be great!”
“Ok thanks, bye Jane.”
“Bye”
Kevin hung up. He turned to Nick and Joe
“Come on guys, time to rock.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Summer was doing homework in the quad when Kelly skipped over.
“Hey Summer! Did you hear? Kevin gave Jane tickets to the Raleigh show!” Summer looked up, she knew Kevin and Jane talked sometimes, but she hadn’t known he had given her tickets.
“Really? Cool” Summer tried to be happy, but couldn’t help felling sad that Joe hadn’t given her tickets, or even called lately. He had been really nice when she met him, but maybe he was just being polite. He met hundreds of girls a day, why would she be any different to him. Kelly picked up on Summer’s sadness.
“Hey? Are you okay?” Kelly looked genuinely concerned.
“I’m fine, now I have an excuse to go shopping!” Summer smiled at Kelly. She would get over Joe. She didn’t need any extra boy drama.
“I am so excited, I hope we get to meet them! That would be so great!” Kelly continued to ramble about the upcoming concert as Jane walked up.
“Well, I guess Kelly told you about the concert. Can you come?”
Jane set her stuff down next to them.
“yeah! It’ll be fun!” Summer turned to Jane, “ So how often do you and Kevin talk?” Jane looked up from her books.
“Just every once in a while, not constantly.”
Summer nodded. “So are you guys like together, you and Kevin, I mean?”
Jane shook her head “ No. I talk to all of them. Not just him. We’re kind of like pen pals. Just on the phone.” Kelly laughed.
“Jane, that made no sense.” the three of them began to laugh.
“well what would you call it?” Jane said mock defensively.
“I don’t know?” Kelly continued to laugh.
“Let’s go grab some coffee and strategize outfits.” Jane started to gather her books. The girls got their stuff together and headed to Jane’s car discussing earrings.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The night of the concert all the girls were super excited, Jane had on S.O.S. as the girls sang and laughed on their way to the concert. When they arrived Jane walked up to the ticket box.
“Hi, umm, I’m Jane Levenson, I was told I would have three tickets waiting. The woman at the box smiled.
“Uh-huh I’ve got them right here.” She passed her the tickets, “You girls are supposed to go to the first hallway on the right, last door.” Jane took the tickets. “Hallway?” she thought, “Shouldn’t they head toward the auditorium?” Kelly and Summer looked surprised too. Jane looked at them and shrugged her shoulders.
“I don’t know what the deal is, but let’s go find out.” The three of them walked toward the hallway. As they neared the door they heard a guitar. At the same time all of them began to speak.
“Jane, do you know…” Summer said
“Kevin never mentioned..” Jane began
“O my jonas, O my jonas!” Kelly chanted.
They were at the door. Jane opened it and walked inside. Summer and Kelly hung behind.
“Jane!” They heard Kevin put down his guitar. Summer and Kelly walked inside. It was a good sized room. There were some snacks on a table and two couches. Mr. Jonas was on the phone in the corner, he waved at Jane and continued talking. Joe was sitting on one of the couches talking to Nick. They both got up when the girls walked inside. Jane gave all of them a hug.
“It’s so good to see you guys! I’m really excited about the concert.” Jane smiled.
“Yeah I was really glad you could come. Hey Summer.” Kevin said smiling at her “Good to see you again!” Summer smiled back shyly. She had never gotten as comfortable around the guys as Jane was and Kelly was just in shock.
“Guys this is Kelly. Kelly these are the guys.” Jane smiled gesturing to both groups. “and you all already know Summer.”
“Yeah, Nice to meet you Kelly.” Nick stuck out his hand as she shook it and giggled nervously.
“Yeah, you too!”
Joe turned to Summer.
“So you excited about the concert?” he asked her.
“Yeah! I’ve been excited to see you again. I mean not just you, all of you. Not that I didn’t want to see you specifically, I just ummm…” Summer blushed obviously embarrassed.
“I couldn’t wait to see you either” Joe said giving her a hug. Jane and Kevin shared a secret smile. The guys offered them snacks and all of them hung out and talked for fifteen more minutes.
“Well its quarter till you guys. You should probably head to your seats.” Kevin said. “We’ll talk to you after the show.”
“Um-kay, Kelly, Summer, come on.” Jane started walking out. Summer and Kelly followed her.
“Hope you guys enjoy the show!” Joe called after them.
“Bye!” Nick said as the door closed. The girls walked back to the main area. It was packed with girls with sparkly posters talking excitedly. Kelly whispered even though they were far from earshot.
“ We just met the Jonas Brothers!” she sighed.
“Aren’t they super nice? But watch out for Nick playing air hockey. He’s vicious.” Jane smiled.
“I think there’s a story there. But I‘ll ask later” Summer said laughing.
“Maybe Joe will tell it to you, he was being really nice to you.” Jane pointed out.
“You noticed that too? I didn’t know if it was just me.” Summer admitted.
“No, he was definitely being sweet.” Kelly stated. Summer smiled
“He’s always like that you guys, it doesn’t mean much.” she reminded them.
“Righhtt.” Jane giggled.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
“Wow!” Summer yelled to Kelly over the deafening squeals of the girls around them. “They are AWESOME!” It was half-way through the show and the screaming had not stopped once. They were obviously not the only ones excited to be there. Jane looked up at the stage. Summer was right. Joe was tearing it up working the crowd as Kevin spun holding his guitar, and Nick was having a serious jam session on the drums. They really were incredibly talented guys. She was lucky to have such cool people for friends. As the show went on the guys would wave or smiled at them randomly. Kelly nearly fainted when Nick winked in her direction. After the show the guys’ security guard, Rob ,walked up as the auditorium slowly emptied.
“The guys will finish meet and greets in like thirty minutes would you be willing to wait for them till they’re done?”
“Yes!” Kelly said immediately.
“Alright, this way ladies” Big Rob smiled as he led them back to the room they had been in before. “Help yourselves to snacks, they’ll be here in thirty or forty minutes.” He waved and walked out.
“Well this is cool.” Jane said
“That show was cool!” Kelly said excitedly.
“Agreed.” Summer added. The three of them talked about every aspect of the concert. Forty-five minutes later there was a knock on the door.
“I swear if its crazy fans, trying to meet the guys, I’m out of here,” Summer said. Jane laughed and opened the door to let the boys in.
“So? What did you think?” Joe asked as he grabbed a water bottle.
“Awesome” Jane answered as she gave Nick a hug.
“Definitely, but you have really loud fans.” Summer said as Kevin laughed.
“Why thank you! What about you Kelly?” he turned to her.
“That was amazing!” Kelly gushed. Nick laughed. “I’m glad you liked it.”
“You guys just look like you are having so much fun up there.” Jane commented.
“Oh, no, really? We hate performing.” Joe said.
“Really?” Kelly asked in shock. Everyone laughed.
“I think he was kidding Kelly,” Summer said.
“Oh!” Kelly blushed and laughed. “Sorry!”
“So where to now? You guys leaving tonight?” Jane questioned.
“Actually,” Nick said, “We’ve got a radio interview in Charlotte tomorrow afternoon. So for once we’re spending the night here.”
“No way, really?” Kelly said.
“Yeah, you guys wanna go do something?” Kevin asked the girls.
“Are you sure you guys don’t wanna get some rest?” Jane asked as she checked her cell phone. “It’s 10:30.”
“Nah, we’ll be fine, but Mom wants us on the bus no later than 12:30.” Joe smiled. Jane and Summer looked at each other. You can’t not love a guy who obeys his mom.
“So what do you guys wanna do?” Kevin asked.
“Can food be involved?” Nick asked.
“Yah, I’m sure we can find something for you.” Jane said patting him on the arm. “I’d hate for one of my little rock stars to go hungry. But I don’t think I can fit all of ya’ll in my car.”
“Well then I guess we’ll have to use the limo.” Kevin said. Everyone cheered as they walked to the parking lot. Jane and Kevin hung behind.
“Hey Rob and your Dad are coming right?” Jane asked.
“Of course. “ He answered. He paused “Is that okay?”
“Yah! I love your dad and Rob.”
“Just wondering, cause it bothers some of our friends when they follow us around.”
“What? It bothers them that Rob’s keeping you safe?” Jane laughed.
“No, I think they’re just weirded out by having them always with us.”
“Well It doesn’t bother me, plus, I’m pretty sure my mom appreciates it to.” She smiled as Kevin held the door to the limo open for her to get inside.
“So what’s the plan?” Joe asked.
“How about we head to McDonald’s. Nick looks starving.” Summer said. She gave the driver instructions. Joe turned on the stereo and blasted the radio. He turned to Jane and smiled,“ I love limos.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
An hour and a half, and 7 combo meals later (Nick had two). Everyone was sitting in an empty McDonald’s laughing. They were all crowded around a table with Rob and Mr. Jonas in the booth nearby.
“So then Joe blames it on Kevin, and he got in huge trouble!” Nick finished his story as everyone burst into laughter.
“You guys, this is so much fun!” Summer said as she played with Joe’s straw wrapper. It had taken her awhile, but she was finally comfortable talking to the guys.
“I know, right?” Joe agreed. Kevin checked his phone.
“11:45, Anyone for a milkshake? On me?” he asked.
“Yeah!” Everyone but Nick cheered. They all walked up to the counter as he hung back.
“Aren’t you hungry?” Kelly asked him.
“Oh, no. I’m diabetic.” he answered.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” Kelly replied quietly.
“It’s not so bad.” Nick began to explain his disease to her as she waited in line to order.
“Having fun?” Kevin asked Jane as everyone figured out which flavor they wanted.
“Yes! This is awesome!” She leaned back on the counter. “ So how many stops until this tour is over?”
“Umm….about 28? I think.” he answered.
“Wow, and then filming for J.O.N.A.S. right?” The realization of just how busy the guys were finally sunk into Jane.
“That’s the plan. What do you want?” Kevin pointed to the cashier.
“Oh! Uh…chocolate please.” she told the cashier.
“Me too, and I’ll take the bill.” he pulled out his credit card and paid while everyone but Jane and Kevin sat down. Kevin grabbed their drinks and gave Jane hers. He held up two straws.
“Straight or bendy? Take your time, this is a big decision.” he said.
“Oooo your right. Bendy.” He handed it to her.
“You guys just go non-stop. Touring then filming.”
“And then touring again.” he added. “But we really do love it.” Kevin pulled out Jane’s chair for her to sit down.
“Thanks, yeah I would love to do what you guys do. The traveling, the fans, getting to be on stage every night.” Jane said as she sipped her shake.
“Then why don’t you?” Kevin asked earnestly.
“School, It’s my junior year, and I’m already looking at colleges.” she smiled. “Fame just doesn’t fit into my schedule I guess.”
“Couldn’t you do it during the summer?”
“There’s no way I could audition, get a part, and film in three months. But its not really a big deal. School is important and giving it all up to be a broke, starving, out of work singer just doesn’t seem worth it” she laughed. She turned her attention to the arm wrestle going on between Nick and Joe. As she started cheering Kevin started thinking. Maybe he could work something out.

Chapter 3
A week later Summer, Kelly, and Jane were at Starbucks.
“So any tests coming up soon for you Kelly?” Summer asked. Kelly was the youngest of the group in ninth grade, then Summer in tenth, and Jane was the oldest and in eleventh grade.
“Yeah a biology test. It’s gonna be soo hard. I wish Nick was here to help me study.” she said as she took a sip of her latte.
“Well you could call him.” Jane suggested.
“I can’t do that!” She protested.
“Why not? I talk to Joe sometimes.” Summer said.
“NO WAY!” Jane nearly dropped her frappe. “really? You didn’t tell me that!”
“Yeah,” Summer said slowly. “He texted me just yesterday actually. Why is that such a big deal? You don‘t tell us every time they call you.” she smiled. Jane could tell Summer was just as excited as she was.
“You know exactly why that is such a big deal!” Kelly cried.
“Yah, I kinda do.” Summer said sheepishly.
“So are you like dating him now?” Jane asked.
“No, not really. How about you Kelly.” Summer turned to her.
“No,” she shook her head, “ Not yet.” she raised her eyebrows. The girls erupted into giggles.
“I like this whole being friends first, there’s no pressure.” Jane pointed out. They all nodded. Summer looked over at a magazine rack.
“It’s weird seeing their faces on magazines though.” she said.
“Yeah,” Kelly agreed. “ What’s that one say?” Jane walked over, picked up the magazine, and brought it back to the table. As she began to read, her smile quickly began to fade.
“What is it?” Summer looked up worried. Jane hesitated but then began to read out loud. "Jonas Brothers are back in the dating game! The super cute stars were spotted on a double date with long-time rumored girlfriends Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovata last week. Nick sat next to Miley and Joe shared a booth with Demi. The super cute couples didn’t seem to bother the oldest Jonas who was flirting it up via cell phone with another one of their famous friends. When we called them up to ask about their latest crushes Kevin gave us this reply. “There are these girls we’re crushing and we’re taking it slow, but we’ll let you know where it goes! They‘re really great.” Sounds a lot like Miley and Demi! Let us know what you think about these bf’s and gf’s at superstar.com! "
Jane stopped reading and looked up at Summer and Kelly. Both of them looked crushed. Summer reached for the magazine, Jane tried to stop her. There were pictures. Summer stared at the photos of Miley and Nick hugging, Demi and Joe sharing a menu, and Kevin smiling as he talked on the phone. There were plenty more of Miley and Demi laughing and giggling. Jane was for the first time ever completely speechless. Kelly tried to be positive.
“Maybe, well, maybe it wasn’t really them.”
“Kelly, who else could it be? It’s them.” Summer looked angry. “ It was all just a game. They never really liked us,“ she got quiet “they never really liked me.”
Jane looked at the pictures. “This just doesn’t make sense. This isn’t something they would pull. I don’t get it. They’re too good for something like this.”
“Obviously not. I’m going home. Bye girls.” Summer grabbed her coffee and walked out the door. Jane looked up at Kelly.
“It’s just a magazine, rumors get started this way all the time. Right?” Kelly asked trying to find an explanation. Jane just sat there trying to piece it all together. Kelly stood up. “ I’m gonna go make sure she’s ok.” Jane nodded as Kelly walked out to try and find Summer. Jane continued to sit there. Kelly was right, it was probably just a rumor. But the pictures? And that stuff Kevin said? It was all really weird.

On the tour bus the guys were rehearsing when Nick‘s cell started to ring. He checked the I.D.
“Who is it?” Kevin asked.
“Miley,” Nick rolled his eyes.
“DON’T ANSWER!” Joe cried dramatically. “She’s probably with Demi, and I see enough of her.”
“Yeah, I think I‘ll deal with her later.” Nick set his phone down.
“Guys, be nice.” Kevin scolded.
“Sorry, but yo, that was really awkward last week. When they showed up at the restaurant.” Joe said.
“Yeah, it was like they couldn’t tell then was not the time.” Kevin agreed.
“Ha! You think that’s bad? Miley tried to hug me like eleven times.” Nick said.
“ooooo….rough.” Kevin said sympathetically. “Hey, have you guys talked to Kelly or Summer lately?”
“Uh, I texted with Summer for a while yesterday.” Joe answered.
“Yeah, Kelly called me Tuesday.” Nick said.
“Yeah, I wish we could tour with them instead.” Joe commented.
“Well why don’t all of them come up and be in Girl of My Dreams?” Kevin suggested. “We’re supposed to film it next weekend, right?”
“Yeah, let’s ask them.” Joe said. He couldn’t wait to see Summer again.
“Plus, if they don’t do it, Miley will want to.” Nick added.
“KEVIN, CALL JANE QUICK!” Joe cried dramatically, again. Kevin laughed.
“Calm down, I’m calling.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Jane was still sitting in Starbucks when her cell phone rang. She glanced at the caller I.D. Kevin. She took a deep breath and answered.
“Hello?”
“Hey Jane! It’s Kevin.”
“Oh, hey Kevin.”
“Is everything okay? You sound kinda mad.”
“Well actually, I wanted to talk to you about that. Summer is at her house crying, Kelly is trying to fix it, and I’m really confused.” Jane told him.
“Now I’m confused too. Is everything okay?” Kevin asked, worried.
“Well it looks like you guys have been busy. There was an article about you guys on a double date with Miley and Demi.”
“Jane, you know th-”
“There were pictures.” Jane cut him off.
“Ok, listen to me for just a second. I know your upset. See, Miley is really nice, really, but sometimes she can come on pretty strong. Especially with Nick, and Demi can be just as bad sometimes.”
“So why were you all on a date?”
“It was just us guys when they showed up, and went a little crazy. I had no idea we were being photographed, but I promise Joe and Nick are not like that. They were actually pretty uncomfortable the whole time.”
“So that’s how Joe really felt? Cause Summer was really upset.”
“Honestly? Joe is sorta sick of them, but what are you gonna do? We’re gonna be working with them for a while. And, like I said, they’re nice girls, they’re not like that all the time.” Jane was quiet. Kevin’s story made sense. They were all too nice to be mean to Miley and Demi. She remembered something about Kevin flirting with some chick on the phone. She hesitated.
“Kevin?”
“Yeah?”
“There was something about you talking to a girl on the phone most of the time. You kept smiling, apparently. Who was it?” Jane was surprised to hear Kevin laughing.
“That was my mom! I wasn’t talking to some girl, I promise! So, I see what it looked like, but it wasn’t. Do you trust me?”
“Yes.”
“And Nick and Joe are gonna kill me, but we guys like you too much to hurt you like that. You know that your our best friend. We would never deliberately do something like that.”
“Really?”
“Really.” Kevin said confidently. “Actually we like you so much I was calling to see if you wanted to be in our “Dreams” video?”
“Dreams? Oh, Girl of My Dreams. Yes! I love that song. That’d be great, but like I said, Summer is still really upset about all of this. She was worried this would happen so she didn’t let herself get attached and then she did and…”
“She’s angry at herself for letting Joe break her heart.” Kevin finished her sentence.
“Yeah.” Jane sighed. Kevin thought for a moment.
“Jane?” he asked.
“What?”
“How does Kelly feel about it?”
“She thinks it was a misunderstanding. She trusts you guys, plus, she isn’t as attached as Summer was.”
“Right, ok, well I have a plan.”
“Ok…” Jane said, waiting for him to elaborate.
“Tell Kelly to help you get Summer to the studio next weekend. I’ll take care of everything.”
“Ok, where are you guys filming?”
“New York.”
“NEW YORK?!? How are we supposed to get to New York?” Jane asked.
“Since you guys are now officially part of the cast, production will pay for everything, airfare included.”
“Shut up!” Jane shouted, excited.
“First class.”
“Ahhhhhhhhhhh!….Kevin! That’s awesome! We’ll be there!” Jane couldn’t believe it.
“Ok, I’ll meet you at the airport Friday afternoon.”
“Great! Hey, what about the tour?” Jane asked.
“Oh, we’re doing shows everyday that week, the studio is like ten minutes from the venue. It’s not a first rate studio but….”
“Kevin, I can’t wait.” Jane smiled to herself. After only a week and a half she would get to see Kevin again. On the other side of the line Kevin took a deep breath.
“Hey ummm….when you guys come up, would you like to go to dinner? Just us?” Jane was quite. She hadn’t expected this. She liked Kevin a lot, he was so thoughtful and sweet and…
“Yes. I would love that.” She answered aloud.
“Great!” Kevin sighed with relief. Jane looked at the clock. She had to get her school work done.
“Hey Kevin, I wish I could keep talking, but I really have to do homework”
“That’s fine, I’ll talk to you later. Bye Jane.”
“Bye Kevin.” he hung up and explained the plan to Joe and Nick on the bus. They both felt bad about it, but they couldn’t wait to see the girls again. Summer didn’t talk about the guys and Kelly and Jane didn’t bring it up. Secretly, Kelly couldn’t wait. She and Jane knew it would be the best surprise ever. But they didn’t count on one thing.

“Miley Cyrus Everybody!” Kevin shouted to the crowd as he, Nick, and Joe ran off and she ran on. As Miley began her first song, Kevin grabbed his phone and texted Jane, Asking if they were all ready to go. It was Thursday night, and their flight left at 6:30 the next morning. Five minutes later Kevin received Jane’s reply. She said it had taken a lot of persuasion but Summer had finally agreed to come on a girl’s-night-out weekend, which was their cover story. She was still bummed.
“I cannot wait to see the girls.” Nick said as Miley started the next song.
“Yeah, I just hope Summer will talk to me,” Joe said quietly. “I mean I would be upset if I saw pictures like that.”
“Relax it’ll be fine!” Kevin said encouragingly.
“Your just happy Jane’s coming” Nick said under his breath.

Back at Jane’s house Kelly and Summer were sitting on Jane’s bed watching her pack.
“So what are we gonna do this weekend?” Summer asked. She really hoped it would be a great time to get her mind of certain things….and certain people.
“Shopping, Movies, Food, Shopping.” Jane answered. “It’s gonna be great!”
“It would be great if you would tell me where we are going,” Summer commented.
“Trust us, you’ll love it!” Kelly smiled. “Your mom already knows.”
“You told my mom, but not me?” Summer laughed. “Now I have to know!”
“We’ll take care of you, don’t worry.” Jane smiled.
“Are we driving?” Summer asked.
“Ummm…we’re driving to a place. Yeah” Kelly shrugged her shoulders at Jane while Summer inspected her suitcase.
“What should I bring?”
“Uh, I packed three casual outfits and a dressy one, just in case.” Jane said.
“Okay, I’ll go home and pack.” Summer said, standing up.
“Alright, get some sleep, we’re picking you up at 5:30 tomorrow.”
“A.M.?” Summer complained as she gathered her stuff.
“You bet. Bye Summer.” Jane waved as Summer left Jane’s room.
“Bye girls!” she called back. Once she was out the door Kelly stared Jane down.
“What’s with the dressy outfit? You said the studio would get us clothes for the shoot, what’s up?”
“I don’t know what your talking about.” Jane said innocently, as she folded a shirt.
“Oh, don’t even try that missy, spill.” Kelly insisted.
“Well…” Jane smiled. ‘Kevin asked me out to dinner, just the two of us.”
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Jane this is huge!!!” Kelly squealed.
“It’s just dinner Kelly, don’t freak out.” Jane attempted to calm her down.
“Dinner. In New York. With Kevin Jonas!?!?”
“Yeah….” Jane broke into a grin. “Your right!” They erupted into giggles.
“Ok, I’m gonna go home now!” Kelly said as she grabbed her Vera Bradley purse. “See ya tomorrow!”
“Alright! Bye Kelly.” Jane hugged her.
An hour later Jane was in bed, when her cell phone lit up with the new text icon. She rolled over and checked it. It was from Kevin.
“good night”
Jane smiled, replied, and went to sleep.

“night” was what the text from Jane had said. Kevin looked at his phone, he had the perfect evening planned for Jane Friday night. It was gonna be great. He turned off his phone and fell asleep.

The next morning the girls were in the car.
“Excited?” Jane asked Summer and Kelly.
“YES!” they said at the same time, but for different reasons.
“So how far a drive do we have?” Summer asked peering over the back seat.
“Oh, Kelly what would you say? Fifteen minutes?” Jane said.
“ More like ten.” Kelly smiled.
“Ten Minutes? I packed three suitcases for us to go ten minutes away?” Summer cried.
“You packed three suitcases?” Jane looked over at Summer.
“Yes,” Summer said guiltily “but that doesn’t matter! What’s going on?” Summer continued to try and piece it all together until they pulled into the airport parking lot.
“Kelly you were wrong, we were on the road,” Jane checked her watch “ Exactly thirteen minutes.”
“Jane, what’s going on? Where-”
“Just pick up your stuff, our flight leaves at 6:30.” Jane cut Summer off. She smiled over at Kelly.
“Where are we going?” Summer was exasperated. “Where are we flying, where did you get the money?”
Kelly and Jane looked at each other and smiled.
“New York!” They said at the same time.
“As in New York City? No way! Your kidding! You’ve got to be kidding.” She stared at them, waiting for them to tell them where they really were going.
“Nope, first class flight to New York City, and we really have to hurry.” They all picked up their luggage and carried it inside.
“First class? But how did you-”
“We’ll explain on the plane.” Jane said.
Finally they were all settled in their seats. Summer turned to Jane.
“Ok. explain. now. Everything.”
“Well, we’re going to New York to be in a music video.”
Summer laughed. “Funny, now really what are we doing?”
“No, really we’re going to be in a music video,”
Summer smile was replaced by a confused face. “What? Whose? Oh, no not-”
“The Jonas’.” She and Jane said at the same time. Summer groaned.
“Jane, why? After what they did?”
“Summer, listen, ok? Kevin insisted that Miley and Demi are basically flirts, none of them knew they were being photographed. He promised me that they’d never do something like that.” Jane looked up at Summer to see if she was listening. “And I believe him.” she finished. Summer looked down. “And Kevin called to invite us to be in one of their videos. All three of them feel terrible.”
“But why didn’t they call me themselves to explain?’ Summer asked.
“Because none of them knew there were pictures until I told them and we all decided to keep it a secret until you were on the plane.”
“Why?”
“We were afraid you wouldn’t forgive Joe.” Jane explained. “Those guys really like you Summer.” She looked her in the eye. There was a silent pause.
“what song?” Summer asked quietly.
“Huh?” Jane asked.
“So what song are we gonna be in?” she repeated.
Jane and Kelly squealed.
“Does this mean you’ll do it?” Kelly asked, poking her head out from behind Summer‘s seat.
“I might as well, since they didn’t do anything wrong.” Summer said.
“Yay!!!!!!!!” Jane and Kelly hugged her at the same time.
“Shhhhh!” the girls looked up to see the flight attendant staring them down.
“Sorry.” Jane apologized. She turned to Summer. “But, we’re gonna be in the Girl of My Dreams video.” Summer stared at Jane open-mouthed.
“I love that song!”
“I know.” Jane said grinning.
They talked about the upcoming weekend the whole flight. Jane told Summer that Kevin had asked her out. Summer was very excited for her. When they were a half-hour away from New York Jane texted Kevin:
“summer’s in. we’ll be there soon. can’t wait!”
He replied instantly:
“k, meet me at luggage claim, c u there J .”
When they landed the girls hurried to luggage claim. Jane searched the large crowd of people for Kevin.
“JANE! OVER HERE!”
Jane looked up to see Kevin waving anxiously from the other side of the room.
“Kevin!” she cried when she reached him. He wrapped her up in a hug. When he let her go he hugged Summer and Kelly.
“Hey girls!” He greeted them. “It’s great to see you, and I’m really sorry, we didn’t mean to upset you, really.” He looked really apologetic.
“We know.” Kelly told him. Summer smiled at him. She then noticed Rob standing behind Kevin.
“Big Rob!” her smiled broadened.
“Hey girl! How you doin?” he asked as he gave her a high five.
“Awesome.” Summer told him.
The guys grabbed their stuff and carried it outside to the limo. Kevin held the door open for the girls.
“To the studio!” He cried. Once they were all in the car he explained the days schedule to the girls. “Okay, you have costume fittings, then hair, then make-up,” he took a breath “,and then we’ll shoot a little bit today, and all day tomorrow.” he finished.
“Wow, sounds like fun!” Kelly grinned.
“Yeah, I’m sorry to throw you into this, thanks again for doing this.” Kevin said.
“Are you kidding? We can’t wait!” Jane told him.
“Well, I’m glad, oh, and we get an hour for lunch once we get there.” he told her. As they started talking, Kelly turned to Summer.
“So you excited?” she asked her.
“I guess, I feel bad for not trusting Joe, and I get nervous every time I see him anyway and…” Kelly interrupted her.
“Relax! This is supposed to be fun!” She smiled encouragingly at Summer, “And Joe totally likes you.” she added. Summer smiled in spite of herself.
“You think?”
“Of course!”
“We’re here!” Kevin said as they pulled into the studio parking lot. He got out and opened the door for the girls.
“Leave your stuff in the car, We’ll get it later.” He told them. “Come on, I’ll show you your trailers.” He led them to the other side of the parking lot where there were nine or ten trailers. He walked up to three of them, each one had one of the girls’ name on the front.
“We get our own trailers!?!” Kelly shouted.
“Yeah, check ‘em out!” Kevin handed out keys, “I’ll go get Joe and Nick. All three girls walked into their trailers. Each had a sofa, a lamp, a TV, a vanity, and a mini fridge. The walls were an identical shade of beige. Jane walked into Summer’s trailer after inspecting her own.
“Pretty sweet, huh?” Jane asked Summer as she sat down on her sofa. She glanced over at the coffee table to see a bouquet of flowers. She turned to Summer.
“Their from Joe,” Summer said before Jane could ask.
“Their gorgeous.” Jane said.
“Read the note.” Summer directed. Jane opened up the card attached to them and read it aloud.
“Summer, I’m so sorry for upsetting you. I’ve really missed you and I hope you have a great weekend here. Love Joe,” Jane finished. She looked up to see Summer blushing, “Awwww…, that’s so sweet!” she said.
“I know! Maybe this weekend will be less awkward than I thought.” Summer commented. Just then Kelly rushed in.
“Wow! Yours is cool too!” Isn’t this great?” She smiled. “Woah! Who are the flowers from?”
“Joe!” Jane informed her. “Isn’t that so sweet?’
“Yes!” Kelly gushed. “Summer, their beautiful!”
All three girls looked up when there was a knock on the door. Summer got up and opened it. It was Joe.
“Hi,” she said, looking down.
“Hey,” he said.
They both started talking at the same time.
“About this whole Demi-Miley thing,” Joe began as Summer said
“Joe, I totally overreacted when I found out and…” they both stopped and started laughing. Joe hugged her.
“Are we good?” he asked right before he released her.
“Yeah,” Summer nodded. “Oh, and thanks for the flowers, they’re beautiful.”
“Glad, you liked them.”
“AWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!” Jane and Kelly cried at the same time.
“That was the sweetest moment I’ve seen all week!” Kelly said as everyone laughed again.
“Come on, let’s go, Nick and Kevin are waiting at the catering tent.” They all headed to a giant white tent. When they got there, Jane saw that there was lots of food laid out buffet style and Nick and Kevin were sitting at a nearby table. Joe grabbed a plate and handed it to Summer.
“The food here is awesome!” he told her. Once they had all gotten their food they went over to the guys. Nick stood up and gave them all hugs.
“Hey guys! It’s great to see you” he said.
“Hey Nick!” Jane smiled.
“Here, guys, sit down,” Kevin said. Jane sat in-between Kevin and Nick, Kelly sat on the other side of Nick and Summer sat next to Joe.
“Thanks for doing this on such short notice.” Nick said as they all started eating.
“No problem, I have been looking forward to this all week.” Jane told him.
“Wow, this food is really good!” Kelly commented.
“Oh, we know.” Nick said pointing to his plate filled with food.

An hour later the guys took the girls over to the costume trailer and introduced them to Carly and Nicki, the costume designers.
“We have an interview, but we’ll be back in an hour and a half,” Kevin said. “Have fun!” he called as he, Nick, and Joe left the trailer.
“So are we gonna be dressed like elves or candy canes or something?” Summer asked Carly and Nicki.
Carly laughed. “Not quite.”
“We picked out several outfits, and you guys can pick your favorites.” Nicki said as she pulled back a petition so the girls could see the the other half of the trailer filled with stylish clothes.
“AHHHHHHHHHHH!” Kelly screamed. Everyone laughed.
“Obviously these aren’t for Kevin, Nick, and Joe, so whatever you end up using you can keep.” Nicki said. This time it was all three of them who screamed.
“Shall we get started?” Carly asked. Jane, Summer, and Kelly grinned.
“Oh, yeah.”
An hour and several outfit changes later the girls had each picked out their favorite outfits. Kelly had gone for bold colors and cute prints, Summer had on a cute hoodie and converses, and Jane was wearing her classic flirty look. Carly and Nicki stepped back to admire their work.
“You girls look great.” Nicki said.
“Very cute” Carly added. “Now all we have to do is accessorize and then we can send you to hair and make-up.” she said as she hung a rejected jacket.
“Great!” Kelly said, as she looked at her reflection. When the girls were finished there was a knock on the door. A woman with a headset on came in.
“Hey Carly, Hey Nicki!” she greeted them. She looked at the girls. “The boys’ interview is running late, so I’m gonna take you to hair and make-up.”
“Okay,” Jane replied, she turned to Carly and Nicki, “Thank you so much!” she said as she hugged them.
“No problem, have fun at the shoot!“ Carly replied.
“We will,“ Kelly assured her. After she and Summer thanked them, they followed the woman out of the trailer. She showed them the trailer and started walking away.
“I’ll come and get you in forty-five minutes!” She called. “have fun!”
Once the girls had been in hair and make-up for about thirty minutes Kevin called.
Jane picked up her cell.
“Hello?”
“Hey, sorry our interview ran late.”
“No problem, Carly and Nicki were great.”
“yeah, they are really cool, but, just so you know were headed back to the set and well see you in like twenty minutes.”
“Okay, cool. See ya soon!”
“Bye Jane!”
“Bye!” Kevin heard her hang up the phone. Twenty minutes later they pulled into the set parking lot. As soon as they stepped out of the car they heard someone calling for them.
“KEVIN! JOE! NICK! HI!”
Nick turned around, “ Oh no.” he groaned.
“What?” Kevin spun around to see Miley bounding towards them. “Oh.” he said quietly. “ Hey Miley.” he greeted her as she reached them. She brushed past him and gave Nick a hug. “Oh, hey Kevin, so how are you Nick?”
“Um, good.” Nick shook the hair out of his eyes.
“So, uh, watcha doin here?” Joe asked. Kevin shot him a look. What? Joe innocently mouthed back.
“Well I knew you guys were filming the video so I figured I’d stop by, ya know, for moral support.” She smiled anxiously at them.
“Oh, well um, we were about to go shoot now, so…umm..we gotta go.” Nick said as he took a step back.
“Well, I’ll come watch! You guys don’t mind do you?”
“Well I don’t know if-” Kevin started to talk as Jane walked up.
" Hey Kevin, how'd the interview-" she stopped as soon as she saw Miley's hand on Nick's waist. She pulled her eyes away to look at Kevin. "um..interview, right, how'd it go?"
“Hey Jane! Great! We were just coming to get you, Miley just stopped by to say hello.” Kevin said, silently hoping Jane would understand. “I guess we’d better go now.”
“Oh, but you have to introduce me first!” Miley insisted. She extended her hand to Jane, “Miley Cyrus.” Jane shook it. “Jane Levenson” She smiled at Miley. There was an awkward pause until Jane spoke up, “Well I would just love to stay and chat, but I have to go find Kelly and Summer.” she took one last look at Kevin and turned to walk away.
“Jane! Wait, I’ll come with you.” Kevin followed her.
“Yeah, we better go too.” Joe said to Miley.
“Thanks for stopping by!” Nick called over his shoulder as he and Joe caught up with Kevin and Jane. Miley stood there for a second then called out, “Bye Guys!” and walked away. Once she was back in her car and had driven away Kevin stopped Jane.
“I am so sorry, she just stopped by and-”
“It’s cool, I trust you three.” she told him.
“Did Summer see?” Joe asked.
“Nope, but boy oh boy, that was awkward.” Jane half-smiled, “Nick, she was all over you.”
“yeah, its kinda annoying,” he said quietly.
“yeah, I bet.” she laughed. She remembered Summer and Kelly. “Hey guys, I’m gonna go get the girls. Meet you on set?” she asked as she started walking toward the trailers.
“Great.” Kevin agreed as he and the boys headed toward the main building. When Jane reached the trailer the door flew open.
“Jane! You will never guess who’s here!” Kelly cried. Summer stuck her head out the door. “It’s Miley!” Jane stepped inside.
“You saw, huh?” she said as she plopped down on the couch.
“Yeah, I thought you said they didn’t like her.” Summer said, demanding further explanation.
“They don’t, calm down, she showed up and she was only with them for less than five minutes.” She looked up at them. Summer still looked skeptical, but Kelly sat down next to Jane.
“Well, I trust them.” She and Jane looked up at Summer waiting for a reply.
“Ok, so do I.”
“Yay!” Jane cried, as she pulled Kelly off the couch, “to the set we go!”
The three of them walked arm and arm to the studio.
“There you are!” Kevin greeted them. “We were just about to come find you.”
“You guys ready?” Nick asked.
“Yep, just tell us what to do!” Jane said.
“Well you see, we have a few ideas….”Joe began.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Three hours later everyone felt good about what they’d done.
“Great job girls!” the director called after them as they walked off set.
“Thanks!” Kelly said. She turned to Joe, “This is gonna look so good.”
“Definitely.” he agreed. Kevin pulled Jane aside.
“I’ll pick you up at your trailer in 45 minutes, sound good?”
“Perfect!” she smiled. She had to suppress a giggle as she walked toward her trailer. This was gonna be great.
“What are you smiling about?”
Jane turned to see Nicki walking beside her.
“Oh, nothing, I’m just excited about this thing I have tonight.” She replied.
“You mean your date with Kevin.”
Jane looked up in slightly embarrassed shock.
“How did you know?”
“Kevin might have mentioned a couple times.” Nicki smiled.
“Oh,” Jane blushed as she looked down.
“What are you gonna wear?” Nick asked as they stopped in front of the wardrobe trailer.
“Well, I packed only one dress, but I kind of wish I had something else. But its no big deal.”
“What if I helped you out?” Nicki asked.
“You mean…?”Jane stared in disbelief.
“Let’s see what I have.” Nicki said as she pulled Jane into the trailer.
Thirty minutes later Jane looked in the mirror. She and Nicki had picked out a cute tank and swing jacket with skinny jeans and flats. Jane turned to Nicki and gave her a tight hug.
“Thank you so much!” Jane said.
“Your welcome sweetheart. Have fun.”
Jane gathered her stuff and headed to the door.
“Oh, I’m sure I will.” Jane went back to her trailer and fixed her hair and make-up. She was putting in her earrings when there was a knock. She anxiously opened it to see Kevin holding a bouquet of pink roses.
“Aww, Kevin! Thank you!” She gave him a one arm hug as she took the flowers. “Let me get these in water really quickly.” She walked over to the sink as Kevin took a seat on the couch. “So where are we going?” she asked.
“I was thinking about Nancy’s, near the bookstore on 5th?”
“I have no idea where that is, I’ve never been to New York.”
Kevin stared at her. “I totally didn’t know that! Oh, Jane, you are gonna love this place.”
“Ok, I’ll take your word.” Jane said as she placed the flowers on the coffee table. “Ready?” she asked as she grabbed her purse. Kevin opened the door for her.
“Let’s go!”

In Joe’s trailer, Nick and Kelly were on the couch and Joe and Summer were sitting on the floor leaned up against the coffee table. Joe punched his fist in the air.
“That’s three rounds I’ve beaten you guys!” Summer rolled her eyes.
“You are so cocky.” she said as she turned to Kelly.
“Ok, so wait, the “a” button is attack right?” she asked as she fiddled with her controllers.
“No, the “b” button is attack, “a” is defense.” Nick said, pointing out the buttons,
“Ohhhhh” Kelly said. Joe stood up. “I’m gonna order pizza. Suggestions?”
“Spinach!” Kelly and Nick said at the same time.
“Whoa, weird.” Summer said laughing.
“Well it’s the only the best topping ever!” Kelly cried.
“I totally agree! High-five!” Nick said. He held up his hand. They high-fived as Joe grabbed his phone.
“Ok so a large pepperoni and a small spinach?” he turned to the group.
“Medium spinach.” Kelly corrected him.
“Better idea,” Nick stood up. “we’re in New York, let’s go get pizza. You know that place on third?
“Yeah, good idea.” Joe agreed, “Have you guys ever had New York Pizza?”
“Umm…no.” Summer admitted.
“Well, lets go, because you are gonna love it. I’ll go ask Big Rob if we can use the limo.” Joe called as he left the trailer.

“Ok, wow.” Jane said after she had taken a bite of her pasta. “This is really good.”
“I know, Nancy’s is awesome right?” Kevin said. Jane looked around. It was a really cute little resturant. They were outside sitting at one of the tables on the sidewalk. There were little lights hanging on the awning, and it had just gotten dark. The streets were crowded with people shopping and walking. She turned her attention back to Kevin.
“So, whats Wycoff like?” she asked.
“Its so great. There’s this really cool park like five minutes from our house where Joe goes running. It was a lot of fun in the winter, snow everywhere.”
“Hmm.. snow, I wish we got that more often.” Jane said.
“It doesn’t snow in North Carolina?” Kevin asked. He sounded confused. Jane shook her head.
“No snow, just lots of ice. Have you ever tried to have a fight with ice? It hurts.” Jane said. Kevin laughed. “I’m sure.”
“Don’t laugh! I’m serious! I had some major bruises.” Jane cried. Kevin smiled at her. “I’m sorry.” he took another sip of his drink. “Well in about a month and a half it’ll be really snowy in New Jersey. You should come.” Jane looked at him for a second. “But what about, you know, your job. Apparently your in high demand.” Kevin smiled again. Jane felt herself nearly melt. She looked down so he couldn’t see her blush.
“Well January 9th is our last show, and we get like four days off before filming for J.O.N.A.S. starts. We were thinking about spending a few days at home. It would be really great if you could come.” Jane could see the excitement in his eyes, then he looked down. “If, you know, you wanted too.”
“Of course I want too! A break will be nice.” she twirled her pasta, “I still can’t believe your this busy.” she laughed, “my life is so boring.”
“Sorry again. But if it makes you feel better, we may be busy, but being with you is the most fun we have. That, and watching the NYPD getting bum-rushed by hundreds of our fans.” He smiled as Jane laughed.
“Yeah, that would have been a cool moment for me too.” Jane said, she looked around again, “You know, I almost expected us to be like attacked by screaming girls or something.”
“Ha, nope. No crazy fans tonight. Typically people leave us alone. Every once in a while we get asked for an autograph or something.”
“Well here’s your chance.” Jane nodded to a little girl behind him. She looked to be eight or nine.
“Hi!” Kevin said.
“Hi, are you Kevin? Jonas?” she asked shyly.
“yep.”
“Can I have your autograph?” she asked. Kevin smiled and winked at Jane. “Sure, what’s your name?”
“Samantha.” she said as she handed him a notebook and purple pen.
“Alright,” he signed it. He handed it to her, “there you go!”
“Thanks,” she said as she took it, “Will you tell Nick and Joe I said hello?”
“Yep!” he smiled. Her face lit up.
“Thank you!” she said as she rushed back inside after he gave her a hug.
“Awwwww…..she is so adorable!” Jane gushed.

“Isn’t pizza better in New York?” Joe asked Summer.
“Mmmhm.” Summer nodded as she took another bite.
“Do you want that?” Nick said pointing at Kelly’s unfinished crust.
“Yes! And you can’t have it!” Kelly laughed.
“I thought I would try!” Nick said. He tried to grab it but Kelly got it first.
“Stop!” she giggled.
“So what now? Back to the set?” Summer asked.
“Well is your stuff still in the limo?” Joe asked. Kelly looked at Summer.
“I think so.” she answered.
“Ok, well lets get it to the hotel and then play it by ear from there,” Joe said.
“Alright, just let me finish.” Kelly said.
“I’ll help you,” Nick said, reaching for her food.
“NO!”

“Can I interest you in some desert?” The waitress asked Kevin and Jane.
“Yeah, actually-”
“Woah!” Jane blinked. Kevin looked up alarmed. A flash had just gone off. Jane heard people start to whisper.
“Is that Kevin Jonas?” “Where’s Nick? I want to see Nick!” “Who’s she?”
“Kevin! Kevin!” Both of them saw the huge group of people congregating on the sidewalk. A man at a table behind them pulled a camera out from under his table and started taking more pictures. Jane looked up at Kevin. He looked back for a second. Then he stood up.
“I’m so sorry, Let’s go!” he slapped some money on the table and grabbed her hand. The flashes continued as they ran inside the resturant. The girls’ screams got louder. “Kevin! Kevin! Where’s Joe?” He quickly walked up to a waitress.
“Excuse me, is there a back door?” he asked anxiously. She looked outside and realized what was going on.
“Yes sir, right over here.” She walked back into the kitchen and pointed them in the direction of the door. “Just walk down that way and eventually you’ll end up at the parking lot.” She pointed.
“Thank you!” Kevin called behind him as he pulled Jane out the door. Once they were outside, he stopped. “I am so sorry, I-” He turned to Jane. To his surprise she was laughing.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” she said to him as she caught her breath. “I just think this is so funny.”
“Really?” he asked, “I had planned on a nice night and-” She interrupted him.
“Kevin, we have had a nice night, and it’s only like nine.” Kevin looked at her.
“You really have had fun?”
“Yes! I’m having a blast!” she paused, “being with you is always fun!”
“Aww…come here.” He pulled her into a hug. She rested her head on his shoulder. They heard the screams of the now-desperate fans.
“We gotta get out of here.” Jane said, though secretly she didn’t want the hug to end.
“Not so fast,” he pulled her closer, “I’m not done hugging you.”
“Ok,” she laughed. She latched on tighter. Eventually he let go.
“We probably should get going.” he said.
“Your right.” she agreed. He led her out to the back of the parking lot. They quickly got in his jeep.
“Safe!” Jane cried as Kevin pulled out of the lot.
“Traffic is gonna be bad.” Kevin pointed out. Jane pulled on her seat belt.
“So, tell me about Frankie and your parents.” she said.
“Well you see……” Kevin began.

“O MY GOSH!” Kelly screamed. Nick and Joe dropped the girls’ luggage on the ground.
“So you like the room huh?” Joe smiled. Summer sat down on one of the sofas in the huge suite. There were three couches around a huge television. In there were was a small kitchen. Kelly was standing in the bathroom looking at all the space. Summer got up and looked into one of the bedrooms.
“Queen. Nice” she commented.
“All of your rooms ajoin.” Nick said. “This is the main room. And us guys are on the top floor.” Joe looked over at Summer and Kelly’s expressions. “You gotta love it when production pays.” he said.
“Uh-huh,” Kelly nodded in agreement.
“So you guys wanna finish that game?” Nick asked.
“Of course!” Summer said as she picked up her purse. Joe pulled the door shut as they headed out of the room. They walked out of the hotel. Nick held open the door for them as he started to talk to Kelly. “So when we were in this hotel last year, Kevin found the slippers and-”

“Well, this is not what I expected.” Kevin said. He and Jane were sitting at a picnic table at an old style ice-cream parlor. It was about an hour outside of New York, and even though it was practically empty they had sat as far away as possible. They were facing a giant field with woods on the left.
“This ice cream is awesome.” Kevin said. They had both opted for Rocky Road.
“Yeah, and so are those stars.” Jane commented as she glanced at the sky. There were lots of stars since there weren’t any bright lights like in the city.
“It feels a lot like home.”
Jane studied Kevin’s face. “You really miss New Jersey don’t you?” she asked.
“Yeah,” he said as he continued to look at the sky, “I mean there are days when I love getting on the bus and driving somewhere new and different. And days where I really wanna just stay put. That’s why I love weekends like this, where we only have a shoot or two. Its just nice when things slow down for a bit. We don’t get another weekend like this for a while.” Jane was quiet. She knew she had lucked out seeing Kevin twice in two weeks. A long-distance relationship would be really hard and she knew it. She looked up at Kevin.
“Do you think we could make this work? I mean with you working, and me in North Carolina?”
“Yeah,” he said confidently, “I do. It’ll be hard, but its possible. And when the tour is over I can take more weekends off.”
“But, I live in North Carolina. Which is on the east coast. far away.” She used her hands to illustrate the distance. He rolled his eyes at her.
“And you don’t think I would fly anywhere for you?” he asked, “I’m hurt.” he smiled and put his arm around her. “We can make it work. Plus if you lived in L.A. you would get zero privacy. After those pictures tonight, popstar will probably pronounced us married.” Jane laughed. “They do tend to exaggerate don’t they?” she said. She posed, “what do you think? Am I magazine material?”
“Front page!” he smiled. She laughed. Soon they both got quiet again.
“You leave tomorrow right after we finish shooting don’t you?” she asked quietly.
“Yeah, your plane leaves at six tomorrow night, and our tour bus leaves like an hour later.”
“wow.”
“yeah.” he stood up, “well we better get back. I hope they got your stuff in the hotel.” He helped her up and they walked to the jeep. As they were starting back to the hotel, Kevin handed Jane his phone. “Here, call one of the girls.“
“Ok,” Jane said as she dialed Kelly’s cell.
“Hello?” Kelly answered. Jane heard Nick’s excited yells in the backround.
“Hey, It’s Jane. What are you guys doing?”
“Well we’re playing Total Destruction 2” she said, “Oh no wait, Joe just said it’s Total Destruction 3. We already took our stuff to the hotel though. It’s amazing!”
“I bet!” Jane replied, “Listen, Kevin and I will be at the hotel in an hour.”
“Ok, we’ll meet you there. How’s your date going?” Kelly asked.
“Pretty good. We had to hide from crazed fans. I’ll tell you later.”
“You better!”
“Ok, well go back to your little game, and we’ll see you soon.”
“Alright, I want all the details.”
“Fine, bye Kelly.”
“Bye!”

An hour and a half later Jane and Kevin were in the elevator of the hotel.
“You girls are on the fourth floor, and we’re on the top.” Kevin was telling her. As the doors opened they heard a scream. They froze for a second then they realized.
“Kelly.”
Kevin took off running, Jane behind him. They ran into the girls’ room. There were clothes strewn everywhere, their suitcases were all opened. It looked like someone had gone through all their stuff. Jane covered her mouth with her hands. Kevin spoke first.
“Wha-what happened?” Jane looked over at Kelly who was sitting on the sofa looking scared. Joe quietly took Summer’s hand. He gently squeezed it then turned to Jane.
“We walked in here with the door opened, the girls’ stuff everywhere.” he said as he shook his head. They all looked up as Big Rob came out of one of the bedrooms.
“That’s the last room, whoever was here, left.” he said, “I’m gonna go make some calls. Did you lock the door when you left?” He looked over at Nick. Joe quickly spoke up.
“No, it was me. I thought I closed it. I’m so sorry.” He looked embarrassed. Summer rubbed his shoulder.
“It’s okay, it was an accident.” she comforted him.
“She’s right,” Jane said, “Nothing was stolen. Everything valuable was in our purses.” Summer nodded. “I’m just glad we weren’t here.” she added.
“Well we’ll stay here until Big Rob gets back,” Kevin said. “I’ll get some coffee going.” He headed to the small kitchenette. Summer and Jane began to clean up the mess. Joe and Nick sat down to help. Jane glanced at Kelly then turned to Nick.
“Hey, would you make sure Kelly is okay?” she whispered. He nodded and got up.
“Hey Kelly.” he said as he sat down next to her. “You look a little shaken. You want to go get some air?” She looked up at him.
“Yeah,” she said, “I need to show you something.” They left the room and got on the elevator. “Where are we going?” Kelly asked.
“The roof.” he replied. Once they got up to the top, they climbed a staircase and Nick opened the door. Kelly sat down against a wall, and Nick sat next to her.
“So what did you need to show me?” he asked. She hesitated.
“Well…..this.” she handed him her phone. He read the text and looked up at her worried face.
“When did you get this?”
“Well it was sent about an hour and a half ago, but I just read it.”
“Oh, Kelly, you’ll be fine.” he said. He gave her a hug. “Big Rob will take care of you. He always takes care of us.” he smiled at her. She didn’t look reassured. “But what if whoever sent it was in our room?” she asked.
“Well Rob said you’re moving rooms, they won’t know where you are.” They were both quiet for a couple minutes.
“Has anything like this ever happened to you before” Kelly looked up at Nick.
“No,” he answered. “No one has ever broken into our room. But stop worrying!” he thought for a minute. “So what’s on your schedule this week?” he asked.
“Well I have a test on Thursday…”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
“Okay, we’re all packed.” Jane told Rob.
“Alright,” he said, “your new rooms are on the second floor. The hotel is letting us have them for free. They’ll be a security guard in the room across the hall. Sound good?” he asked. The girls nodded. “Great,” Summer said.
“Where’s Nick and Kelly?” Kevin asked, “They’ve been gone for like 45 minutes.”
“I’ll go look,” Summer volunteered. “I’ll come too” Joe stood up. They started searching the hotel. After they had looked for a couple minutes Joe ran his hand through his hair, “ Well how about we check the roof?” he suggested. Summer nodded, “Yeah, maybe.” She followed him to the elevator. Once they reached the top he opened the door for her. As soon as he did they heard Kelly laughing.
“Nick that is so funny!”
“Joe did it too! It was awesome!” Nick’s voice answered. Summer turned to Joe to see him smiling, “I’ll tell you that story another time,” he said. She smiled, “Ok.” They stepped out so Nick and Kelly could see them.
“Hey!” Summer said. Kelly screamed. “Ahhhh!!!!!!! You guys scared me!”
“Sorry,” Joe said, “Looks like you two are having fun.”
“Yeah we are!” Kelly said.
“Well its 11:30, I think its time for bed. Its been a long day, and tomorrow is going to be too.” Summer said.
“Yeah, your right,” Nick said. He stood up and then turned back around to help Kelly up. Once they had gotten back to the room. Nick tapped Kelly’s elbow, he nodded toward her pocket. “You better show Rob the text.” he said quietly. Kelly nodded.
“Yeah, I should.”
“What text?” Summer asked.
“Well…” Kelly held up her phone to Summer. After a second she looked up at Kelly.
“Kelly, omygosh. You’ve got to show him.” They opened the door to see Rob, Kevin, and Jane putting their bags on a luggage cart. Kevin looked up first.
“Hey, your back!” he smiledn
“Yeah, uh, Rob, I need you to look at this.” she handed him her cell phone. IN glowing letters it read, If u think u have a chance then u will b disappointed. If u wanna play, fine, just kno that I’ll win. At the bottom of the message was a picture of Nick and Kelly at the pizza place from earlier and one of them walking into the hotel.
“This means whoever took this picture probably followed you to the hotel,” Jane reasoned, “ But I don’t get it, Rob was there, how could he not have seen someone following you?” Jane asked. She glanced at Kelly. Rob spoke up, “Do you know who sent this?” he asked her.
“It says private number.” Kelly said. Rob took a deep breath then spoke, “Okay, well we need to get you girls out of here. Let’s go to your new room.” he grabbed the luggage cart and pushed it out the door. Kevin put his hand on Jane’s back and the boys led them out of the room. Once they were on the second floor at their new room a large man walked in. Rob gave him a high five. “Ladies,” he said, “This is Tyler, he’ll be across the hall. Let him know if anything happens,” he looked at Kelly, “texts included.”
“Got it.” Kelly said.
“Great,” Tyler said, “Hey Rob, can you come outside real quick? I have a question.” The two men left the room.
“Do you girls need anything?” Kevin asked.
“I think we’re good, thank you so much guys.” She gave them all hugs. After she hugged Kevin she looked up at him, “Thanks for dinner.” she smiled. “Anytime,” he replied. Joe took a step towards the door.
“Just let us know if you need something,” Joe said, “We’ll be here at 6:30 to leave for the set.”
“So, so early.” Jane sighed.
“I know, bye girls!” Kevin and Joe waved as they walked out. Nick pulled Kelly aside. “You gonna be okay?” he asked. “Uh-huh.” she said, she gave him a hug. “Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.” He stepped back. “Okay, well, call if you need anything.” she smiled. “Okay.” After he left she walked into Summer’s room where she and Jane were.
“Wow, what a night.” Summer sighed as she flopped back on her bed.
“Okay, date details. Now.” Kelly said to Jane.
“Kelly, its almost midnight.” Jane said. Summer sat up.
“Oh, no. You are not getting out of this one.” she said. Jane laughed.
“Alright, fine.” she began to describe their date
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * *
Two hours later the girls were all in bed. Jane was lying there going over every detail of her date in her head. Just then there was a loud sound. Like something being thrown against a wall. She sat up and ran to the door, she looked out the peephole and saw Tyler the security guard on the ground on top of someone.
“Kelly! Summer!” she yelled as she started to unlock the door. Summer grabbed her arm.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
“I don’t know,” Jane answered, “Tyler’s out there, it looks like he just tackled someone. I’m gonna go check it out..” she reached for the handle. Summer stopped her.
“You can’t go out! It could be dangerous.” Jane turned to face Summer, “Relax,” she soothed, “Tyler has it all under control.” She yanked the door open to see Tyler holding a girl. She looked about a year younger than Kelly.
“What’s going on?” Jane asked. Tyler held up a cell phone and tossed it to Jane.
“That’s my phone!” the girl protested from Tyler’s grip. Jane flipped it open and went to sent messages. She closed it and nodded at Tyler.
“That’s her.”
The girl continued to struggle. “What’s going on? I was just going to get a coke from the vending machine.” The girl said.
“At 2:00 at night?” Tyler asked. The girl sighed and stopped struggling.
“A bunch of my friends and I are down here for the weekend. We’re in that room down there. You can ask Mrs. Lefkowitz. She’s the one chaperoning.” Jane checked the girl’s cell phone. At 9:17 she had sent a picture of Nick at the pizza place to a bunch of girls. At 10:22 she sent a picture of Kelly, Nick, Sumer, and Joe walking into the hotel to the same people. Jane glanced up at the girl. “Explain this.” she held up the phone. The girls’ face lit up.
“We were walking down third and we saw Nick Jonas at some pizza place. Nick Jonas! You know from the Jonas Brothers he’s the youngest. We wanted to get autographs but by the time we’d gotten inside, he was gone. So then like an hour later we were walking into our hotel as he was walking out. He held the door for us. We were gonna say something, but we were all too nervous. And he was busy talking to her.” She pointed at Kelly who had just come out of the hotel room. Jane stepped into the space between the girl and Kelly. “Why were you in our room?” Jane asked. The girl looked at Tyler, “What are you talking about?” she asked, “ I don’t even know you. What’s going on?” she whined. Rob walked around the corner.
“I got the page, what’s wrong?” he asked. Tyler handed him the phone. “This girl here took some pictures of our kids.” Rob looked at the contacts it was sent to. He gave the phone to Kelly. “Do you recognize any of these names?” Kelly started looking.
“No, no, no, no, wait. Yes! Miley?” She turned to the girl. “Miley? As in Miley Cyrus?” The girl looked smug.
“Yep! I know Miley, we’re like on first name basis. I used to baby sit her sister when they lived in Nashville. Cool huh?” The girl looked excited. “As soon as I sent those pictures, she texted me, she couldn’t believe I’d seen Nick, she wants to know your name.” the girl pointed at Kelly. Rob gently took her arm. “Well we have some questions for you, and we need to meet the adult accompanying you.” As they walked away Tyler turned to Jane and Kelly. “Okay, back to bed, we’ll take care of this, I’m know Miley’s security guard so I’ll call him in the morning.” Jane looked at Kelly. Kelly looked incredibly confused. Jane grabbed her arm, “Come on, let’s get inside. Then I’ll explain.” Kelly followed her into their hotel room where Summer was sitting on the couch talking on the phone. She looked up when they came in.
“Never mind, Joe, they’re back. Yeah, Uh-huh. Okay. Night.” Summer hung up. She looked at Jane, “So what happened?” Jane sat down and told them what happened. They decided that Miley had gotten the pictures, gotten mad, and texted Kelly. But they couldn’t figure out why she was in her room. Eventually they all ended up in bed.

“Wake up!!!” Summer shook Jane, “It’s quarter til 6, wake up!” Jane rolled over and groaned. Summer leaned in and whispered to her, “Jane, do you want to have bed head for Kevin?”
“I’M UP!”
At 6:30 there was a knock on the door. “Wow they’re right on time.” Kelly said. Summer opened the door. The guys walked in. Kevin immediately hugged Jane.
“Thank goodness your okay. Rob swore you were fine.” Jane hugged him back, then let go. “Kevin, its okay. It was just like a 14 year old girl. I am really tired though.” He smiled, “I figured you would be. So we brought you this.” He held up a star bucks cup. She grabbed it and took a sip. “Kevin, you are amazing.” Joe jumped up.
“Hey! I brought the cream and sugar!” he cried. Jane laughed and gave him a hug.
“Thank you, Joe.” Once they all had coffee they grabbed their stuff and got in the limo. In the limo the girls told the guys what happened and how they thought Miley was involved.
“You think Miley broke into your room?” Kevin asked.
“That’s what doesn’t make sense.” Summer said, “We don’t know why she would do that.” Ten minutes later they arrived on set. Once everyone had been through hair, makeup, and wardrobe they all met at the catering tent.
“Quick breakfast anyone?” Joe suggested.
“Yes!” Nick said. He grabbed Kelly’s hand and led her inside the tent.
“I guess we’re having breakfast.” Jane laughed. They all grabbed some food and sat down. Joe immediately struck up a conversation. It was hilarious, as usual. Jane sat back and thought how much she would miss all of them. Obviously she would miss Kevin the most, but all of them were her friends. The weekend had been crazy but fun, and she was gonna remember it for a long time. She was sure all of them would.
“Hello! Jane? You with us?” Joe waved his hand in her face. Jane blinked and leaned back in to the conversation. “Sorry,” she said, “just zoned out for a second.” Summer smiled. “Yeah, we know.”
“Hey guys.” A voice mumbled quietly. They all turned around to see who it was. The talking stopped.
“Hey Miley.” Kevin said. He smiled at her. She weakly smiled back. She turned to Kelly. “Hey, umm…can I talk to you?” she asked. Tyler stood behind Miley and nodded at Kelly. Kelly smiled. “Yeah, sure.” she stood up. They both walked outside.
“Woah.” Nick said, staring after them.
“I know.” Jane said quietly.
“I wonder what Miley’s gonna say.” Summer wondered aloud, “maybe she’s gonna threaten her. Would she do that? Would they fight, like really fight. They can’t can they. I mean Kelly might go down. when you factor that-” Jane interrupted Summer’s brain ramble. “SumSum, don’t be a Drama Queen they’re not gonna fight, though I do think Miley would win.” she said. But despite her joke, she was worried what Miley would say. A few minutes later Kelly came back in. She sat down at the table and was quiet for a second. “Ya’ll I feel really bad,” she said.
“Why? What happened?” Joe asked.
“Are you okay?” Kevin said. Kelly nodded. “No, I’m fine. She just started by saying that she had sent the text and she felt bad about it. She sent it right when she got the pictures because she was hurt and upset and mad. She saw us leave the hotel and the door to our hotel room was open and she thought if she messed up our room we would get scared and leave. She was about to call and apologize when Tyler told her body guard what happened. She already talked to the girl who was outside our room. She was gonna come in and apologize to ya’ll but we both decided it would be weird. I told her I would tell you guys how she felt.” She paused and looked at Nick. “She really liked you. She really likes you.”
“Nick is a heartbreaker.” Joe said. Summer gave him a look. “Joe seriously. That was really sweet she apologized.” she said. “Yeah,” Kevin agreed, “That must have taken a lot.” Jane sat still for a second. Then she stood up. “I’ll be right back.” she called over her shoulder as she ran out of the tent. She looked around for a second then saw Miley climbing into a limo. “Miley!” she called, “Miley! Wait!” Miley got out of the car. Her expression turned sheepish. “Hi, Jane right? Look I’m really sorry, it was stupid and dumb and I-” Jane cut her off. “Miley, its fine. We all get mad sometimes. And we definitely all make mistakes. I was just gonna tell you that I forgive you, and I really want to get to know you better.” Jane smiled at Miley. “Do you like star bucks?” Miley asked.
“Of course!” Jane said. “we definitely have to go some time.” She gave Miley a hug. Miley looked surprised. But smiled when Jane said. “Nick is a great guy, but there are other guys out there.” she said encouragingly. Miley laughed, “Well Cody Linley is single.”
“That’s the spirit.”
“Well, I gotta go. Thanks Jane. I’ll talk to you later.” Jane waved as Miley got in her car and left. When she turned to go back to the group, she saw Kevin leaning against a trailer. He walked to her and wrapped her up in a hug. “I’m proud of you.” he said. “Thanks,” Jane said as she leaned into him, “I just feel bad for her, ya know? I think she just really needs a friend.” She looked up at him. “Because having good friends is a serious must for us girls.” Kevin laughed and looked at his watch. “We better get going.” Jane nodded, “Okay.” They walked side by side back to the tent.

It was 5:30 and the boys were unloading the girls stuff from the limo. Joe set Summer’s stuff down next to her. “You do not,” he said, “pack lightly.” She laughed, “Well I didn’t know where I was going!” she protested. He looked at her, “But are you glad you came?” he asked. Summer smiled, “Yes, thank you so much for a great weekend. I had an awesome time.” He nodded, “Yeah, me too. Text me when you get home, ok?”
“Yep.” She said. Nick handed Kelly her stuff. “Nick,” Kelly started, “I just really appreciated what you did last night. Being there for me I mean. It really meant a lot.” He shook the hair out of his eyes, “No problem, thanks for understanding about the magazine article.” She smiled, “Well thanks for letting us be in the video.” They both looked down for a minute. “So where are you going next?” Kelly asked. “Ohio, then Connecticut. But we’ll see you in mid-January hopefully.”
“Oh, alright. Hey, have you seen Kevin and Jane?” she asked.
“We’re over here,” Kevin called. He and Jane were walking from the other side of the limo. Everyone else went to talk to Mr. Jonas. Kevin set her stuff down. “Is that everything?” She nodded, “Thank you so much Kevin, for letting us be in the video, for our date, letting us borrow Big Rob.” Kevin laughed. She sighed, “Oh, I’m gonna miss that laugh. When can we see you again?” He put his arms around her waist. “I’m not sure, but I’m really gonna miss you.” He looked her in the eyes.
“Last call for the Raleigh Flight!” the announcer said. Kevin gave her a tight squeeze and kissed her on the forehead. “I’ll call you later ok? You’d better go.” She nodded wordlessly. Everyone exchanged final hugs and the girls boarded the plane. An hour later right after they had taken off Jane got a text message.
miss you already -k

A month later the girls were at Jane’s house watching TV when Kevin called. Jane picked up on the first ring. “Hey sweetheart,” she said. Summer and Kelly rolled their eyes. Jane ignored them. “Hey Jane, are you near a TV?”
“Yeah, the girls and I are just hanging out.”
‘Okay, well turn it to channel 56.”
“But, Dancing with the Stars is about to come on.” she protested.
“Come on Jane, just change it.” Jane could hear his excitement.
“Ok, Ok, this better be good.” She grabbed the remote and changed the channel. Summer sat up. “Hey, what are you-?” she was interrupted by the television. Joe, Nick, and Kevin appeared on the screen. “Kevin, what is this?” Jane asked him. “Just watch.” Then t.v. Joe started to talk.
“Hey I’m Joe.”
“I’m Kevin.”
“And I’m Nick, and your watching the world premiere of our new music video “Girl of My Dreams’” All three girls started to scream. “Kevin! No way!” Jane cried into the phone. “Just keep watching.” he replied. The girls watched as they saw themselves with the boys. None of them could believe they were seeing themselves on tv. When it was finished she turned off the volume on the tv so she could talk to Kevin. “That was awesome!”
“Pretty cool huh? They’re gonna put it in heavy rotation, for the holiday season. Did Summer and Kelly like it?” Jane looked over at them. They were staring at the screen. Kelly was shaking, “That. Was. Awesome!” She said. Jane laughed. “I think they liked it.” she told him. “I‘m glad.” he said, “well I’ve got to go do sound check. Call you tonight?”
“Perfect. Break a leg.”
“Alright, thanks, bye.”
“Bye.” Jane hung up. She looked over at Summer and Kelly. “O my gosh.” Kelly said. “What?” Jane asked. “You are so in love with him.” Summer said. Jane started to laugh. “You guys!” Summer fell backwards onto the couch. “You were blushing the whole time!” Jane felt her cheeks. “She’s right.” Kelly added. “Well they’re all really sweet.” Jane pointed out. “And funny!” Summer said. “And cute!” Kelly added. Summer and Jane shot her a look, then they all dissolved into giggles. “Speaking of cute though, you and Kevin are a really adorable couple. Do you know how your gonna make it work?” Summer asked. “Well,” Jane began, “He’s positive that we can do it. It’ll just take a lot of extra communication. Thank goodness for the internet.” she said. “He texts me and stuff all the time, and calls every chance he gets.“ she paused. “I really miss his hugs though” she finished. “You are such a dork,” Summer complained. “Shut up!” Jane threw popcorn at her. They both erupted into giggles. “Here Jane, I’ll give you a hug.” Kelly said. “Aww…at least Kelly understands.” Jane said shooting Summer a silly look. Sumer sighed. “What am I gonna do with you two?”

It was December 24th as Jane woke up. When she walked downstairs her mom was making coffee. “Morning!” She smiled at Jane. “Hey mom,” she replied. “Coffee?” her mom asked as she held up a cup. Jane took it, “Thank you o so much!” she said as she took a sip. She jumped when the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it,” she offered. She wrapped her robe tighter around herself as she pulled the door open.
“Delivery for a..” the guy checked his clipboard, “Miss Jane Lefkowitz?” he held out a box. “That’s me, thanks.” she took the box. He nodded and walked away. She shut the door and hurried back into the kitchen. “Who was it?” her mom asked. “It’s a package.” She looked at the return address. It was from a post office in New York. She opened the cardboard box. There was a gift wrapped box with a tag that read “Do not open until December 25th!” She examined the writing, “I think its from Kevin.” Her mom sighed. “Oh Kevin. Where is he this week?” she asked. “Well he’s gonna be in New York for Christmas and New Years, then he’ll be in Wycoff.” Jane answered. Her mom nodded. “I just worry about you being in a long distance relationship.” Jane turned to her mom. She had been suspecting she felt this way for a while. She smiled, “Mom, I really like him. And I know a lot of people say that but he’s a really good guy. And he does the best he can. Really he does. You know how much I’m on the phone with him.” Her mom set down her coffee and reached out for Jane’s hand. “I know sweetie, I know. Its just…well, I don’t want you to be lonely.” Jane put her other hand on top. “I know mom, but trust me, we both know what we’re giving up. Thanks for looking out, though.” Her mom stood up to wash her cup. “ My goodness. Only you would pick a rock star to be your boyfriend.” They both laughed.

“Alright,” Jane’s dad said, “Have all the presents been opened?” Jane looked around at the pile of wrapping paper. Then suddenly remembered. “Oh!” she jumped up and ran to her room, “My package from New York!” she grabbed it and ran back downstairs. She opened it quickly inside the box was a bunch of tissue paper and an envelope. She ripped it open and out fell a card and a piece of paper. She read the card silently first.
Dear Jane, Merry Christmas! I am so sorry that I can’t be with you today. Only part of your gift is here. M y gift to you is snow.” Jane stopped reading and looked at the piece of paper, it was a plane ticket voucher. She started screaming. “Sweetie, what is it?” Her mom asked. Jane handed her the ticket and finished reading the letter. We’re performing in New Jersey in two weeks and I figured you might like to come. We have a couple days off around then too. I cannot wait to give you a hug. Xs and Os, Kevin.” Jane took a second to re-read the letter. “New Jersey.” she whispered. “Your flying to New Jersey?” her mom asked. Jane started to grin, “I’m flying to New Jersey!” Jane started to laugh. “I’ve got to go call him.” she grabbed her phone and ran to her room. Kevin answered after the first ring. “Merry Christmas!” He said. Jane could just see him smiling in her head. “Merry Christmas to you too!” she replied. “So, have you opened all of your presents.” he asked.
“Yep.”
“And which is your favorite?”
“Well, it would have to be a tie between the book on plant life my dad’s mom gave me. Or the plane ticket to see my favorite boy in the whole world who is also ridiculously sweet, cute, and funny.”
“Wow.” He whistled, “You like Joe that much?” Jane laughed, “Close enough. Thank you so much Kevin! It’s been like a month!”
“A month and fourteen days actually, its gonna be great. But I should be thanking you, all three of us thought the scrapbook was great. That had to take you forever.” Jane smiled, “Not quite that long. But I’m glad you guys liked it. What else did you get?”
“Well Joe gave me some new shades, Nick got me this hat, and my parents got me another Gibson.”
“Awesome!” Jane said.
“Oh, yes it is. Hey did you look at the piece of paper in the box?” Jane remembered it falling out, she had forgotten about it in her excitement.
“No, should I go get it?”
“Yes you should.” Kevin sounded anxious. Jane ran downstairs and grabbed it. She looked at it. “Kevin what is this?”
“It’s the weather forecast for the week you’ll be here. Look at it.” Jane read it. It was supposed to snow. “Aww…...Kevin!”
“Dress warm.”
“I will, Thanks Kevin.”
“Your more than welcome, well I gotta go. Frankie needs me to help him with his webkinz.”
“Ok, well I’ll talk to you tomorrow, tell everyone I said hello alright?’
“Got it, and thanks again for the scrapbook Jane, its good to see your face again.” Jane felt herself blush. “Well I’ll talk to you soon Jane, x’s and o’s.”
“Bye Kevin, x’s and o’s.” Jane hung up the phone. Could she have picked a sweeter guy? Almost as soon as she set the phone down it rang again. She answered it.
“Hello?”
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” Jane recognized that scream.
“Kelly? What‘s wrong?” She asked.
“Nick sent me these cool sunglasses!” Kelly said excitedly.
“Sweet!” Jane said. “And a plane ticket to see him!” Jane smiled. “Very sweet!”
“Uh-huh!” Kelly said, “I’ve gotta go call Summer! AHH! I’m so excited!”
“Me too, bye Kelly.”
“Bye!” Jane smiled. Those boys knew how to treat a girl.
“Marshmallows in your hot chocolate?” Jane asked Summer.
“Duh,” Summer replied from her seat at the computer. “Whatcha lookin at?” Jane asked her as she pulled up a chair beside her.
“Your myspace. Ever since Kevin put pictures of you on their page, you have gotten lots of comments.” Summer answered.
“What are you talking about?”
“Look, here’s a picture of you and all three of them and later her’s one of you and Kevin, and there’s one of you, Kelly, and Nick.” Summer said pointing.
“Wait, that’s on the public myspace?” Jane asked.
“Yeah….what other kind is there? Hey whose guitarguy17? He’s number one in your top eight.”
Jane shifted her weight in her chair, “Well…, um….Kevin has a myspace her uses for personal sturr, you know, just for his friends and that’s it.” Jane answered. Summer nearly fell out of her chair. “He has a secret myspace? Are you in his top eight?” Summer asked suspiciously.
“Ummm,…..yeah.” Jane said slowly.
“Jane! that’s so romantic!”
“Yeah, a private myspace, that’s hot.” Jane replied sarcastically.
“Does Joe have one?”
“I don’t think so, he would’ve told you right?”
“Yeah, I guess so.” Summer nodded. Her phone began to ring.
“Omygosh SUMMER!”
“Hey Kelly, Your on speaker Jane’s here.”
“Perfect! You will never believe what I just read in this magazine!”
“Kelly, remember what we read last time? I doubt whatever it says is true.” Summer said.
“But it’s about Jane!”
“So…..” Jane said, trying to get Kelly to elaborate.
“Here, I’ll read it,
Teen sensation, Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers was spotted in New York with a girl on what appears to be a date. Sources say they are just good family friends, but we’re not so sure. We’re still trying to find her name, but we’re sure we’ll know soon! We can‘t wait to see what happens! Tell us what you think at superstar.com!”
Kelly stopped reading. “Oh! And F.Y.I. you were on the cover.”
“She was?” Summer said.
“I was?”
“Well Kevin was on the cover and underneath him it said Kevin’s New Girl.” Kelly said.
“That’s a really short article to make a cover story.” Summer commented.
“Yeah, but it sells.” Jane pointed out.
‘True.” Summer agreed.
“But isn’t this so cool!?!?!?” Kelly cried. “There are like 15 pictures too! Well more like 5, but still that’s a lot isn’t it?” she asked. Jane and Summer laughed at her exaggeration. “Yeah, It’s a lot,” Jane said. “Well I gotta go!” Kelly said, “I just wanted you to know! Bye!” Kelly said.
“Bye!” Summer and Jane chimed. Once they hung up they started to giggle.
“So how long before they know who I am?” Jane asked Summer as she sipped her hot chocolate, “four days?” Summer laughed, “Oh please, it’ll take them forever, at least till Kevin tells them, which will not be soon. Its not like they’re gonna hack into government files and find you.”
‘I don’t know, those teen magazines can get pretty desperate.” Jane smiled.
“I think you’ll be just fine.” Summer said.
